That is really interesting. I've never heard of that before. I can't imagine why you can't send ahead of time. That is so silly. This resort is definitely getting very popular. I know it'll be beautiful on the day of - but now i wished I had picked a quieter resort. LOL... Keep us posted in case they change their minds. =)

I wish I could schedule around it. My ceremony starts at 6pm. Then cocktails - we should be inside for reception by 7:30ish pm. When I checked the site for available times, they only had really early times left. I may have to move my ceremony time up an hour if that's even possible. I believe the ballrooms have retractable walls between them and also actual walls. The "quiet" side of my 2 ballrooms has a wall so that's where we'll setup the tables for dinner. I think we're picking their house DJ. I would love to use our ipod but that may be a little too informal. I know my mom would not like it - and I would rather not hear it for the rest of my life! LOL.. My TA is going in November for a site visit and will check out the ballrooms. Who knew the week of June 12th-18th is a really popular week to get married? I can't change my date bc we've already sent out our save the dates. I wonder if I can ask them to start at 9pm when our music starts so we don't hear each other. I can only wish!!

Hi Kelly!!! Welcome!! A FAQ is a great idea - especially since the Royal likes to change their policies or it's dependent on your WC. Nice to see another Texas bride out there!! I love Austin! I went to school at Southwestern University in Georgetown. Not sure if you've heard of it. You're visits there will be invaluable since you already know the lay out of the place. Congrats!!

Lisa, When I talked to my WC about having rehearsal dinner possibly at resort - she said as long as it's a private event - then guests from Gran and outside are allowed in. They just have to be notified about it. Just make sure you tell them you want a private event and you are having otuside Royal guests coming. Janna

I agree!! I'm bringing a hand steamer myself. Macy's is having a super great deal on theirs at the moment. My sister had her dress pressed and let me tell you - they almost ruined her dress. Thank god they fixed it and was ready on day of the wedding. I've never seen her so close to a mental breakdown as when she saw her dress. Save yourself a peace of mind and do it yourself. Wrap a towel around the head so it doesn't spit out water on your dress.

I'm definitely getting one made - however I need to tone a few things up before I meet the dressmaker. =) I probably will have the traditional look but keep a little lose fitting. No need to split any seams!! We have several asian shops in Houston so hopefully we'll find a good. My aunt from Taiwan may be able to help me get some really good material. I wish I could wear the ones my Mom made for her wedding. Unfortunately my american genes gave me a slightly bigger frame. LOL... My mom is like a 0-2 and I'm between 4-6.

Jenny -  Here is Fernando's contact info: Fernando Fuentes: [email protected]. Just know that it takes Fernando a while to respond but when he does respond - he's pretty quick in replies. lol... Let him know I referred you. Janna Harris. You may get a quicker response.  Janna Â

I just went online! This is even better than alux. Thank you!! Going to email them for a quote. =) Â Thanks for the suggestions!! I am doing the tea ceremony during rehearsal dinner. I agree - I don't want to hear anything not appropriate. lol... Â JoZee - are you getting a traditional dress made or buying one already made? Â

i know!! yay!! that is super awesome to know. my wc went on vacation for a week!!! so now I have to think about all my questions and write one massive email. LOL i finally heard from fernando!! yay!!! he was like, did you get my email? LOL...anyone that did a makeup makeover at MAC counter did you like their foundation? I went this weekend with my sister in Indiana (surprise visit for my sis) and the foundation the makeup person used was horrible!! it was so dry and super blotchy looking. I think I'd rather have Fernando use my foundation and primers. I also had to buy $50 in MAC makeup, but at least it's my makeup and no transfer of germs. Â

thanks for that info!! I'm looking for a great rehearsal place. Do you know if there are any restaurants at the Resort that does a great job as well? So far I'm estimating around 40 peeps. Â Any brides doing any cultural stuff from their heritage? I'm half taiwanese and want to incorporate the traditional tea ceremony. I can't decide if I should do it during rehearsal dinner or have it on wedding day. With the concert going on next door, it's going to really make me upset if I hear their music during this quiet moment. Â Any suggestions? I'm leaning towards rehearsal dinner day. Â

Hello ladies!! Congrats to those that just got married or are nearing their big day!! YAY!! So yeah, Alux is not cheap and it's a la carte. Thanks for the heads up on food quality. I do like how it was in a cave - so definitely an idea for a pre-party start off point. Â JoZee - I gave the wrong date but the right day for the concert. It's Thursday, June 16th 2011 not the 15th. It's some type of country music. I can't believe I'm sharing part of the ballroom space with a country music concert!! Â They don't even know what time it will start. As of now it'll be around 8pm- it keeps changing. I wonder if I can suggest to them to hold off until later since there's a wedding going on!!! Â Sorry for the venting but it's just downright annoying. Â Does anyone know if we can have the mexican trio perform during cocktail hour and have the solo person play during dinner at the reception? Trying to use everything in the Luxury package but hoping to be able to rearrange some things around. Â Jesmcan - can't wait to see your planning blog!! So glad to hear that everything is working out for you. I just know it'll be beautiful.

JoZee - WOW!! That sounds really beautiful. Let me know how they turn out. I'll try and post some pics of what he put together for me. I think you're getting married the week of June 12-18 2011? My WC just told me there was a concert on the 15th - Thursday night. So if your guests are being wishy washy about booking early you might want to let them know. I believe there's a couple of more weddings besides ours as well. Unfortunately I'll be sharing part of the ballrooms with this concert. I'm hoping she'll let me know what kind of concert and when it starts. Â

Well darn!! At least you got to save on some items. I think we're expecting around 35-40 so we just chose the Luxury Package. The great thing is that you can down size your package. So if it turns out you have a smaller guest list - they'll let you switch. Â Thank goodness I have only 2 vendors - my flower guy - unless I decide we get the flowers and setup the centerpieces ourselves and our makeup person - whoever that will be. LOL.... Â

YAY!! Welcome!! Congrats on your wedding at the Royal!! You'll find tons of advice and support on the other thread - royal playa del carmen were kids allowed. =)

Wedding Etiquette - IS THIS A JOKE?!

WOW!!! That is definitely some nerve. If they had the gall to ask last minute bc his friends couldn't make it - then I don't see why you can't ask them to reimburse you for the pants. Â Definitely keep us posted of your situation!! -
You are so lucky!!! Congrats on that!! My WC is a plays it by the book type person. I wish they all did the same instead of all of us getting different answers. I'm definitely jealous!! I can't stand that $350 vendor fee. arrrggghhh.... Â On a side note - Marvin (mayadisenoflorals) finally responded to me and sent me pics of what I wanted. He is a genius!! Exactly what I wanted and the best price ever. Â Now if only Fernando can respond - that would be great!! Â Is anyone having Marvin do centerpieces for them? I was just thinking 3 hurricane vases with votive candles surrounding them. Marvin quoted $80. Â
