  1. Here's the FI in his outfit. He really loved these pants (These are the Le Chateau ones on sale for about $30, and they are the drawstring ones, so no hockey leg worries!). He did splurge on a $175 Hugo Boss shirt, but he really loves it. He is in Edmonton for work for three weeks, and his second day there he went out shopping for shirt and flip flops, and success! I was so proud he took initiative and went for it (Also I think he looks great!) Groomsmen are wearing this, this is the Best Man.
  2. I double check with my T.A. about the executive class upgrade, and send her the link that was posted earlier. " Hi Jaimee, The previous promotions you had read were valid a couple years ago and are no longer part of Air Canada's groups programs. However, I just verified that you will indeed receive a free upgrade to executive class on your Winnipeg-Cancun flights with Air Canada Vacations! Regards," Maria So I do get both! The 25 (with the 26th free) and the executive. I wish I had the 15 and one free, but I guess I won't complain to much! Was that promotion through ACV? Or maybe for certain resorts - I seem to recall some of the different resorts we had requested quotes for had different promotions.
  3. I think you need to move to Strawberry package, worth it in my opinion! Though it sounds like some other brides are being creative. I think three is long enough if you are just eating, if you are doing dances and speeches you might want longer. I booked Sascha Gluck as a photographer, from his 2011 prices we paid 2600 for 8 hours (6 hours on the day, and 2 hours TTD). This includes all your photos on a CD.
  4. Hmm I never heard of this bonus before, I'll email my T.A. Our bonus was that if we had 26 (I think?) people book, we got a free trip. So essentially I'm going for free ( saves us 2000). I guess if its one or the other, I'd keep mine - it would sure be nice if it was both!
  5. Transat wasn't booking at the Barcelo when I booked =/ it was in that brief period when they stopped. However I want the soup and we're having surf and turf, so technically we are saving 41 per person (35 + 6), so maybe I'm not missing out on that much! Was your price including the 27.50 a person for the beach? For 35 people and everything (Sur fa nd Turf, beach reception, two tier cake, rest of the strawberry package) it looks like about 4700. I'm not sure what is all included in the transat package, what little perks from strawberry are you missing out on? Like hair make up type stuff? Also congrats! I have the same locations as you, just reversed
  6. We went to Le Chateau too, and just found our outfits for the guys (Still need a shirt for FI). He really didn't want a jacket, and I'm okay with that. Initially he tried on the $200 linen pants at Harry Rosen, then I happened to go to Le Chateau (for Canadian Brides) and they have all of their linen summer stuff on clearance. FH actually liked the Le Chateau pants better! Now we just need to find a white long sleeved light shirt for him. We found the groomsmen shirts there too, light green short sleeved linen. Here's the Best Man, and a bridesmaid checking him out (conveniently they started dating a while ago. Lol). They also have some deal with now where if you buy so much clearance stuff you get some free. So we got 3 shirts and 3 pants (plus pants and a pashmina for me) for $200. I suggest you check it out if your still looking!
  7. I'm from Winnipeg, which doesn't help you exactly - but for my dress it was a sample. They had gotten the dresses in and the designer (Le Sposa) went bankrupt or something in North America. So it was a brand new sample for 50% off. So I got a beautiful dress brand new for around $500. Most bridal places I've been (at least the bigger ones) had sample racks (at least in the spring). You might be able to find something good there.
  8. Yay Edmonton Friend! I'm moving from Winnipeg, probably the end of Sept or early October. That sounds like a lot of fun, especially since I may have lots of time on my hands as we're moving for FH job, and I don't have one yet! In the final hour I picked the Barcelo Maya Palace over Dreams Tulum, really the only decided factor was that we wanted somewhere bigger so people could still have their own vacations (at least two friends are coming on their honeymoons to our wedding).; That's almost to bad, we would have been there at the same time likely, we leave for Mexico on the 7th! I found groom pants, and groomsman outfits the other day as well. Initially he tried on the $200 linen pants at Harry Rosen, then I happened to go to Le Chateau (for Canadian Brides) and they have all of their linen summer stuff on clearance. FH actually liked the Le Chateau ones better! Now we just need to find a white long sleeved light shirt for him. We found the groomsmen shirts there too. 9. Yes! Me to, or I call him my manfriend. I don't really like saying Fiance. If its people we don't know or will never meet again I just say Husband. Less complicated than explaining manfriend.
  10. I know the feeling! I'm trying to get the grooms stuff ready, for some reason he's placed it low on the priority list, but right now all of the summery clothes are out, so I keep telling him! I'm now moving too (To Edmonton, where in Alberta are you JayKay?) around the end of September, so we're getting our house ready to sell, trying to buy a new car (By thursday! That's when FH heads west to start his job), trying to finish my thesis and a million other things. Ack! I am hoping to buy some cute beach bags, I haven't made it to dollorama or liquidation world yet to check it out.
  11. Sounds delicious!! I found this seller on Etsy, and I think I'm going to order these butterflies! I love them (plus I'm doing my masters thesis on an endangered butterfly) Our cake will likely be two tiers, but I think it should still work. http://www.etsy.com/shop/SugarRobot?ref=top_trail Here is the Etsy Seller
  12. I did a few testers, and it seemed to work okay. I like the zots idea!
  13. I agree! October does seem good. I sent out the invites in February (initially thinking maybe that would be the STD), but we decided everyone knew, so that was good enough. I am thinking of sending out an email (to those who have it) as a reminder, and more information. I'm hoping by now people have a good idea if they are going to come or not - our payment date is also October. We have our RSVP set for July 15th, so I'm not really that worried if people don't RSVP. I kind of think that most of the people who are coming - have already put down their deposit (we're at 35).
  14. Congrats on quitting smoking ladies! I've also been on the hunt for shoes, I want something really fun - I've had trouble finding something though!
  15. Where did you get the hibiscus totes? They're awesome!
  16. Congrats. I'm still here I know a few of the other Winnipeg gals recently got married and such.
  17. I know the Barcelo includes a carved fruit sort of centerpiece with theirs. I found this picture on the internet from a Barcelo Bride, I think thats what it is!
  18. I just picked up my bands on the weekend, so I was "attempting" to take some photos. For reference - my e-ring is the middle white and rose gold, It has the swirly bits. I made the custom ring(s) [There are two, one for each side, it wasn't even my idea, I lucked out!] to match the contours of my ering and they have a little chip diamond in them. When the rings are on my finger there is no gap, but if you look at the photo, there is a bit of a gap between my first band and the ering.
  19. I've been wearing mine for other two years (White and Rose Gold) and they are keeping their true colours.
  20. I "think" there is a threat on here about ivory dresses and white grooms shirts. I think in most cases it ended up being fine, especially if he is wearing a jacket.
  21. I had my e rings custom designed. It was probably a little bit more expensive, but I thought it was really reasonable. The expensive part is the darn high price of gold! I had mine done at Vandenberg's in Winnipeg. (http://www.vandenbergs.ca/) They were great. They did need my ring for a few weeks though to make the wax and then the rings themselves to make sure it fit perfectly. I actually just picked up my bands on the weekend, so I was "attempting" to take some photos. For reference - my e-ring is the middle white and rose gold, It has the swirly bits. I made the custom ring(s) [There are two, I lucked out!] to match the contours of my ering and they have a little chip diamond in them. I wanted something small and with a low profile as well. In my case the gold comes up around the diamond so the diamond itself is flush with the top, as I also wanted something that wouldn't be huge. The top photo is what the goldsmith created on the computer. The bottom photo is a picture I took on Saturday. When the rings are on my finger there is no gap, but if you look at the photo, there is a bit of a gap between my first band and the ering. If you wanted more info on pricing etc. send me a private message Hope that helps!
  22. Yay Michelle! I'm glad it was good. Can't wait to see pictures and review!
  23. Hooray for 8 months! It is going by fast! I've also had a slowdown in the wedding department. Started talking to the W.C at Barcelo (I waited until I figured the crazy wedding season was done, and she responded really quickly). Now I'm trying to decide things like what type of music do I want. The package comes with a Violin player, a saxaphone player, or a keyboard and bass player. What I'd really like is someone playing like Mexico guitar. Lol. So I'm kind of up in the air about that. Also looking at menu options and all that. Our R.S.V.P. date is coming up in about a month (we kind of picked an arbitrary date) as we sent out our invitations in February. I'm thinking of sending out a reminder email with some additional information to everyone (who has responded yes, or hasn't responded at all). Any thoughts? Or should I send it out after the date has passed? My T.A. made us a website, it is lacking some information, so I'm thinking of making a free one to add on more information. I think it would be fun to share that with everyone to, and maybe convince some of the people on the fence. We're at 31 booked so far! The weather has finally gotten nice here, I hope your summers are going well ladies!
  24. I know a girl in the Barcelo Maya thread used them, and had a good review.
