  1. Luckily she does do a price match, so that helps, if guests see cheaper prices after they book through her. As of last night two of our bridesmaids let me know that they were sending our TA an email requesting quotes. That made me feel very happy. Although they're in our bridal party, every inquiry to our TA is great!
  2. That's the thing, at first we were going to tell them to use her only but then we already heard guests saying they were going to seek deals online. Which we can't stop someone from jumping on a deal esp if the hotel & flight are cheaper versus a quote from the TA for example. But you're right we can't take it back. Next best thing is that after our March cut off we will see who's really rsvping and coming.
  3. Quick question. I know many of you BDW and B2B have used a TA to help plan your wedding plans. We did the same and we also gave our guests the option to either use our TA or they could search and look for a package on an online website. We would really like them to use our TA because things would be maintained and she could keep track of who booked etc., but at the same time trying to get people to conform and do the same thing can be stressful. Should we not have given our guests the second option? Should we have just made everyone go through our TA? My fiance feels we can't force people to do anything and we surely can't stop people from searching the internet to find a better deal than even what our TA may be offering. I'm just wondering if we really should have just told them "we got an agent, this is her info, a deposit is due at this date..." and left it at that. Can anyone relate? How did you handle the situation?
  4. Good question Delgadot. Any past/future Suites brides if you're using/used the new resort DJ please give us feedback. Was he great, did he get the crowd on the floor etc. Simply because I too would like to hire Kevan as our DJ but if the resort DJ is great, then I may reconsider and just save the $, and use him instead. Also how much does it cost to use the resort DJ by the way, or is there no charge?
  5. That sounds good - exactly what I plan on doing. Now just have to find aqua table runners lol.
  6. That's a tough one because how would the bride and groom be able to tell which guests they can stay on property or be allowed to stay elsewhere. If I were a guest and I was given the option, I'd stay elsewhere for less and then just pay the $100. Now a days everyone's looking to save some $. So this is a tricky one.
  7. Can anyone recommend good hair products for black hair? I heard Mizani and Organic Roots products are good. I preferably need a product line that will eliminate dry scalp, add shine and volume and prevent breakage. All suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks girls! ~T
  8. I've decided to possibly use satin table runners. Anyone know a good site for this as well?
  9. I wondered the same. My bms dresses are also going to be aqua. I plan on doing aqua chair sashes, but didn't know if I should just use the white table cloth provided by the resort and use aqua napkins or if I should use get an aqua table cloth to match the chair sashes. I sort of feel the aqua table cloth would be too much. Any suggestions? Can someone provide pictures or either option?
  10. Just out of curiosity how many guests are needed in order to get a private reception at Uncle Tony's?
  11. My fiance and I actually stayed at the Holiday Sunspree during our site visit trip back in November. It's a nice hotel for a quick get away weekend. Although they do weddings too, it's not what you'd want, at least in my opinion. We too considered it and in the end decided it wouldn't be what we'd want. Funny earlier fiance and I were even considering booking at the Beach because we realize it is cheaper than the Suites, but right now we're still content with the Suites. We agreed if people don't come because of the price etc., that's A-OK with us.
  12. SIlly question but how do I create an inspiration board?
  13. For any of the past IBRH brides, did anyone of you do a customized menu for the reception? If so, what types of food were you able to add to the menu and was it a pain in the behind to get guests to choose a selection beforehand?
  14. We're doing the same. Getting married at the Suites on 9.9.11 and then we're going to honeymoon in Negril. We haven't decided on our honeymoon resort yet though.
  15. Thanks for sharing this. I wanted one of these starfish for my bouquet and to match our theme and I'm so happy I came across the thread!!
  16. I don't remember which bride it was that emailed Tai Flora about the floating candle center piece set up for $20 + tax. Just wanted to know if she ever found out more about this etc. If you're reading this, let us know. :-)
  17. I meant favors such as perhaps candles, engraved shot glasses, wine stoppers. Some brides are just doing mugs as their favors inside of their OOT bags and some brides are giving away mugs + favors to their guest.
  18. Thanks Justustwo for sharing this. Now I can look through and see what others have done. I think we're going to do both mugs and favors. I want our guests to have the best experience they can have especially since for many of them, this will be their first time attending a destination wedding.
  19. Hey DeAngelis: I live in Yonkers. We advised our guests that they can stay as long as they want. My TA had sent me a sample travel wedding calendar so that's why I had the 5 days/4nights. I do realize it is ideal for people to travel in for 4 days though and then decide if they want to come earlier or stay later. So assuming most people do arrive the day before the wedding, I guess besides the wedding rehearsal, we'd also have to have the meet and greet at the same time which can work itself out and be the rehearsal dinner. Perhaps I'll make that change on our website. Your wedding date is 12/3/11 or am I mistaken? That's actually my best friend's/maid of honor's birthday Congrats!
  20. Thanks for your feedback ladies. Good ideas between the shot glasses and also umbrella straws. We're going to monitor our budget and whatever it allows us to get, that's what we shall do. I think the idea of OOT bags is so cool. I like seeing people light up about goodies!
  21. Hey ladies quick question. For those of you who have given OOT to their guests and even those planning on doing so, what were your main favors to your guests? Did you use the mugs as favors or did you put the mugs in the OOT and gave separate favors? My fiance and I are in the midst of trying to decide if the mugs themselves will be favors, or if we should also give a smaller favor to be set up at the table seating for each guest at the reception. Please share your input! Appreciate it!
  22. Sarcrook what are you giving your guests as favors? Just wondering if the favors should go in the OOT bags or if they should be set up at the table seating for each guest before the reception.
  23. You can say that again re salt water being no joke lol. I'm going to get a weave too. The day after our wedding, will also be our TTD but being that we're also staying in Jamaica for our honeymoon, I'm not going to get my hair wet. Will just be cute from the neck downwards lol. And dry above.
