  1. i felt the same way. thats why i went to a couple. I found my resort in a book one of the TAs gave me. I liked the Dreams resorts in general so the hard part was narrowing down exactly which one. I chose that based on price. I agree that TAs can be way too pushy
  2. Hey est2005, I'm getting married at the diff Dreams. The Dream Puerto Aventuras on June 11th so I didn't steal your date I feel your pain with the lag time an making decisions about things when you can't see what it really looks like! But have been reassured by all the other brides on these posts that it will all come together in the end. About picking a package, how many guest do you have coming? I would compare each package and pick the one that fits the needs of you and your guest. We picked the middle package b/c we like the food on that one the best
  3. Hey Krmiller, I think I'm like you. I need to get on it. I am such a procrastinator!!!
  4. Hey Natalie, I agree with everyone else you have to just STOP researching and pick a place that meets your top needs. I was like you. I couldnt pick a place b/c everywhere looked amazing. I read looked online, read reviews and contacted resorts. I did this for 2 months and all it did was made me more confused. One day a made a list of the things I wanted most that fit into my budget. I wanted something our family and friends could afford, that was all inclusive, family friendly, and had a wedding package. I went to 3 travel agents in 1 day. I told them what I wanted and they all gave me a list of places that they personally dealt with that would fit into my plan. That's how I came across the Dreams Puerto Aventuras, which is where I am getting married!!! I think being on this site will help you a lot. I wish I would have found it before I wasted so much time being confused
  5. You know after reading your response I think I have to at least voice my concerns to her in a polite manor. The problem is I'm afraid I mite not be so nice b/c I REALLY can not stand this girl. She told me yesterday that she is up for some award. top 30 travel agents under 30. I laughed and said "Really?!" My FH squeezed my arm This is just an awkward situation. Thank you ladies for the advise
  6. I know how you feel about having a terrible TA. I want to drop her but I feel like we are too far in now. All of our guest used her and have made down payments. The usual me would just confront her but its hard since she's my FH friend's sister. They all grew up together. It would make me feel better if I could go off on her!!!!!

I'm stumped.  I wouldn't worry about music if I were you since you aren't having a reception. If anything bring your iPod just in case. A friend of mine has been to this resort and she says they have cool clubs. So instead if having a reception I think it wud bd cool to grab dinner and go out to the bars and party after!!!!oop
  8. Hello Ladies, Can I take a minute to release some steam?! EMILY! Need I say more?! She is my TA and she sucks!! I know what you are thinking, Get a new one. Well it's complicated. Emily is my future husband's friend’s sister. If that makes since. She was recommended by our friend. He said she was amazing and since my FH kind of knew her I thought this would be nice. I should have known better! The signs were there from day 1 that she was a complete TWIT and that is putting it politely. Emily is un-organized, she lies, she is very weasel like, she is never available when you need her, she treats my guest very unprofessionally, Emily is a terrible TA! Can I say Emily has made planning a destination wedding a nightmare, and what sucks the most is I don’t feel comfortable saying anything to her about it since her brother is coming to the wedding and I do like him. I want to go off on her every time I talk to her. My FH has to give me pep talks before talking to her in order to maintain control. This is ridiculous!!! I think when the wedding is all said and done I’m going to give her a piece of my mind! Emily Sucks!!!! Ahhhhhh, that felt good. Thank you ladies for letting me vent!
  9. Hey ladies, So Its official we just paid for our rooms! No take backs now. So far we have 26 people confirmed. More than I expected! We will be there June 8 - June 18th, Will anyone else be there around this time? Our wedding is on June 11th.
  10. Hello Ladies, I'm getting married June 11, 2011 at Dreams Puerto Aventuras in Riviera Maya. It seems like time just flew by and I feel so overwhelmed at times!! I'm glad I found this forum!
  11. Hello Ladies, My name is Asia and I am proud to represent the Midwest. I'm from Springfield, IL. I am getting married June 11, 2011 at the Dreams Puerto Aventuras in Riviera Maya. I'm very excited to have found this forum!
  12. I'm in the same boat as you. I'm not sure what I want in terms of music or even if I need it. Are you having a reception? If so where at? I think we were thinking the beach. I was thinking about bringing my i-pod and seeing if we could just use that somehow?!
  13. Quote:Originally Posted by Tifuhhknee I bought my dress waaaay to long ago, haha, October 2009. Luckily, I do still fit in it!! LOL.  If you don't go short, you should absolutely do a breathable lightweight material. I have been to this area of Mexico in June and it was HOT. I live in Louisiana very near the Gulf of Mexico, so I'm pretty used to heat. The humidity is the part that will get to you mixed with the heat. It will still be pretty toasty around 5... so I would shop with that in mind.  Thank you for the advice!!! I found a dress an it is beautiful it's a Mia solano dress. It is long but very light weight! Our wedding is at 5 so I hope it's not too hot. It is always humid where we live so I am used to that. I wish I could wear this dress everyday
  14. Hey Ladies, Do you have your wedding dresses yet? I'm going dress shopping this weekend and I'm thinking about getting a short wedding dress since everyone tells me June is hot. What are your thoughts?! I mean our wedding is at 5pm so I wouldn't think it would be that hot?!
  15. thank you ladies!!! If the resort can steam the dress then I'm not too worried anymore plus we are not flying w/ airtran . Both of your weddings seemed amazing. I hope mine turns out the same!!!
  16. Thank you Mexico102 for the review! It all sounds so amazing. I can't wait till it's my turn! I have one question. How did you transport your wedding dress? Did you carry it on the plane?
  17. So...is anyone booking their trip through a TA? We are using a TA for us and I our guest and I feel like she might be over charging us but I don't really know if she is or isn't. I just have a really uneasy feeling about it. Also does anyone have a Destination Wedding Planning Checklist they would be willing to share? I could really use a little guidance
