  1. I like the one with green! Would you mind sharing how you made them? I didn't know you could do it in Microsoft Word...
  2. I thought about getting a videographer for a while, but we'll have photography for the wedding day and a TTD session with full copyrights to the photos, so I am just going to make a slideshow with music too. It won't record our vows but I think photo's capture a lot of emotion and I'll probably look at them A LOT more often than I would the video. My family has asked because none of them will be there, and I told them we'll show them photo's and can get them copies, and unless they want to fund videography, than it's a no go! lol
  3. Those brochures are awesome! I was going to make some until none of our guests made reservations lol. Oh well, I still found a use for this template though!
  4. Congrats! I'm getting married at The Royal on June 10!! Who's your wedding coordinator?
  5. Hi Ladies! My name is Tasha and I am from Ypsilanti, Michigan. I am getting married June 10 at The Royal in Cancun! We will have ZERO guests!
  6. Thank you! I don't think I'm going to do a veil. I think I am going to do a flower...
  7. I went for my dress alteration today! I am in LOVEEEEEE with my dress! It's by Alfred Angelo
  8. Thanks Deanna! It's good to know I'm not the only one! We may possibly do a reception when we return, still haven't planned anything yet, but I think that's a really good idea. Good luck to you!
  9. Thanks! I tried to become a mini travel agent, along with our real one, but people still procrastinated. Actually everybody had about a 18 month notice but we couldn't give them actual prices until the air & resort costs were released, so they had more than enough time if they wanted to attend. And the resort might have some deals but the two lest expensive rooms are already full so I don't know if they'll get too much better... Nope nobody's coming, no parents, siblings, friends, nada. My mother & grandmother both are afraid to fly, idk what everyone else' reason is... We are working on what we'll do when we return, but we'll also both be beginning grad school in July, so we'll just have to see what works with our budget.
  10. I'm an Alfred Angelo bride! I absolutely fell in love with my dress when I tried it on! I got an email that the 2011 collection was in stores and I saw the perfect one! I was soooooo glad when I went to the store, the consultant said they just got it in yesterday! I tried it on first and there was no need to try on any more! And it was my size! So since I was the first to try it on, I saw no reason to custom order it! It's style #2171 - mines has a corset in the back http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=b7253cee-37f8-441c-bb38-72726938a772&categoryID=3924ccf5-8546-4e9d-a5f8-6db42b4ded1b&pg=1&colorId1=
  11. I understand what you mean! And even though we did the same thing considering who we just knew would come, none of them are coming! So, I'd say letting your family know the earlier the better, and since your wedding is in 2012, that will give them plenty of time to save. Our guest list and planning had spiraled out of control and I finally realized that we'd wanted a destination wedding in the beginning and that's what we should do. Nonetheless, we loss over $3000 in deposits, but in the end we'll actually be spending less overall anyways. You could always still have an at home reception and be able to do all the traditional things that you want! Good luck on your planning!
  12. Hello! I am getting married on June 10 at The Royal Cancun! And although we announced this last August, none of our family's have made reservations yet. I'm pretty sure that none of them will be attending... I'm kind of upset about it because so many people told us that they would be coming, but then waited until this month to check prices and realized that prices had sky rocketed. I explained this soooo many times, but obviously they didn't take it seriously... In a way it makes me sad knowing that none of our family members will be there, but I'm happy that we'll have an intimate ceremony. Besides, we're only marrying each other anyway! Anyone else not having any guests? Thanks!
  13. I'm getting married June 10, 2011 at the Royal in Cancun! Still no guests booked yet though, everyone is procrastinating... But, we're still extremely excited!
  14. They actually don't charge for their services, the $50 goes toward your trip. They applied my $50 to my deposit for the resort (or the airfare)....
  15. I am using destinationweddings.com for my wedding planning and travel and my experience so far has been excellent! I am getting married June 10, 2011 at The Royal in Cancun. My Specialist is Susan Ryan and she has definitely been a BIG help with my planning so far. I started off looking for resorts on my own and reading reviews from TripAdvisor, so once I found a few resort's I liked, I started with destinationweddings, told Susan about some of the resorts I was interested in and also asked for more options. At first she did try to sale me into the Karisma Resorts, but once I told her exactly what features I wanted in the resort and what our budget was, everything has been smooth ever since. She is always extremely timely in getting back with me, and she always lets me know when she will be away weeks in advance just in case anything comes up. One reason why I went with destinationweddings.com was because most of the time the travel agents have visited the resorts before and since we had no intention on going to see the resort, we wanted someone who would be familiar with it. Also, their travel agents (are supposed to anyway) have years of experience with travel. My specialist has 25 years of travel experience and has done destination weddings since the beginning. I also know three other people who have used destinationweddings.com, 2 for weddings, and 1 for a honeymoon, and they've all had fine experiences. Another reason is because I didn't want to take the risk of using expedia or travelocity because people have SUCH bad experiences with them. My cousin who was a guest at a wedding in Jamaica used travelocity to book her travel instead of going with the couple's destinationwedding.com specialist, and had soooo many problems - the room description was not correct, they told her she'd have to pay extra once she got to the resort for the room she wanted, the transfers were not done correctly, and the room that she had originally reserved was "overbooked" so she wouldn't have been able to get it anyway. I rather be on the safe side and use destinationweddings.com in case any of my guests run into problems with their flights, or the resort, they will have someone to contact who is United States based to help them. Also, destinationweddings.com has a "price match guarantee" so they are supposed to be able to get you a matching or better price from their vendors if you find a cheaper quote. I personally looked up quotes on travelocity for the Royal Cancun when my Specialist got my first quote, and when I told her I found it cheaper she had already submitted a price match for it because she'd done her own research. I got non-stop flights for about a 40% discount and my resort rates were about $250 less per person. I think that's a great deal! So while I still looked up prices to make sure we were getting a good deal, the time I spent was still worth it because I did get a much better rate than the first quote. Also, if you're skeptical about using one of their Specialist, ask them to allow you to contact their previous clients, I did it and the couple was very happy with the help of our Specialist.
