  1. My June Brides!! What is the deal with this crazy storm I hear that may develop?! As if I need anymore stress!!! Most of our guests arrive on Wednesday - I hope that's before a storm arrives or develops. ARGH!!! Trying hard to not freak out.
  2. Hi JoZee84! That's crazy about Marvin. Everytime I've emailed him, he's always responded back quickly. So weird. There's no deposit for his stuff. Once you agree to the final invoice, he sends you an email that you can either pay using paypal or cash. I went ahead and just paid him through paypal. I feel pretty confident paying him since so many brides on here use him. Plus I just don't want to travel with alot of cash on me. I'm already bringing some cash for Fernando. i went ahead and paid for my services in full and for makeup for my mom, m-i-l and two bridesmaids. All I need to do is pay for their hair and that's it. Whew! Heidi82 - Thank you ma'am!! I'm an starting to get super excited!! We're in the middle of preparing audit schedules (yay financial accounting!!) so that has been keeping me pretty grounded and focused. However there are some nagging details that I need to finish, like reception timeline, escort cards and dj music. Ugh!!! How did the bootcamp go? I think you said you joined something like that? Maybe I'm going crazy. LOL...
  3. Aricak64 - You look beautiful!! I love the red in your dress. Did the resort do your bouquet? Super excited!! I can't wait for my turn!
  4. Jozee!! Can't wait to see you guys down there!! I need to start taking pics for my planning thread. LOL...
  5. Hi Girls! So we are doing our rehearsal dinner at Asiana's. I've heard great things about it so hopefully everyone will be happy. We decided to do our Welcome Dinner at Gran Porto so parents with kids can have them attend too. Has anyone eaten at Albatros? For the amount of people we have, it seems to have the biggest space. Gracias!!
  6. Hi Orange_Peel! Thanks for the great advice and welcome back!! I bet it's hard to come back to reality. I did hear back from my wedding coordinator and according to her children are not allowed at any royal restaurants even if it's a rehearsal dinner. She did say bc wedding is a private event that's when they are allowed. OK. So we decided to keep our rehearsal dinner at Asiana's and move our welcome dinner to Gran Porto. I'm not trying to give myself a major cost and headache by moving it off campus and dealing with upset parents. They were fine with the rehearsal dinner and leaving the munchins to sitter or working something out amongst the adults. So that works for me.
  7. My Royal ladies!!! I need some assistance! Originally no children were allowed bc we wanted an adults only celebration but now we are allowing them (3 kids in total) due to the parents hesitation in hiring onsite sitters. Has anyone had their wedding at the Royal side with kids? How much was your expense? I asked my wedding planner and she wrote it would cost us $15 usd each = $330 usd each dinner. That sounds super expensive. I'm waiting on a response from her to clarify bc that's just crazy. I have a feeling a response from you guys is way quicker than waiting on her. Also - has anyone been allowed to have a rehearsal dinner at the Adults side only with children since it's part of a wedding event? My only other plan of action is to have it off-site somewhere or at the family side - which I really do not want. Any advice is super helpful!!!
  8. Hi Lisa!! I can't wait!! Unfortunately I'm in the midst of half year audit - so that's been keeping me grounded. But it definitely gets harder to stay focused as each day passes!! All these great reviews about recent weddings makes me super happy. YAY!!
  9. Heidi - That would be awesome!! LOL... Thanks for clearing that up. I swear to you in the email my WC sent me, she said his name is Denys. Which I thought it was weird it was a guy - but hey who am I to judge? If you like weddings, you like weddings. =) Glad to hear that! I was getting a little bummed if that was the case.
  10. JoZee - I had to contact my WC and ask her who my person is. Apparently I have a guy - his name is Denys. Has anyone worked with him? A question to all brides that got married there recently - did any of you plan a sunset cruise or any type of water activity? We were mentioning to some of our friends about hosting a sunset cruise and a few of them were visibly disturbed. They were telling us about pirates taking over ferries and private cruises in the area. Has anyone heard or had any issues with this? I'd really like to do this but may need to change to something else if people are that worried. Any suggestions or ideas on a group outting in the late afternoon?
  11. ChicagoBride - Thanks so much for the insight! I love how you did your reception table! Very chic!! Love your dress too!! It looked amazing.
  12. Ladies!! I need some help. I was looking at the wedding menu package on the Royal website - are those our only options? I'm not too excited by everything I see. Were any of you able to do taste-testings when you got there before your wedding? I'd hate to pick something blindly and not know if it's good or not. Also - has anyone had a group dinner at Gran Porto? I have a few guests staying at Gran Porto and I thought it would be nice if we had The Welcome dinner & Cocktails there. Easier than dealing with passes and finding kid friendly places. Any nice restaurants there that allow children? Muchas Gracias! (i'm practicing my spanish )
  13. Hello Ladies!! It feels like forever since I've had a chance to log-in!! Work just gets in the way of fun!! JoZee - so glad to hear your dress finally arrived!! You must have amazing patience! I would have had a melt-down by now. RosiePosie- so sorry to hear that you got stuck with the AHR bill. Just breathe and know what you want will be here soon!! Speedy - i can't believe it's already your time! WOW!!! Have an amazing time -can't wait to hear all about it. Aricak64 - congrats on your wedding! Thank you for such a detailed review. Everytime I read a great review - it keeps me sane and happy with having my wedding at The Royal. Welcome New Brides!! The is an amazing forum!! Definitely helped me with awesome ideas. We have some amazingly gifted DIYers and creative brides on here. Love the Classy Sombrero themed Engagement pics and those fun OOT bags!
  14. WELCOME!!! You have come to the right spot! All the brides on here are super amazing. Here is our rite of passage on the site - find an evening where you have some quiet time to do a bit of reading - start around the 800 pages and enjoy a nice glass of wine. You will find tons of info that will help get you started and caught up! If you have your wedding date - please add it in your signature line. Congrats and welcome!!
  15. YAY!! Fantastic!! Do you have Paula's info at the Blue Parrot? I want to setup a welcome activity there as well. So glad to hear your guests had fun. Did they enjoy the fire dancing?
  16. Nadennec - If you go to my profile and see my albums - I have the pics Marvin put together for me. Exactly what I wanted. I 110% agree with Kellygrrrl - Marvin can replicate just about anything you want. Either ideas you've seen or flowers you love. Mine are lavender roses and green cymbidium orchids.
  17. GC2008 - some of the ones I've seen have said - shake at the kiss or for the reception - shake for a kiss. Hope this helps!
  18. Chicago Bride- That is so strange! I've never had issues communicating with Marvin - he sent me a contract immediately. My only guess is that he is getting super busy with weddings now. Hopefully he'll respond to you soon!
  19. SweetLe - I've made payments by faxing them my info - and I've never had any issues with it. I was definitely skeptical at first but I've been monitoring the account and so far I haven't seen anything I don't recognize and it's been over 6months now. I definitely agree that you can always call them and do the payment over the phone.
  20. Diahr - I can't wait to see your planning thread!! I know it'll be a beautiful wedding. That's what I need to do as well - programs. I do like the fan idea. I'll have to check it out. Not bad for a DIY kit. AW!!! How sweet!! I love that you're doing your own vows. We're having a good friend officiate for us since we did the legal part inHouston already. We wanted our anniversary as legal date but a wedding during the summer. We told him to personalize it but to keep it light and fun. I'm somewhat nervous what he'll say but it'll just make it more memorable. =) What are you taking down with you?
  21. OMG Speedy!!! You look absolutely amazing!!! I love the look of black and white - so timeless and sexy!! Way to rock it!!! Your FI will be super surprised!! Heidi- Thanks!! I definitely recommend having someone or your photographer down there take some pics of you around the resort. It has beautiful details and archways. Congrats Rosie!! When you send out the invites - it definitely makes it more real. Now I just feel excited and stressed!!! LOL... I agree the list is growing but I'm taking a step back to really think about if I need it. Melsramey - I would fit 8 around the people so that people are comfortable and can spreadout. Congrats to our April 1st bride!!! Have a marvelous time!!!
  22. Hi PlayaWedding! Unfortunately the resort does not provide any type of centerpieces. I don't even think they do tealights but I could be wrong. Of course they'll be more than glad to arrange it for you at a high cost to you. They do provide white linens and white chair covers - which is why most of the girls on here bring their own colored linens and sashes. Most of us are using Marvin from Maya Diseno Floral. He's very affordable. Turns out you can rent some items from him as well - which is one less item to lug in your suitcase. Hopes this help!
  23. Rosie! OMG!! I love your DIY projects. They look simply amazing. I love the little asian characters. Very cute!! You are quite the crafty girl!! If I had more time - I would love to spend it working on fun projects like that. Your silk flowers are gorgeous. And it turns into a fun keepsake as well. So sorry to hear about your FI's cousin. That is just rude and terrible. We're going through a similar issue with his sister. She didn't even bother to tell us first or ahead of time - so now I own a dress that cost me $200. We totally could have helped her with expenses if that was the real reason. And get this - she canceled with our travel planner first and told her to not tell me! Imagine my surprise when I talked to my travel agent. Good times. In your situation - I agree you're better off without that person. He sounds like a grump! How nice he thinks he's kidnapping worthy. LOL... All you can do is take a deep breath! oh! Are you doing a DJ or ipod? We thought we would have closer to 30 but it looks like it's just barely over 20.
  24. Thanks Bride2B22!! I'm still getting adjusted to how I look in it in photos! I swear when I put it on at the shop during my fittings I didn't look that curvy. LOL... No wonder people can get obsessed with how they look in photos! Isn't it crazy how soon it'll be time to walk down the aisle? It just seems like we signed up on this site yesterday. Where are you having your ceremony? I saw they have a glass enclosure at the Cancun site and it looks amazing!! That is so cool that you met Jesmcan!! How is she doing? She was super helpful with all these great tips. Nothing wrong with keeping a little extra in your pocket. Honeymoon upgrade maybe?
