  1. Head's Up Canadian brides! Michael's is clearing out some of their "christmas stock" and they have playing cards and luggage tags in animal prints (leopard, zebra etc) and gold letter monograms. The animal print ones were $0.45 and the gold letters were $0.75. Winnipeg brides may be out of luck, I cleaned them out.
  2. I ended up using We'd love to come, save us a beachchair! Sorry, we can't make it. Have a margarita for us!
  3. Congrats Perry! 6 days until I can say that
  4. Amazing!! I hope my day is as lovely as yours. I've always wanted to make soaps. You've inspired me to look into it!
  5. Agreed, great job! I love it. My FI works in Edmonton (and commutes back to Winnipeg, he works for Air Canada Jazz). We're doing the Barcelo Maya Palace in 2012. I love you BD shoots with the jersey, I never thought of that! Though I'd have to use a Flames Jersey
  6. Excellent advice. This is what we did too. We had been to Mexico before and absolutely loved it, so we knew we wanted to go there. I picked about 6 resorts then really intensively researched them (in Huatulco and Mayan Riviera). Once I narrowed it down to 4 or 5, I got quotes from my travel agent. Then we narrowed it down more. In the end it was a choice between two for me, but I went with a larger resort - while if it was just us I would have probabably chosen a smaller resort, if we end up having 30 people with us - I don't want them to be on top of each other all week, because I know this is their vacation for the year too. The internet is a wonderful resource, how did people do this before the internet? You tube was a surprising place that had lots of good video/pictures of resorts. Some of the bigger resorts have their own fanpage (Someone made an unofficial Barcelo Maya Forum because they loved it so much, it has a lot of people on it). Trip advisor was lovely. It was interesting to read alot of comments, and see what people complained about. "It rained the whole time we were there" "There were lizards on our balconey" Things like that are often the complaints. Maybe you shouldn't go to the tropical jungle in the rainy season if you don't like that stuff >.< So just google your heart out.
  7. Ooh that's neat. I'm not ready for it yet - but maybe by next fall. You should let us know how it goes Tris!
  8. Hi Janine, By change do you have measurements for this dress? If the bust was loose for you - it might actually fit me! However I seem to vary between size 0 and size 6 depending on the manufactorer.
  9. It didn't look like there was a thread started for this yet when I searched the forums. Any other January 2012 brides out there? We're booked for January 12, 2012 at the Barcelo Maya Palace in the Riviera Maya. So excited! I wish it was this year already.
  10. We were a little ahead of the game in booking our wedding, so we decided we're going to get married on the same day, just a year ahead of time. I just booked the marriage commisioner. Now we just need to decide if we surprise a few friends to be our witnesses or ask her to provide them. It will be hard to keep a secret for a year, but as said earlier - its just a piece of paper and the real ceremony will be with all our family and friends.
  11. Those are so cute! I got some (less DIY though I still have to put the stickers on) http://www.myweddingfavors.com/lovekisses-personalized-lip-balm-stick.html I wasn't clever enough to think of a fun saying though! Love it.
  12. I'm not changing my name, as people before me have said - I have no issues with people calling me Mrs. ___ in social settings, but professionally I have contacts and things published in my name, and I don't want to start all over again there. If we ever had kids they would definiately take his name, and potentially I would hyphenate or change it then. My FH has an awesome last name though. I had a friend who's FH told her - he wouldn't marry her if she didn't take his name because it meant that much to him. I would have been quite upset if someone had given me that ultimatum.
  13. We're getting married in January, I wanted to wait until summertime though- so we can have more of a BBQ type party. It's kind of a long time to wait, but I don't want a formal sit down reception, and that way people can work it into their holidays. I was thinking maybe the weekend by Canada Day.
  14. Why not just say that - Sorry you can't join us in "Tropical Place", but you haven't missed the celebration, Please join us on "Day" at "Place" for our reception (Or call it at home reception). I'd also do a search of the forums, I'm sure this question has likely been answered and other people have posted their at home reception invites.
  15. I just booked/am in the process of booking Sascha. I'm so excited!
  16. I love the compass theme! We're looking to do something similar. Where did you get your compass your monogram?
  17. Hello Winnipeg Ladies, On my daily drive to work, I noticed a store called Island Imports opened up on Academy. I was wondering if anyone had checked it out? Kind of sounds like they might have favours/OOT type things from the name. Just curious!
  18. I just ordered some off of Amazon.com - Bright green ones! I thought they might be nice because green is one of my colours, and then you won't be able to see exactly how much money etc. is in there. I did get 50, which i may not need, so that's one benefit of the other site! http://www.amazon.com/Dimensions-Insert-Horizontal-Zipper-Closure/dp/B003IT6U40/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1292009428&sr=8 I just ordered some off of Amazon.com. I had the same issues are you, shipping to Canada sucks. Luckily I live close to the border, and in lots of border towns there are places that Canadians can ship their goods to (for me in Winnipeg, I use http://www.mikesparcelpickup.com/). Basically you can take advantage of the free shipping, and ship it to this place, then you pay $5 a parcel for them to hold it for you. So last weekend I planned a trip to Grand Forks with a few friends, and stopped in on my way past the border. It's wonderful!
  19. Same here! Oh Winnipeg. I ended up buying my dress online as well. I haven't tried it on, I hope it's as amazing as I hope!
  20. I you sign up for Vista Print's emails, and keep an eye out those sorts of things come on for free. I got my 100 STD postcards for free, and paid about $15 in shipping, which also included address labels (free), magnets (free) and a few Christmas presents.
