show us your rings!
starrysim replied to NABUMBAH's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
LOL I know what you mean. DF thinks most men's rings look like "car parts." I think he may end up being pickier with his band than I will! -
show us your rings!

Wow, so many stunning rings! Here's mine. It's just a solitaire, but I think it has enough character due to the interesting setting. I originally wanted the same thing but with tiny pave sidestones all the way around. DF was going to have it custom made but decided against it and just got the one with the plain band. Lucky for him, I fell in love with it anyway! There's still a very small chance I may get it re-set when I go to pick out a band, if I can't find a band I like to go with it. -
I'm considering a tea-length dress (to wear for the ceremony and the reception). I'm so far from picking my gown at this point, but there are a few that I like, just for inspiration> Blue by Enzoani - Danbury Maggie Sottero - Isadora Ann (I'm going to a trunk show tomorrow, hoping to try this on, among others) Maggie Sottero - JD1406 Sottero & Midgley - Santorini

Sorry, I can't help you either. I haven't been there, I was just passing on the pricing info that I got from Nicole. I know It doesn't make any sense to be charging us for open bar considering it's an all-inclusive resort. I have seen other people say that they didn't pay for the open bar for various functions that were close to the resort bars, and the guests just got drinks for themselves from the bar. We're planning to do our ceremony on the lobby balcony - as I understand it there is a bar just inside, so that will be perfect for the post-ceremony cocktail hour. We haven't decided where we're going the dinner, but we'll probably end up getting a few hours of open bar there, which I'm not too happy about. It's charged per hour, too! I probably won't commit to it ahead of time, I'll decide once we're there an I can see the set-up and layout of everything, and maybe try to get them to include it for free.

Thanks. This is the point that I'm most concerned about. I don't want people to get left out because they wait too long, and I would also feel bad if people felt pressured to book, only to see prices drop significantly. I'll have to ask my TA, and in the end I think I would choose a TA who can offer some sort of guarantee.

I don't think those prices are realistic, according to my research and talking to other IRHS brides on the forums (who got married there in the fall, flying from TO). The fact that most carriers haven't released prices yet also tells me that it's too early to book. We're meeting with our travel agent this week, I'm hoping she will have some good info for us. I'm pretty anxious, but realistically I think it's too early to be booking.

Is there such a thing as a comfortable wedding dress, and one that still shapes nicely - I want it all! I love Maggie Sotteros, but the ones I've tried have been really uncomfortable - or could it also be that they were laced up too tightly? The one Ella Rosa that I found comfortable didn't look flattering at all in pictures.

Coral Bridesmaid Dresses?
starrysim replied to aaost7's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I'm thinking coral for my BM's as well, so thanks for the inspiration! The coral/aqua combo was stunning, but not sure if I would have the guts. Coral/green maybe, or just coral. Here are some Mori Lee designed that I really like, but depending on how I choose my BM's, one of them won't be able to wear it for sure, she just doesn't do strapless. The colour is watermelon. -
My Christmas engagement
starrysim replied to starrysim's topic in Share your Wedding & Engagement Stories!
Yes, I have been patient. We started dating first year university, so it took us a while while we finished undergrad, then I went to grad school in a different city for 2 years, and then we moved out on our own... it's just never a good time, money is always tight. But he's really happy that we waited until he could afford a nice ring. He doesn't believe in upgrading later Thanks. I'm so happy with it. Originally I wanted the same type of setting but with a very thin band set with tiny tiny diamonds. Not like a typical channel setting, but very very fine. However, we couldn't find anything like that, and he was going to custom make it, but in the end he decided against it and went for the solitaire, thinking I would just swap out the setting if I wanted to. But I love it, I don't want to change it at all. I love the diamond so much, I don't want anything to distract from it. I totally see why people like solitaires now.
