  1. That's about when we got ours too, good to know we saved. Luckily FI is Tungsten, but I had two gold bands so we still probably saved a bundle. I wish we would have gotten it when we got engaged almost three years ago!
  2. The price of gold is so high right now, they are costly! I'm glad he decided I needed two before we knew how much they cost
  3. Ack! if you're 96, I'm like 90 - probably less now! Crazy how time flies for sure! I had planned on a nice relaxing Oct/Nov to finish my thesis and do wedding stuff - now its mid October, I've been so busy moving into the Future BIL's place the past two weeks, then today we went and bought a house! Yay! Now in another two weeks I get to go move again . Someday I'll get my pre wedding yay you're coming letters out. I have luggage tags that people need! I also need to find actual bags for my OOT bags and travel mugs. Then I'm done them! So much to do!
  4. i did the same thing, two of them ended up getting ones from the bridal store anyways because they had difficulties finding ones they liked in green. If you had a more common colour, it would probably be easier. One of my girls got hers at the Bridal store - but it was a sample on sale for $50. So it was great! If you are wanting the same fabric and exact colour, I think you'll have issues finding them off the rack. If you want a similar colour, but not worried about the fabric as much - you might have an easier time. Just from my experience! What colour are you going for?
  5. Thanks J-me (which is coincidently also my name ) Here are the links, in Apple slice, Wasabi and apple slice. http://www.newyorkdress.com/Cynthia_Rowley/8009.html http://www.jasminebridal.com/ugC_Product_Detail.asp?hidP_kind=Bridesmaids&hidP_style=B2&hidj_line_order=1&hidP_Style_ID=B4083 http://www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/6574/
  6. Love them! Saturday is moving day, we pack up and move 1400km to Edmonton. Scary! Wedding stuff is on hold until after then, hopefully everything falls into place. My last bridesmaid found her dress on Monday, so that is all sorted. I had the Wedding Shower/Stagette two weekends ago with my Winnipeg friends, then a going away party the following weekend. One more pub night going away party on Thursday then its for real! My ladies dresses. I love green! I'm a little worried it might be too green, but hopefully not. I'll worry about that later once I can pull everything together - I can always make the chair ribbons brown to mix it up! How is everyone else doing, three months! Eek. 7. I initially wanted my girls to go all crazy and get completely different dresses within a few shades of each other, and they all have similar taste, so we ended up matching pretty well! The styles all complement their body types and styles, I'm excited they got it all figured out
  8. We had the opposite problem, my FI has a slimmer build (even for a hockey player ) and a lot of the suits looked really big on him, Le Chateau was perfect. So it really depends the build of your man friend
  9. Sorry, should have included this above, but I found Bloombridal it to be the same price (for the Orchids) plus converting to US (not a problem right now, but it was a few months ago) plus duty (I would imagine ~$50? on a $300 order) plus higher shipping. Other flowers may be less though!
  10. I ended up ordering from Bloombridal. I priced them all out, and bloombridal was a little more more expensive (by maybe $20 overall), but for me it was worth it. Here is my own experiences with this specific flower in mind, and the places I contacted. I used the same letter to all of them, along with any extra forms etc. they asked for. "Hello, I am interested in getting a bridal bouquet made, along with three bridesmaids bouquets and a few bouts and other assorted things. My inspiration bouquet is found here. http://thefrenchbouquettulsa.com/blog/?p=3155 Though instead of yellow roses, I would be interested in yellow plumeria, and possibly hydrangea instead of the white orchids. For the bridesmaids, I was thinking hydrangea and plumeria, with potentially one or two orchids. Would I be able to get a quote on the brides bouquet (standard size, 10 inches?) and 3 smaller bridesmaids bouquets. Thank you for your time I look forward to hearing from you! Cheers, " Enchanting Memories http://enchantingmemoriesstore.com/1.html - I was initially planning to use enchanting memories because the ladies were just so nice, and it was slightly cheaper (and Canadian), but I just could with the Orchids they had. The reason I was doing a real touch bouquet and not one from the resort is that I wanted green Cymbidium orchids. They are $25 each for a bridal bouquet at my resort. The only other negative is that she kept "encouraging" me to buy stuff from their wedding store. I loved their plumerias, but their not botanically correct (and very phallic?) orchids were a no go for me. Bloom Bridals Orchid Enchanting Memories Bridal Blooms by Laura - http://www.bridalbloomsbylaura.ca/index2.php#/home/ I emailed this girl, and received about 5 separate emails back saying the same thing, and that she would send me photos/prices etc. I never received any of that information from her, then she emailed me again asking why I hadn't replied. Needless to say, I didn't go with her. She seemed very disorganized. Wedideas - http://www.wedideas.com/ I really liked their work too, and their prices are actually quite similar to Bloom Bridal, if not exactly the same. I tried to fill out their custom order form to get a quote, but they wanted you to point to something on their webpage as a base. I was confused as they didn't have anything similar, so I filled it out the best I could, and sent a note. The response I got was "PLS SEND ME A QUOTE REQUEST." That was the entire email. I tried emailing the other address, and the response was very helpful, but the damage had already been done. Plus the prices were the same as Bloombridal, and the US dollar wasn't so good at the time, plus shipping and duty were to be added on top of it. I pulled together a few similar bouquets from both sites 11x11 from Wedideas $115 US 11 x 11 from BloomBridal $115 Cdn Bloombridal Judy replied to me the quickest, and included everything I needed to know. Right away that gave me a good vibe. She answered all of my questions and made great suggestions. In gmail it keeps all of your emails together in a conversation, and I see I have 27 messages from her (lots of questions!). As noted above, my main flowers was the orchid, and I really like the ones Bloom uses. I also like her variety of Plumeria. Additionally she has flowers available for purchase for decorations etc at a lower rate than listed on her website (I know a few others did extra flowers as well). As soon as I get my flowers (November) I'll be sure to post them! I also checked out a variety of craft/silk flower etc. stores in Winnipeg and couldn't find Orchids to compare, and found that doing it myself wasn't really any cheaper. (For example http://www.houseofsilk.ca/wedding-flowers.html, http://www.galeswholesale.com/, Michaels). I hope that helps anyone who is still searching, I spent a heck of a lot of time researching and choosing what places to email and then where to go!
  11. Love! This is what I was initially wanting, but wasn't sure if it was doable down in Mexico, beautiful!
  12. I'm so lost on jewellery still, I've been looking for over a year and I still can't find it! My dress is simple in the fact that I didn't want any sparkley blinging things on it, so I can definitely go blingy for jewellery. I have a sweetheart neckline, and will wear my hair up loosely, and I don't overly want pearls. The quest continues!
  13. Not quite sure why the pictures went all weird spaced! Eek
  14. I think I posted some photos of my rings on a flower somewhere in this thread, I was feeling bored and decided to play around with taking photos of them on my hand. I have three rings in White and Rose Gold (the two little ones with a little diamond, and the middle one which was my engagement ring). We got legally married a year before our actual wedding, so I wear one of the rings now (if anyone notices, I just tell them I Get two now because I'm awesome ). They were custom made, so they fit together perfectly, I love them! They need to be sautered (sp?) together to get rid of the spaces that show up while I'm wearing them. I was also playing around with the photos a bit, as I think the pictures make my small hands looks very sausagey! Lol.
  15. This is what one of my girls is wearing, in Apple Slice. They are all picking their own dresses in the same colour.
  16. Meggers I love your bouquet! Did you have it done by the resort? I've been in touch with Gabriela, and she has been amazing. Sometimes she replies the same day. If people are having issues - my advice is be polite and friendly. She has been so wonderful to work with thus far. Also I didn't try contacting her until Late April once I figured things had slowed down a bit, which may have helped. What did you do for your ceremony Meggers? Did you have the Huppah? Any photos of that? That's my next decision We seem to have similar tastes though, I'm doing a green theme
  17. My resort quote the center pieces I want for $45 each. By the time I bought vases (~$10 each?), flowers, probably about $50? maybe more, I want Orchids and Hydrangeas, Limes (not very much) plus the time on my hectic wedding day, I figure its probably worth it to just get it through the resort. That price seems pretty reasonable to me, considering the flowers are probably worth just about that much to just buy a bouquet in a florist shop. This is what I want (but with Yellow flowers, and green orchids instead of roses, and white hydrangeas).
  18. Yay my house is officially sold now, officially moving to Edmonton! Scary. I was worried about my dress fittings, and the store is being super awesome, I'll go in for my "final fitting" right before I move in October. They are going to keep my dress for me, then the day before I fly out I'm coming back to Winnipeg. I'll go to the shop first thing in the morning, then we'll do one more fitting, and then come back at the end of the day and they will have made any changes. They also have some system of packing up your dress. I'm supposed to bring my carry on bag, a sheet and whatever else I'm packing carry on and they take about 15 minutes and pack it up for me. My friend had this done for a big puffy dress when she got married in Italy, and said it turned out great. Thats kind of a nice alternative to worrying about the closet. They must roll it or something? I had one of my guest drop out, due to their sister/daughter having a baby now, during the wedding, but still 31 booked! One of my BM has her dress (my MoH). One of my BM is a teacher, so we're still trying to find out if she can make it. Hopefully she can, if she can't - do I ask someone else? Or just have two? My sister is coming down in two weeks and we're going to find her dress. Since I'm moving, I'm also having a shower/bachelorette party while my sister is down for my friends here. September will be so busy! Groom and groomsmen are all sorted out (I think a few GM need shoes yet, but otherwise good). Just need actual bags and mugs for OOT bags, anda few more hand sanitizers. I'm waiting for more to show up in clearance at Bath and Body Works. I had some for $0.50, and I was starting to fill up my basket as there was just enough. As I was doing it, apparently these two other women thought they needed some, so they started grabbing handfuls. I mentioned that they were for my wedding, and they ignored me! So I'm about 10 short. At least I can just go buy regular ones if I have to. I was surprised they thought they needed handfuls of hand sanitizers because I was. My wedding coordinator has been amazing, really quick to reply. We have our locations for Ceremony, Cocktail Hour and Reception all picked out. We went to a friends wedding and they had a cocktail hour, and FH enjoyed it so much he thought we should have one. Score! All in all, I think things are well. Once we get moved and settled, I will hopefully have time to finish everything off! Hope you ladies are doing well!
  19. I love the gray suits, I was veto'd though, he really wanted to wear the tan.
  20. My FI got the pants from Le Chateau. He's wearing brown leather flip flop sandals. He opted to not have a jacket, and I'm good with that, I think he looks good Their linen stuff is on clearance right now, so its pretty inexpensive. I've also heard some girls got stuff at Old Navy and Banana Republic.
  21. One of my BM's was looking for them too. Here are ones I found for her to look at! I think she's going to order the Dessy one. http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/green-jersey-wrap-dress http://www.dessy.com/dresses/twist-short/ http://www.twobirdsbridesmaid.ca/dress/classic http://www.etsy.com/listing/79001574/butterfly-chameleon-convertible http://www.etsy.com/listing/65382604/the-jersey-maid-convertible-wrap-jersey Quote: Originally Posted by Cdunn514 I am using victorias secret multi-way dress for my bridesmaid dresses, I am not sure what colors they have in them, mine are a dark purple
  22. Ooh I never even thought of checking Old Navy, I've been there a million times and have never bought anything but tank tops there! That is a great idea about the TTD, instead of getting the wedding ones icky (if he would want to wear them again). I'll have to go check it out! Maybe pick a pair up in another colour for the a la cartes as someone else suggested. Yay this page! I still really like the Le Chateau ones on him, he has a slimmer build though, so that is likely why they worked so well.
  23. To be honest, no idea! I have 29 booked on ACV - you'd have to ask your T.A.
