So we're back from our trip. We returned last night. I wish the weather was more accommodating, as it had rained the first day we got there. On the first day we visited two resorts, Rose Hall (Hilton) & Iberostar Beach. We really liked both. We couldn't really cover much of the outside grounds at the Hilton because at the time of the visit it was pouring. However, the wedding coordinator gave us the round down and gave us a wedding outline. Pretty much if we can afford the Rose Hall we'd def book. They have great amenities including a water park, but their AI plans I hear are pricey and any of the add-ons. Right now we're in the process of seeing how much everything would be if we were to choose. But along side that Iberostar Beach was really nice as well and big. We learned that the Iberostar Resorts are the second biggest resorts in JA (first one being Grand Palladium). Anyhow I'm swayed towards Iberostar simply put because they offer the one wedding per day and their grounds too were nice for pics and scenery. We also visited the Riu hotels out in Negril and we were liked the Riu Tropical Palace's layout more so than Riu Negril. Only advantage with Riu Negril is it has a disco (club) whereas RTP does not. However, the perks of staying at RTP is you can use the disco at Riu Negril. We also saw Moon Dance Cliffs but have decided it won't work for us. There's no beach, just cliffs and we'd want our guests to have access to the beach whenever they wanted without having to catch a cab back and forth. So now we're just going to narrow down our top 2, draw up another budget and see which one will work best for us and our guests. Destination weddings are all about saving money & not going broke, so whatever works best for us and will offer a fab time is what we'll do. Sorry there are no pics to post, but the weather was horrible and we figured pics of all the resorts could be easily found on-line. Hope this mini review helps someone that was/is in the same boat as me.

Mrsdeloatch2be if you don't mind me asking how much of a different in price were your TA rates versus booking directly through the resort? This is something we're going to have to consider as well, so I just want some feedback. Also since you booked through a TA, was she able to get some perks, such as a room upgrade for you? I know booking directly through the resort may or may not guarantee this but it could happen either way. Look forward to hearing from you!

I'm do indecisive between Iberostar Beach and the Suites. I just returned from traveling over the weekend and went and visited Iberostar Beach. I must say I did like it. However, now I regret now going to see the Suites as well, considering they were right next door. Ugh! What's a girl to do? Can anyone offer suggestions re either resort? Sorry if this thread may have already been posted, but this issue is a must to resolve. Thanks!

My mistake I read it wrong, I see you wrote that the Suites is family friendly too.

It's funny Cam I sent you a message behind the scenes asking what is the difference between the Suites and the Beach and look I happened to run into your posting here about it. Being that the Suites is an adult only resort, would my fiance's 13 yr old sister who lives in JA, and who would only need a day pass for the wedding, not be allowed on property for the wedding?

Wow GOOD JOB with making the invites yourself! Now you have me second guessing getting mine made professionally and perhaps trying them myself as well!

My fiance and I visited the Rose Hall Hilton over the weekend and the hotel is beautiful, but like you said the reception fees are what can kill ya. We also visited Iberostar Rose Hall Beach, liked it, but wished we had also scheduled a visit to see the Suites as well. Decisions decisions! Wherever we decide will definitely be cost effective though!

We are considering "Is This Love" by Bob Marley - perfect bc we're going to wed in Jamaica. But as time goes on who knows, there are so many choices to think about.

I've worn weaves before so I know what you mean girl about putting it in a week early. I think the best to go for a wedding is a weave if need be. I definitely plan on doing so bc it's easier to maintain if it's upkept the right way. Thankfully for my wedding three of my good friends do hair so they will be able to help out and stuff and touch me and my bridal party when necessary.

Thanks everyone. I'm worried now though bc Hurricane Tomas is developing and it's suppose to possibly head to JA. I'm so mad! My fiance's telling me don't worry or jump the gun yet, but how can I not when we're scheduled to leave Fri morn, the same day apparently when the hurricane is suppose to make it's appearance. I just called Expedia to find out what can be done for our flight/hotel if need be. Please pray for us that this hurricane loses it's power overall and just goes away.
