  1. Mrs.Deloatch2be...girl I even said to myself, despite people "rsvping yes" they're coming, I won't believe anything until they've book their rooms and more importantly book their flight as well. At this point if we get 40 people I'll be glad, if we get 20 I'll be glad too, whichever way it works out, I just want a great time with my hubby to be on our special day. I do want a private reception though. It sucks because I can't even put a deposit down for the DJ until I am sure we will have the required amount of people necessary and booked in order to have one. Aye yi...the "joy" of planning I tell ya. Let's look on the bright when it's all said and done and we are all married, we can all look back a year from our wedding dates and rejoice!!
  2. I'm all for getting our guests excited, however, many of them think the Suites is very expensive. We live in NY and majority of our guests are flying from NY. Right now rates @ the Suites I see are $373 per night. I just did a general online search for air & room and it's about $1,010 pp for 5 days/4nights. In a way I'm starting to wonder if we should've picked a less "luxurious" hotel and went to a resort that's practical for all. My fiance feels differently. He said we can't please everyone, which I understand, but I don't want to hear people bickering either. I'm just going to pray about it and hope everything works out in the end. After all this is supposed to be a happy time in our lives.
  3. I am so jealous that a few of you brides who are getting married a few months after our Sept wedding already have some guests booked. How'd you do it? Up until now not one guest has booked a room for our wedding. Granted we gave them the option of booking through our TA or booking on their own. A part of me feels like many of them are waiting for their tax return before make a move. My fiance and I are going to be booking our room at the of this month, as our TA told us we had more than enough time. But still it'd be exciting to see at least a few people book, ya know?
  4. Wendy I like the design of this cardstock that you used for your cocktail reception. What section was it under on Vistaprint?
  5. Your flowers are very pretty. I'm considering using real touch/silk flowers in our wedding. Our colors are aqua, lime green and orange and like you I also want aqua to be in my bouquet as well as my bridesmaids. I know finding blue flowers in Jamaica is not going to happen, so getting the next best thing, silk flowers may be it. I also like the idea of being able to keep my bouquet forever. The amount of money spent on flowers these days is ridiculous!
  6. Starrysim are you serious about the open bar being charged per hour per person? Oh goodness that's ridiculous! At least here in NY, open bars are one set fee for the entire reception. Now I'm going to have to let my fiance know and we're going to have to weigh our options because that'll be too expensive. Are you guys planning on having a "meet & greet" for your guests? We want to, but we're thinking we will just tell everyone to meet us by a designated bar location and have them order drinks for free. I swear all inclusive resorts have their advantages and disadvantages all at the same time. Smh! I know It doesn't make any sense to be charging us for open bar considering it's an all-inclusive resort. I have seen other people say that they didn't pay for the open bar for various functions that were close to the resort bars, and the guests just got drinks for themselves from the bar. We're planning to do our ceremony on the lobby balcony - as I understand it there is a bar just inside, so that will be perfect for the post-ceremony cocktail hour. We haven't decided where we're going the dinner, but we'll probably end up getting a few hours of open bar there, which I'm not too happy about. It's charged per hour, too! I probably won't commit to it ahead of time, I'll decide once we're there an I can see the set-up and layout of everything, and maybe try to get them to include it for free.
  7. What's the difference between national drinks and international drinks? Since they don't specify. My fiance said what's the difference is we ordered the national open bar and someone walking over to the lobby bar and getting an international drink free? Good point right?
  8. YOUR DRESS IS VEERRRRY PRETTY! I'M GOING TO DRESS SHOPPING NEXT WEEKEND FOR MINE. CAN'T WAIT!!
  9. I got that email to and I'm so mad that it won't apply for the time of my wedding. I even called Liberty Travel to see if this sale would extend by chance and then I called my fiance and told him that there's a HUGE sale especially for the Suites and that if only we could move our wedding up (I was kidding and half serious lol). I hope sales like this happen for our Sept wedding!
  10. Daisy I read that the beach is an option that can be selected. It's one of the locations in the links that Ms.Green posted above in a previous posting.
  11. Oh no I don't want to hear this lol. I thought once the two month mark hits, she immediately contacts you. I know if I don't hear from her at two months right away, I will be sending her an email. Because before you know it time will fly and it'll be your wedding day. Keep me posted Ms.Smith.
  12. Wow I just so happened to come across this orange and aqua posting and now I don't know what to do. I originally wanted aqua and lime green as my colors, but now orange is looking good.
  13. Aqua, lime green and perhaps orange accents will be ours!!
  14. I like this hairstyle farlem...might have to add it to my hair inspiration too when I began searching lol.
  15. I just realized you wrote that you're getting married at the Grand on 9.10. So that means you're not the bride who's getting married at the Suites on 9.10. Nonetheless it'll be a good weekend for all of us! :-)
  16. I did check out the site and I've added it to my favorites. Luckily I do live in the states, so I'll be racking up on stuff definitely!
  17. Congrats bmadzia1! I feel good to know that there are Sept brides. Everyone seems to be getting married in summer months or prior.
  18. Toiinlove so you're the one who took our original wedding date lol. We had originally wanted 9.10., but was told it was taken, so we opted for 9.9 instead. Nice to meet you girlie! We're also arriving on the 6th to set up our temporary Jamaican residency. I'm so happy & excited! Time is going to fly from now until then. What have you done so far such as dress shopping, looking for a photographer, etc? Congrats!
  19. Just curious to know if there are any fellow September brides on this forum. If so then shout yeaaaaaaaaa! LoL
  20. If Jody answer re the $20 each set up the floating candle centerpiece is right, then it makes sense to just rent and have them set up the centerpieces. I was in Michael's today - tried to go find the orchids, no luck. I did see the vases and they are $3.99 each. But then I got the thinking, it sounds good to bring down the vases, but what happens when the wedding's over? We won't have any use for them then. So if Tai Flora can provide them, might as well use them.
  21. I know it sucks when emails are sent but not replied to especially when we're asking important questions. MsSmith let us know what you hear if anything. Do we have to stick with Tai Flora or is there another florist we can use? Because I hear TF is expensive.
  22. Bree what kind of pins did you use to glue to the back of these shells? I'm considering using shells or a starfish but just want an idea of what the pins look like.
  23. Please let me know as well if this includes what the ladies below asked. That would save us time and money and a trip of having to log the vases.
