  1. More to come tomorrow... please let me know what you think so far!
  2. This is the flower basket and sea shell holder that I made. The basket I bought at Michaels for about $2 on sale. Then I bought a half a yard of ivory fabric from a fabric store to line the basket (just use hot glue gun to seal the fabric on). I hot glue gunned mini sand dollars on the handle part and and mini starfish on the top of the basket (on the fabric part). I used raffia ($5.99 for a whole bunch at Michael's) and tied it in a bow around the handles (I have since cut the ends of the raffia, so that it doesn't hang too long and also finished the inside - sorry haven't taken a picture of these since I finished them up). For the sea shell holder (ring holder)... I bought the shell from Michael's ($2?) and used some of my leftover ivory fabric to line the inside of the shell. I cut a circular sized piece, then hot glue gunned the edges underneath to not have jaggedy edges. I then took a flower bud (from flowers I will be using in other parts of the wedding) and hot glued gunned it to the shell. Lastly, I cut 2 short strands of raffia under the flower petals and these will be used to tie the rings, so they won't fall off the shell....
  3. This is what my bridesmaids will be wearing... they will be wearing their hair up with a flower to match their dress... still have yet to find a flower hair clip that I like though... if anyone knows a good place to find some let me know
  4. This is the bridesmaids bouquets... I flowers from Garden Ridge. They came in bundles (about 9 stems each for the dahlias... both the dahlia bundles and hydrangeas were $2.99 each. Since this picture, I have cut the stems with wire cutters to my desired length, wrapped them with floral tape ($1.99 at Michael's) and bought a roll of fuchsia/hot pink ribbon (2 for $3 at michaels). I sealed the ends of the ribbon with a hot glue gun.
  5. This is my bouquet I will be getting these fresh from a local florist in PDC... I'm splurging on this one...
  6. Hi all! I decided to start my own planning thread as my wedding is about 9 months out now and I am DIY'ing as much as possible (on a tight budget!). Anyhow, I know there will be new brides that may need some ideas or inspiration, so here goes
  7. Not sure what your plans are with your reception center pieces but Michaels has gold plates that I think are $1.50 each. They sell them in the candle aisle to put your candles on. We're actually using a lighter gold color that they also sell; we're going to fill the bottom with sand, then put the 3 candles in the middle (they are LED, but are different heights and flicker like real ones - $19.99, but about $12 total (with 40% coupon)/per box of 3, then use accent flowers (the colors of our wedding) and scatter some sea shells (from Dollar Tree ) around on the sand part... if this all makes sense lol! Just an idea though
  8. fyi, these are the bm bouquets, not mine... not willing to negotiate on that (tee hee).
  9. Ok ladies I've decided that I'm not getting the one's I originally posted. I had to make the hard decision and make them myself, so I got some silk orange dahlias and fuchsia hydrangeas and put them together into a nice bouquet. Tell me if you think these are ok. For some reason the orange doesn't look like it does in real life lol (I think it was the bathroom light making it look almost neon, ick!) but it is more of just a regular orange and the fuchsia matches the hot pink dresses our bm's will be wearing...
  10. Sorry, I can't open the attachments you copied. Can you insert the image instead?
  11. I think I got them from Shoes.com. They are by Luichiny and are called 'Stun-ning'. I unfortunately had to return them b/c that ruffle part over the foot wasn't 'ruffling' on the right shoe, it just laid flat ontop of my foot which was not cute at all. But, that may have just been my pair. I wish that mine weren't the last pair in my size or I would've did an exchange, ya know? They have free returns, so I would still order them to check them out if you're still interested.
  12. Thanks! I love them too, but at every wedding I've been to they always have very similar bouquets with usually the brides bouquet being a bigger version of the bm's bouquets. But, I think I'm gonna go ahead and do what I want lol! Thanks for the support
  13. Thanks! I really do like both, but I hope it won't matter, since my bouquet is white anyways... its not like its purple or something completely different right? And the BM dresses are by Bari Jay Style#230 I think and the color is Hot Pink. You can go on the Bari Jay website and find a store close to you that sells them
  14. Hey Ladies! I'm really having a hard time figuring out what flowers to go with. I think I'm going to go ahead and make or buy artificial flower bouquets for my BM's, then order mine fresh from the local florist (trying to save $$$ here). Buuuut... my bouquet is completely different in color and flower type from my BM's. Here is a picture of my bouquet (the white one) that I'm having made and the one I picked out for my BM's (fuchsia and orange one). I'm also copying a pic of their dress and my dress. Please let me know if you think its tacky... and PLEASE be honest. If they don't look right together, please let me know if you have any suggestions Thanks!!!
  15. I meant $320 more than what the resort requires for booking a certain amount of rooms...
  16. First of all Congrats and Welcome!!! I was wondering the same about where to have a welcome cocktail reception. I think the beach (I think this is an additional $6/pp though) or south solarium would be great locations. However, if I don't end up getting 75 room nights booked, I may probably just say somewhere on the itenerary to meet at one of the bars for a meet and greet or something like that. As far as the favors, etc goes... I'm gonna end up lugging my stuff down. I think most of the resorts now will not let you ship your stuff directly to them anymore. I'm not sure if you were planning on bringing your gifts for your wedding party down there with you, but if you are... my fiance came up with the idea of just giving our wedding party their gifts either at the wedding shower or the night of our joint bachelor/bachlorette party. I liked the idea because it would mean less stuff to lug, but I still like the tradition of giving their gifts at the rehearsal dinner... so we'll see. Also, another good florist I've been reading about is Maya Diseno. I plan on sending a picture of what I want our bouquets to look like, then see who gives me the best deal for them. But, both of them I've heard are great Last but not least regarding your TA... I definitely would also look at what other TA's are offering (so you can compare to see if you're getting a good/fair deal). I originally went with 'All About Honeymoons and Destination Weddings' and I am SOOOO glad I switched. Jack was SOOO much slower to respond and when he did he lacked thoroughness and only left me with even more questions and once I left him for Teresa (sounds funny hehe) I found he was trying to charge us $320 more than what the resort requires!! Right now I have Teresa Stauring with 'Vacations for Less'. She seems to be a popular choice when it comes to TA's (she IS really amazing). She responds fast and thoroughly and will get you great deals. I love her Hope this helps
  17. Hey all! So, I've been trying to think about different options for the centerpieces. I'm starting to think I want some candles incorporated. Will they stay lit if we're having our reception on one of the Solariums? Or will they keep blowing out from the wind? Also, what is everyone else on here doing or did for your centerpieces?
  18. Hey ladies! I just wanted to let you guys know that in my search for a Michael's coupon, I found one on their website for 40% off any regular priced item. You can use one coupon per customer per day. The coupon is only for this week though. I plan to go back today and the next couple days, so I can get our monogram cake topper, sand for the sand ceremony and some more flower petals. I'm not sure if Michael's always has these types of coupons, but thought I'd let you all know just in case
  19. Thanks Tanya Marie! I sent an email to our WP to hopefully reserve our locations. I'm hoping I'll be able to confirm it with her. Perry1217- Thanks for the info! I thought the ferry to Cozumel was more than that for some reason... great information!
  20. Does anyone know when we are allowed to pick our ceremony site and reception site on the resort? I just want to do it as early as possible, so that I can ensure I get what I want. My Palace Wedding Planner (Mercedes) contacted me the other day and basically said she was going to help me with the planning and when the date gets closer everything would be handled by the on-site/resort Wedding Coordinator. Any past PP brides, please shed some light on this and also on what exactly I can begin 'planning' with the WP.
  21. Welcome Shan! I've heard that too about the civil ceremony. However, you can get someone to officiate that is coming, if you do a symbolic ceremony. My uncle is a Reverend, so we were planning on having him officiate. I think you can also write your own vows if you choose the symbolic, but I want more of the traditional vows... and I don't want to look crazy if I find myself in an 'ugly cry' trying to read my part LOL!
  22. jszy10 - they are perfect! I was planning on doing a brochure and Ltag as well, but you included things I didn't even think of, sooo... it is ok if I plagerize... LOL! Your wording and set up is PERFECT! Thanks for sharing
  23. Hey ladies! For the sand I would recommend wearing a wedge (a wider wedge would be better; stay away from the ones that come to a point on the heel) and then purchase a pair of reception shoes (if you are having your reception on some type of hard floor - ballroom, terrace, etc.). Victoria's Secret has a lot of wedges to choose from and they are not all that expensive. I got a pair of white 3.5 inch wedges with a 1/2 inch platform for $19! I also bought a pair of designer heels for the reception part to satisfy my cute wedding shoe need Hope it works out for all of you!
