  1. We had the Mango Scallop Ceviche, our presentation was more fun though. It was in half a coconut! We had the Lemon and Chicken Soup from Merida - which was delicious! It just looked like chicken noodle soup. Surf and Turf was our main - it was plated differently than the photo below, I don't have a picture of it yet. Our chocolate fondant cake was round, but plated similar. Everything was delicious!
  2. We got married on Thursday (12th) and it was awesome! A few minor bumps, but practically perfect. Our only two bumps were that - they kind of wrecked my cake. I had butterflies to put on it - but they were edible, and weren't supposed to be refrigerated as they wilted. It said on the package not to refrigerate, but I guess with the language barrier I should have communicated it more clearly. It was still delicious though! The other one was that the Hubby got food poisoning, or the flu or something the night before, and spent the morning being pretty sick. I was pretty worried for a while - but luckily a combination of immodium/pepto/gravol and him being a trooper, and we got through it. We didn't go out with out guests after the wedding to let him rest a bit, but they all went to the lobby bar and continued the party. We also added an extra hour, we figured we'd need it so we did it ahead of time. We also used the ipod and it worked great. My only advice would be to lock it. Some of our guests got a little overzealous (and had a few to many shots of tequila) and tried to play DJ. So we had a few minutes of skipping songs halfway (when they were songs we had deliberately put on there for certain people) and people resetting the playlist so songs played again etc. I was a little choked after the time I spent on the playlist, but we still had fun. I would designate a "DJ" and have them be the only one allowed to touch it. We had a few guests from the beach, and that night (and a few other nights) they joined us at the Palace Lobbey Bar. No one ever got asked to leave, so I guess you just have to be sneaky. The pictures are still coming in - so once I get some good ones I'll post them. I'll probably post a few below in reply to peoples recent questions.
  3. Just got back last night, it was such an AWESOME week! A few minor bumps (they kind of ruined my cake, but at least it was delicious) and hubby (ha!) got the flu or food poisoning the night before, and the morning of! That was almost a major bump, but he took a lot of pills and troopered through. The only bad part is that he couldn't really eat any of our wedding dinner. I'll be sure to post some pics etc. in the next few days! Congrats to all the ladies that are up soon, or left while I was there!
  4. Thank you! If you have any Barcelo questions, have them ready for when I get back
  5. yay congrats ladies!! We start our trip on Friday!! I can't believe we're here!!!!
  6. I think all hotels get you for that. I was hosting a conference, and they said they had free Wifi, but recommended we use the hardline internet for a better connection. Needless to say I wasn't impressed with a $120 PER DAY charge to run a cord from the wall to our laptop.
  7. Wow ladies, I can't believe we're almost there! So sorry about your dad J & G, I'm glad you're feeling chipper about it. My parents are divorced to, I'm hoping they get along all week! We leave in a week! Holy Crap! Congrats to everyone leaving before me, I can't wait to see all the photos!
  8. Thanks for the head's up! I'll be printing my email that says it's only $300 and bringing it along!
  9. Looks great!! Luckily (or unluckily?) The FI started a new job last week, so he has to work through Christmas now. Our friends that were supposed to come out decided they wouldn't come since he's working (night shift, so sleeping during the day), so its just me for Christmas! Hopefully I'll be able to get things done, then the week after I get to see all my family and such, so I'm not to worried about it. Here is my favourite shot from my boudoir session and one more for good luck
  10. I know what you mean! We're there January 7-14, wedding on the 12th! How about you Mrs. Menuk (soon)?
  11. I used the wedding wire seating chart maker, I need to make the cards or something though for the names! Ack, I didn't really think of that. >.< It's coming up so soon, I really need to get one that. 25 Days, I really need to make a list, and get on it. Eek.
  12. Same for me, I really wanted the Cymbidium Orchids, and they were crazy expensive down there. I also was sad that I would spend X hundred dollars on flowers, and then have to leave them there a day later. This way I can keep them, and enjoy them. I only had 3 bridesmaids/grooms, but I ordered extra flowers and I made bouts for our dads, and corsages for our moms and grandmas.
  13. I believe the 8th out of Calgary. We're still flying out of WInnipeg though on the 7 th, since the Alberta flight was a day later we figured we fly back to Winnipeg on the 6th so we could leave with the bulk of our guests.
  14. Same, we're flying out of Calgary and Winnipeg. *Knock Wood* That's so funny we all got our flowers from Bloom Bridal! I thought I was taking a chance, since there wasn't really info on them on the board. January brides, you are my favourite.
  15. Sorry for the mass postings. I find it kind of odd, that I worried so much about the flowers and OOT bags, yet I have no preferences when it comes to things like Ceremony music or reception schedule! I probably should plan some of that stuff out - or else I'll maybe just wing it and see what the resort does.
  16. I need to talk to my FI and see if we even want to do the dance! If we do, I think it would be a combo dance too, I like the idea of the oldies!
  17. Haha, I took it as you had lost 32lbs as of last week, not even thinking the other one. Lol. Please don't gain 32lbs in one week, we'll miss you on the boards J and G!
  18. I bought a secondhand dress for my TTD for $100. Less than a month and I get to try it out! Yay!!
  19. Is anyone else beginning to think that maybe the beginning of January wasn't the best time to get married, I had company all last week and between that and all the other Christmas stuff - all of my hard work in October and November to get in shape and lose those last few pounds seems to have come undone! It's not even Christmas yet!
  20. Maybe you could get a few of the roses or something put in them, to spice them up a bit? Looks great!!
