  1. So, I really want to wear a white (Optical white - which is said to be stark white) wedding dress for my wedding. There are two reasons I want it to be stark white. 1. I think it looks amazing against the turquoise sea backdrop 2. Our drapery and chairs during the ceremony will be white and I do not want my dress to look dirty next to them by wearing off-white. Pronovias has 2 choices in the dress I like and that is Optical white and Off-white. It seems 98% of brides on this forum (and every other bride I've talked to), even the sales associates push the off-white, but I honestly do not want to wear something that will look dirty at my ceremony and reception. So, if you have worn or have bought a dress in white, pure white, stark white, optical white, please show off your beautiful dresses I feel like I'm alone here on this!
  2. Just as an FYI ladies, I noticed on the Palace website they are currently doing a promotion "Kids Stay Free" for this summer and now into the fall. It applies to children 12 and under, staying for a minimum of 3 nights. So, if you don't already have it in your contract, you may want to have your TA add it. Just looking out
  3. I didn't know you could release any unused rooms beforehand, for no charge! Maybe I wasn't listening when he said that lol! I'll have to email him. But, that is a good idea to book the lower category ones. I think we'll go ahead and do that then! But, I think we'll do 15 of the those. Thanks for the info!!!
  4. Well, since its clear you love both dresses, you need to start thinking more about which one will fit your theme/wedding style more. They are two different types of styles, so instead of beating yourself up about which dress you love more, start thinking about which one would fit in with the flowers you like, the dresses you want your bridesmaids to wear, what your groom is wearing, your ceremony and reception decor, etc... stuff like that... I love both of your dresses as well, but for me I would pick dress #2, BUT that is only because it fits what I'm going for. I'm getting married in mexico and my theme is very latin oriented with mariachi band and all, so a mermaid flamenco style dress like this would 'fit' my wedding style. However, if I decided to go with a more modern yet classy theme, then I would have chosen dress #1, you see what I'm saying? I really hope this helps. I had the same problem, but with more dresses LOL! Alot of dresses are going to look beautiful on you, but since you have to make a decision you have to start narrowing them down some how and for me, this was the only way. Good luck and I'll know you'll love which ever dress you get and will look stunning!! Congrats, if I don't run across you again on the forum before you get married!!!
  5. How much does DJ Mannia charge for 4 hours? Would you highly recommend him? Is it cheaper or more expensive than the resort DJ? And do you remember who the resort has hired to do their DJing? Thanks for the info
  6. Can anyone recommend a local DJ from Riviera Maya? I've booked the wedding date, photog, now the only big thing I need done is this. Please post the DJ and what quote they gave you. Thanks for your help and advice ladies!!
  7. Question... Has anyone booked a DJ? And if so, which DJ did you choose? Are we allowed to use outside DJ's or does the resort require us to use a DJ from their resort? If we have to use their DJ, can we use Resort Credits towards it??
  8. @jasonandjessica, my wedding isn't until 2012, but we booked Diego Munoz for our wedding day and TTD session. I would check him out; he's reasonable for the time and product you recieve. Though I'm not sure if he'll have an available date; he said he already has bookings in 2012 and in 2013. But, its worth a shot @perry1217, CONGRATS!!! How exciting! We met with our TA and we still have to decide if and how may rooms for a group booking or if we would like to to be individual booking. I think we may just book a few rooms (maybe 10 or 15?) and do individual bookings. How many rooms are you booking?
  9. @Sarcrook! Thanks so much for posting this! It's been hard finding just regular orange as a bridesmaids dress color (everyone seems to only carry coral, burnt orange or tangerine), so this is perfect! I used the store locator to find a store that carries Liz Fields and called them. Told her I was having a destination wedding, colors are fushia and orange, blah blah blah and she stated that they also have 2 other designers that are similar in price and are also cute; they are Pretty Maids and Jordan. So, if any of you ladies out there can't find anything else from Liz, I would check these two out Congrats to you all!
  10. Hey again ladies! Do any of you know if we can spend any of the $1,500 resort credit on wedding stuff if we got the Complimentary Package?? I'm sure you can't use all of it on it, but I was wondering if a portion is approved to use towards the wedding, since they let you use a portion on the other wedding packages.
  11. Can anyone that has used Mexican Wedding Photos comment on how their album and video turned out? It comes with a package I'm interested in, but I'm still debating on the photographer I want, so I want to know if it is worth it. Any other additional comments on this company would be greatly appreciated
  12. Lauren (the Wedding Sales Coordinator) said that they will be in contact 3 months before the wedding date. This is what it states in the contract, but not sure if this is actually what they end up doing. I hope to hear from them a little sooner though to plan out what I can purchase through the Coordinator, so I can decide on what I would prefer to bring as decor and/or favors AND have enough time to get everything shipped and make sure the order is correct, etc..
  13. Thanks for the email addy!!! I will definitely check him out. Are we allowed to hire one on our own? If so do we have to pay for day passes for them or how does that work?
  14. Does anyone know how much the resort DJ will cost? And does any of the ladies who have already been married here have a sheet of the different lighting options and their prices? Any help is much appreciated!!
  15. Congratulations!!! I just got our date confirmed in June 2012 too! How exciting I can't wait!!
  16. Congrats!!! Thanks for clarification of the charge form! I feel better now. Am definitely faxing those forms in ASAP! I am also, making the final decision on my TA. I'm going with a local one, however there are others throughout the US. The company is called All About Honeymoons and Destination Weddings. I would look into them too if you want. He's gonna be sending out travel and accomodation packages to all my invited guests. They'll contain a couple different options with different lengths of stay and other important info about passports, etc. We only have to give him $250 (which is actually applied towards our stay) and he does all the rest. This is my first time working with a TA, so this may be normal, but just thought I'd share with you all just in case. But Congrats again!!
  17. Ok, Question... I just received our Wedding date and time confirmation. Lauren (the wedding sales exec.) sent me this in a contract and also included in the email was a Charge Authorization form. I'm ok with signing the contract right now, but as far as the Charge Authorization Form, why would I need to do this if I'm getting the Complimentary Package? Perry1217 did you already sign these? I know you're getting the Comp Package to, just need some clarification on what the Charge Form is for. Tanya Marie do you have any input on this? We aren't sure how many guests were having yet and I don't want to over or under estimate.
  18. Hi again!! Our date is currently set for 6/2/12 (its a Saturday). And that's exactly what we were going to do. We want to do the legal part when we get back. I don't want to do it before, because I don't want it to feel like we've done it before, ya know. I'd rather we get the full effect on the beach at PP We want to get the non-denominational Christian Minister, so hopefully it'll feel a little more like a church wedding. Are you getting married on the beach too? I'm so excited! And thanks for starting this thread btw! I look forward to all the planning in the months ahead of us. Also, are you getting a Travel Agent? I think I may just get one for the bargaining part and to answer all our guests questions, etc. We met with one and he said he'd basically plan everything, but I kind of enjoy figuring out cool ideas and finding ways to save, etc. so, we'll see how this goes.
  19. Hi ladies! I am also a 2012 bride and have chosen PP for our DW. And Perry1217, my fiance and I are also doing the symbolic there and considering that to be our true anniversary date. We figure it will bring the cost down and we can use that extra money on the reception, etc. So, have either of you contacted the hotel to find out when they will be booking for 2012? We would also like to book as soon as possible to make sure that we get the date we've chosen. Well, hope both of you have a Happy New Year! I'll be checking in again soon
  20. And I would also like to know how long do they allow under the Hut? Is this location available for a cocktail hour or even a reception?
  21. Tanya Marie and CamilleA, I still haven't chosen what resort to have my DW at. So far, I think I've narrowed it to Sandos Playacar and Playacar Palace. I really do love that PP is more intimate and the fact that you don't have to walk very long to get around on the resort. However, the only real big thing that I am concerned about is Photo Ops. It doesn't look like there are a lot of places on the resort to take different types of pictures. So, my question is where did you ladies end up taking your pictures (the bride and groom pics)? I'm at work right now, so I can't open Tanya Marie's pictures, but if you included them in there, please ignore this question (I will check them when I get home) Also, did they have options for live music on the beach? I was interested in hiring a Mariachi band, but have no idea how much they cost at the Palace Resorts. And the last question is did you hire outside photographers? If so, who did you pick? And did the resort allow it as long as you bought them a day pass? I was thinking of going with Octavio Montes, but I want to keep my options open, just in case.
  22. Hey Ladies! Does anyone have the email address for Eduardo the WC? I can't seem to find an email address for him.
