  1. Thanks ladies! I wish I would have thought about making prettier faces, I tend to go around with a giant smile - so I think I was trying to not do that. haha He really is great! Your photos look really good too Manda!
  2. Gorgeous Liz!! I love the green, and your ceremony flowers.
  3. I was fine most of the night without one, my step mom was freezing all night and had a sweater and a shawl. Guess it depends on the person!
  4. Some of my pro pictures from Sascha Gluck! http://cancunphotosblog.com/jaimee-ryan-barcelo-maya-palace/ I love most of them, there's a few I'm making silly faces though.

  6. Really? Maybe they forgot to charge us. Haha. Some of our pro shots are in! I have to admit, I look kind of like a weiner in a few (I like to make funny faces). I love most of them! http://cancunphotosblog.com/jaimee-ryan-barcelo-maya-palace/
  7. Thanks Brenners! It was a lot of fun, people really enjoyed the game.
  8. That is kind of how I figured it. I was going to make my own - then got a few quotes, and figured out what it would cost for the flowers I wanted, and it wasn't much more to get her to make it. You could always look at getting her to make yours, then making the bridesmaids and corsages and things? I was really happy with her work.
  9. Hey Macker, which location are you talking about? At Playa Palmerus I didn't have to pay anything extra for lights. Sounds like you might have to at Playa Azul though? Playa Palmerus, lights that are included
  10. If you're talking about Playa Palmerus (where my picture was) there is still an additional cost over 15 people (that is the package, not related to the location). I had meant an additional cost for lights at Playa Azul. A big reason I chose this, is that the back up location is one of the open air grills. It was threatening to rain on the wedding day all week. So that made me feel better. It was also a lot closer to the Palace (where everyone was staying) and I know most people can back to their rooms at some point during the night for a sweater. Playa Azul was gorgeous! We had our ceremony there, I know another girl (who got married the same day) was supposed to have her reception at Playa Azul, but opted for the open air grill beside it, because it gets a lot windier down there. Our wedding day was the least windy night of the week, and she said it was still really windy there. It was breezy where we were too, but I didn't find it overly windy or cool.
  11. Thanks! I also got them from Bloombridal. She has bulk flowers you can order (which was really hard to find!). I know because I ordered my bouquet, the prices were cheaper than on the website. You might want to contact her - maybe if you ordered a corsage or bout (I know FH's was made by her, and was really nice, and only about $10) you would get some extra for the discount price. Below are the links for the Plumeria and the Orchids. http://www.bloombridal.com/Flowers-Candles-in-Bulk/Real-Touch-Plumerias/flypage.tpl.html http://www.bloombridal.com/Flowers-Candles-in-Bulk/3-stems-of-26-Real-Touch-Orchids/flypage.tpl.html One of my bridesmaids used my extra plumeria on her dress, but I do have two stems of the green orchids leftover that are listed on classified add, if you didn't need the 6 stems. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/77685/extras-from-wedding-raffia-fan-real-touch-orchids-key-holders-lip-balm
  12. I did something a little different and had a hair vine and comb. I wanted my hair up, since I knew it would be fairly windy, and hot. My inspiration hairstyle was like this: This is how it turned out! I loved my hair.
  13. Honestly, it's going to be a bit of a crapshoot. At least it was for us. All of the different sources I looked at for the Mayan Riviera said different things. Weather Network, Accuweather, random googling First it was sunny Then it was rain Then it was thunderstorms It switched every few days, the day before they were still calling for thunderstorms - then that day it rained good for about 20 minutes. Our wedding was gorgeous without a cloud in the sky. I was full prepared to use our back up location until that day.
  14. We had people fly out of Calgary for about $1600 (plus tax) for the Barcelo Maya Palace in January (7-14th) 2012. We had quotes for Dreams Tulum for about $1500 from Winnipeg in January around the same time. If November is a cheaper month, that seems really expensive!
  15. Thank you! To be honest, I wasn't sure how it would work either. But she had a vision and I trusted her - and it turned out great. I was worried it was to long and would julius caesar off the front of my head. I really love how it turned out.
  16. My WC was really helpful in planning for the sunset to! That would make sense for May, ours was a bit earlier in January.
  17. I let my girls pick their own dresses. My only requirement was green (I gave them a few shades as a guideline). I loved that they all had the dresses they loved, and I thought they still complimented each other well. One was very chiffony (middle), one was a sateen cotton, and one had more structure, but still a shiffony overlay. I had earrings and necklaces made, and asked them to wear at least one of the pieces. My sister wore both (in the middle), my MOH wore the earrings and my craft bridesmaid (who made them all!) wore the necklace. I loved it, exactly what I wanted. I really don't like matchy matchy.

  19. Thank you! Our ceremony was at 3:30, we timed it so the sun would set while we were up on the balcony for our cocktail hour (even changed our ceremony time to accomodate). We were up there from 5-6 and the sun was just setting beautifully around 5:30-5:45ish. Our reception started at 6:15ish, and it was completely dark by then. The lights on the trees and there were a few flood lights set up. I had lights in the centrepieces (in hindsight, I needed more per centrepiece or else brighter ones) but they weren't needed. We could see fine, and there was a nice ambience.
  20. Hey ladies, I posted my planning/post wedding thread if you want to check it out for everything summed up and more info on the ceremony/reception at the Barcelo. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/77705/avens-mayan-rivieria-planning-thread-12-01-12 Is there only an additional cost for Playa Azul? We never paid extra at Palmerus and it was all lit up.
