  1. Thanks both Brandys!! I would like to do the calypso band too, sometime during the two hr reception....but not sure when..Is the begining better when everyone is getting drinks and mingaling, or the last hour? I just dont want them to be playing during the plated dinner, i dont think people will enjoy it that much, and we are big talkers anyway so no one will be paying attention...thoughts?
  2. Brandy-- How long private reception are you doing? And what have you decided on music..i know at one point i remember you saying somthing about the calypso band....let me know!!!
  3. They REALLY helped me pick the location, since at first we were all over the map. She answered all my questions regarding booking and wedding questions. They do have someone who works there who just does the wedding part, i have not been in contact with her yet as i am a year out. I am ggoing to book airfare next week or so, after that i expect to talk to thier WC to get more up to date info on the wedding packages my resort offers. My brother booked his honeymoon through them a few years ago and was very happy, and so far i have been pleased as well, as has my FMIL who called and booked and got info about the resort from Valerie. Also, they give you a little wedding website on thier website, which i think is nice for the guests. Let me know if you have any questions...Good Luck!
  4. Hi Avelyad! We are definitly booked for 1/21/12---3pm ceremony time, bc 4pm was already taken....and we booked last month, a year in advance!! I dont know about having dinner in one of the restaurants, my TA said they dont take reservations for this many people, out of respect for the other guests at the resort. But then again, i have heard many girls say they did this, that their WC at the resort hooked them up...so i dont know!!!! My other thought is that my guests are coming and paying so much, that us shelling out the dough for a private reception is the least we can do. I dont think i want to risk us all not sitting together in one of the restaurants, ya know? Thank god i have a year to decide!!
  5. Wow! Thanks Timswife! I have not seen this before, the info i got just has the 30 min,1hr,2hr, or 3 hr reception in it, with prices ranging from $15-$75 a head. Are they not doing that anymore??
  6. My TA told me anything with 'honeymoon' in front of it is the same as the one without. It is apparently just so they know your honeymooning. We also booked this room, im not to particularly worried, I plan to be on the beach the whole time!!
  7. Are you doing pics? Cause that will be some fill time. I'm thinking of doing the 2 hr reception. From the reviews I have read everyone says it's worth it. How many people you got?
  8. This is great!! So much easier than using safari on my iPhone!!! Than you! Totally worth the $2.99!!
  9. Hey, Im from Monmouth county !!! I am using TravelSmith in Point Pleasant (Valerie) and she has been awesome!! My FI went to Liberty Travel (eatontown) 2 years ago and booked us a vacay to Mexico, and while the resort itself was amazing, i was a little upset that the TA never mentioned the sandbags in the water at the resort.. The beach was pretty much useless to me. I think for the amount of money we spent, she could have told us that minor detail. Valerie @ Travelsmiths has been really good, as has the owner. I have sent her a million emails with stupid questions, and she always responds promptly. And she never pressured us to book until we were ready. Where/when are you planning your wedding?? Good luck with everything!!!
  10. wait a sec---so if i am doing BB and getting married in a gazebo, do I have to pay for chairs??? I have never heard this, and havent spoke to any WC yet, so girls please update me when you get info!!! And Brandy, I am also in the basic room hoping for an upgrade!! We are going for a longer stay, so we are sacrificing the better room for more days in paradise And one more thing, I am going to meet my invite lady in 3 weeks, so i have started working on my invite wording....I am trying to include on one of the boarding passes a little write up of the 'location' and the 'accomodations' . Did any of you girls do this and have an example of your invite i could see (and possiblely 'borrow' some wording) ??? thanks in advance!!
  11. We deposited last month for our Jan 2012 wedding. Some of my family has already deposited as well. I was told airfare rates come out 11 months in advance, so you might want to call around and see what other TA's say. I plan on buying airfare pretty soon after it comes out , hoping to get a good early price. Good Luck!
  12. Thaks for the info. the set up fee isnt that bad, considering how much $ extra tables cost!!! The arch is great, but you are right $650 is nuts!!! We will probably just stick with our original plan of getting married in the gazebo. Im glad to hear the 2 hr reception was perfect, we are looing at about 25 (max) guests, and are going back and forth between the 2 and 3 hour receptions, Great info!!!!!
  13. I am going to find a nice, authentic map of Turks and Caicos and have our guyest sign that...then frame it and display it in our home
  14. Thank you!! so did they actually set up your candles? or did you? and one more thing, (lol) how much extra was the arch on the beach? I really liked it!!!! I saw your pics, you looked amazing, and most ofall you both looked soooo happy thats really what its all about! Congrats!
  15. Cepreto, Great reviews and video!! thanks sooo much! What package did you do? was the arch on the beach included in that or extra?? Did they charge you a fee to put your own centerpieces on the tables?? We are dying to see the pictures, but you need a user name/password!! Congrats and thanks in advance for all the info!
  16. I am going to put something that pertains to each person in thier bag....like my FMIL is obsessed with dark chocolate, so she getting some darks choc candy bars in hers. My FSIL is a health freak, so i am gonna put some KIND bars in hers, and so on. I think it makes it a little more personable this way, and we are going to have under 20 guest so it wont be a huge PITA to add a few extra special things to each ones individual bag.
  17. Thanks for the idea about renting a jeep!!! $144 seems pretty resonable for 24 hours!!! I am definitly going to remember this for me and honey during the 'honeymoon' phase of the wedding!!! Sounds like fun!
  18. I am going to get a nice authentic map of Turks and Caicos and have everyone sign that. Then frame it when we get back.
  19. My TA told me the same thing for Beaches Turks.....I am not holding rooms for anyone. When we put our deposit down, i sent out an email to my friends and family and told them that we booked at a certain price, and they could tnow, or if they want to wait they can but we cant guarentee they will be at the price they are now. Everyone appreciated the heads up, since it is a year in advance. Also, we are getting married at the end of Jan 2011, so i doubt the resort will sell out.
  20. We also were going to do the FV, and our TA re-directed us, and 3 of our guests who already booked to the CV....Im cool with it, we are beach people so i dont see us in our room alot anyway. The one thing that does annoy me is that there is no room service (except butler rooms) and we dont have a mini bar in our room. For the price of T&C every room should have this. Hopefully we will get upgraded, but if not we will just deal with it! No biggie! We alos are hopefully seaying for 10 days, so in order to do that we had to go with a lower cat room.
  21. So my plan was this: Send invites to our DW to all of the people we REALLY want to be there, then later send invites to the AHR to everyone (since we havent picked a date for it yet)...So my question is, who gets invites to the shower? Everyone, or is that rude? This is perplexing me! I'd love to know how you girls are approaching this! Thank you in advance!!
