  1. heee, I was talking hairstyles today with my salon guru, and I confessed that I think I'm more excited about the veil than the dress!! : ) thanks for the follow-up, erika. I'm glad to know that it worked out with a chapel-length veil. I may try some DIY experimentation with veil weights or investigate the invisible snaps, but it's good to know it would work even without either of those. I'm also planning to wear the veil under my updo (and not above) so it can be easily removed without disturbing the hairstyle, just in case.
  2. hey ladies - what about this? veil weights!! genius!! http://www.savetheveil.com/ they're a bit pricy at $65/package - I bet you could DIY with some pearls and flat magnets and then stick them wherever on your dress or veil to prevent a lot of the wind. if anyone is willing to invest in some, we could get a share going. if six people signed up, it would drop the price to $11 each!
  3. same thing happened to me. I guess that's what you get when you pay $50 for the dvds. : ) it was the deluxe kit, but neither insane abs or max interval sports training work. boo.
  4. I checked back through some messages, and the longer story is subbi and Mallory both contacted me before her wedding (subbi was worried about not having received the starfish but then did get it in time). I haven't heard from her since then but sent a PM. also, she posted on a thread today and 9/30, so she should be around. hope you get in touch with her. -kelly
  5. no kathie, I haven't heard anything in awhile. she should've been back on sept 21. maybe try getting in touch with the girl before her, Mallory57 to see if she made contact? kellygrrrl's CLEAR starfish lineup User Name Travel Dates Resort Resort Location Home Location Mallory57 August 11 - 21, 2011 Moon Dance Cliffs Negril, Jamaica Philadelphia, PA subbi September 13 - 21, 2011 Dreams Punta Cana Punta Cana, Dominican Republic Montreal, Canada Kathie October 14 - 28, 2011 Aruba Boston, MA Jmikla November 27 - December 11, 2011 Dreams Puerto Vallarta Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Calgary, Alberta JayKay January 9 - 16, 2012 Gran Bahia Principe Montego Bay, Jamaica Alberta, Canada Brenners February 8 - 15, 2012 Barcelo Maya Beach Resort Riviera Maya, Mexico Minneapolis, MN jbmarch2012 April 9 - 16, 2012 Larimar Punta Cana, Dominican Republic Philadelphia, PA RETIRING - kellygrrrl May 1 - 15, 2012 The Royal Playa del Carmen Playa del Carmen, Mexico Austin, TX
  6. there's a bubba keg thread where we've all been discussing this. a walmart near me had: 18oz - $3 34oz - $4 52oz - $5 there were literally HUNDREDS in their summer clearance section - so many that each size had its own endcap. I went back yesterday, maybe 4 - 6 weeks later, and the last few tumblers were in a shopping cart near the front of the store and had been marked down to $2 each. they were probably gone within hours. I cannot believe they sold so many AFTER summer, especially when they were tucked far away in the store. based on what I've seen, you may luck into a few summer bubbas tucked into the automotive or housewares section, but I think they're going to be pretty tough to come by for awhile.
  7. those are really cute! i'd just put a sticker on the other side or above/below the name, depending on which side will face the center of the table. something subtle and classy like a monogram or starfish in white or gold. just enough that the waiters can see to distinguish the entree.
  8. I think people have done either placecards in two colors or added a sticker to select placecards to indicate who had which entree.
  9. ooohhh - make the belt into a headband! hee, ok no more BDW DIY forums for me. : )
  10. thanks, lindsay - I know some guests won't get it at all, but I have some die-hard Scorpios who will go nuts. ; )
  11. sooooo CUTE! a friend of my friend's wore the same one (or very similar) - I hope she won't mind me sharing her photos, but she looked GORGEOUS, as do you! : ) do cute girls pick the dress or does the dress pick cute girls? I can't decide, but y'all look great. : )
  12. idk, both with and without the belt work. maybe you could wear the belt for the reception or your photos after the ceremony?
  13. we picked up my FI's band on saturday, and he seriously hasn't taken it off!! I'd post a picture, but he's out wearing it now. hee. no cold feet here!! ; )
  14. hey ladies - qq about music for any past brides. do you think the Royal wireless is strong enough to stream music from Rhapsody? I thought it might be the easiest way to listen to tunes poolside and/or during the beach reception. has anyone attempted this? my inclination is that the connection would frequently break up, but I wanted to check with you all first. also, if anyone is a repeat visitor, is it really as quiet now as they say around the main pool? or is the activity just more contained to the area near the swing bar? I'd be sad if they got rid of all the crazy games, etc. thanks!
  15. hey ladies - I was at a multi-million dollar lakehouse over the weekend, and they had these AMAZING, sturdy coasters with photos of local places. they can even make custom coasters from your own photos. the website is here: http://www.fleurdestone.com/index1.html my MOH and I met in college here at UT, and certain places will always hold such great memories for us - especially now that she's living in Dallas. I thought it would be great to get her some Austin coasters for her place. she is definitely the type who has everything, so this will be perfect!!
  16. check out this one, too: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/28059/oot-bag-contents-master-list-of-possible-items
  17. woo, 9pm?? how do you work out so late and still sleep??
  18. eheee, brendee - I have to laugh. we have the same date!! and I, too, have been agonizing over this waiting game. I wanted to get invites out in Aug because our resort rates are going up in October. we even provided everyone with a site (booking.com) to encourage them to make a reservation now - even if they decide they can't make it later and need to cancel (there are no fees/penalties). and <sigh> not even my own brother has booked. I asked my mom to get in touch with some family friends who we invited and haven't spoken with in awhile, and their feedback was that it's simply too soon to decide. after we heard different itierations of that several times, I realized that people would prefer to book closer to the date, so I changed my RSVP deadline from November 30 to March 1. that way, we still have a week to get the WC the information she needs, and people have the maximum amount of time to decide whether or not they'd like to attend (regardless of the hotel rate at that time - ha!) I recently read somewhere that your wedding is only important to you, and while that isn't entirely true, I definitely think people have NO IDEA of the amount of time and energy we spend trying to make things just so for all of us. I think you and I will have to cheer each other on in the upcoming months, but it seems our best bet is definitely not to stress. that was the one regret of brides on here - sweating the guest list when they should have taken it more with a grain of salt. best of luck to you, my cinco de mayo date twin!! : )
  19. I'm with you! part of the agreement we made in purchasing the ring was that I wouldn't have a wedding band. I wouldn't mind getting one someday, but I'm pretty sure I'd have to wear it on my right hand (it's too much to put it right next to the ring). I like that idea!! : )
  20. oh yes. there's a wal-mart near my work that has TONS for $3 (18oz tumbler), $4 (34?oz) and $5 (52 oz). check out the Bubba Keg thread for details. if you need some, just let me know! : )
  21. even the warmup was hard on that set!! ; ) hang in there, sxcT!
  22. oh yes, everything is final sale (mine wasn't on a super-special clearance or anything). david's will sell you what's on the rack, but it likely has been tried on previously, so I asked that they order one. that's why it was so strange when the first one I ordered came in with makeup on it. they kept swearing it was the woman who pressed it, but it didn't look like her colors. ; ) the dress was tighter than the try-on sample, so I know it hadn't been tried on much before. it was an odd situation, but they definitely made it right. I would have had issues if I was short on time, but I got it a year in advance. hee. : ) I don't know if I'd trust them with alterations, but I was happy to get the dress (and veil and shoes) and go. ; )
  23. kristen - your dress is really lovely, and I'm not just saying that. I think it looks great on you, and your nerves are just part of the overall thing. if you can, try not to worry too much until it comes in. I think once you put it on again, you'll be completely reassured. personally, I've had doubts about nearly everything (not the FI, but everything else ; ) - the other day I was reading snarky traveler reviews on tripadvisor re my resort and thinking, "what have I done?!" again, I think it's just part of the process to look and question and then do it all over again. but I really think you will remember why you chose the dress as soon as you try it on again. also, I think you look great just as you are. the dress really highlights your beautiful figure. I think everything will work out a-ok for you! : )
