Half of my guests are leaving from Newark the other half will be leaving from JFK. The flights just came out for my wedding wedding weekend so I'm telling all the guests to start booking so they get a great rate for a direct flight. We are telling most of our guests to come for 4 days/3 nights and if they want or can stay longer we encourage it. To some guests who don't really have the money to come, it might seem like alot when you are asking them to come for 5 days. I believe the min of nights you can stay at the Iberostar is 3 nights. I'm having my wedding on a Saturday so people only have to take off Thursday and Friday from work. In the end, the people who want to be there will do whatever it takes to make it happen. Just ingnore anyone that's being negative of giving you a headache...the only thing that matters is the man of your dreams waiting for you at the alter. Where do you live in NY? I grew on Long Island and my FI in Brooklyn.

Hi Island Girl, We announced at our engagement party in August 2010 that we were doing a destination wedding to give all of guests and bridal party more than enough time to book. Both my fiance and I are in sales so we've been informing (selling) our guests about the hotel and airline rates, I could prob do this for a living and it's only been a couple of months lol. I'm extremly suprised that I have guests and flights booked before my STD even went out. Some of our guests said that they will be using their tax return to purchase their flight. You need to get your guests excited about their vacation and how much fun they're going to have with all your closet family and friends.

Hi Kimberli, Did you choose a photographer yet? I booked Brian Nejely and he will edit your pictures and remove people and objects from the background of your pictures if needed. It's something to keep in mind if you have your heart set on a beach ceremony. When I met with the WC at the Grand in November I made it very clear to hear that I don't want anyone on the sidelines during my wedding. It's the staff's and WC responsibility to clear out the area before your wedding begins. It's best to have your ceremony around 4-5pm because of the lighting from the sun and most people will be heading back to their rooms from the pool to get ready for dinner.

I've been working on my STD for the past 2 months and I'm so excited with how they came out!! Thank you to all the past DWB that posted their boarding passes for inspiration. The theme for my wedding is tropical elegance with fuchsia, orange, and lime green colors. I designed the STD, a close friend of my FI did the layout, and my brother is a printer so he took care of the printing. In the end, with all the help from my family and friends and the great deals I found online for my supplies my STD ended up costing me $1.25 a piece and they look like I spent $5 a pc. I asked Steve to offer us an incentive package based on a group booking of 25 rooms, this was negotiated before we signed the contract and put down security deposits for the rooms. Did you offically book with him yet? If you did I don't think there is much he can do for you at this point. My friend booked her wedding to Cancun with him and was kicking herself when she found out all of the free tings he was offering us.

Hi Grace, Yes, Beach Bum does DW. I'm working with Steve Curnow and he gave me great group rates plus incentives for me and my FI based of teired # of rooms we book. We are hoping to get our cocktail hour, welcome party, and our whole stay in an ocean front room for FREE at the Grand!! Our STD are going out in the next few weeks so we'll see how many rooms we can get booked I believe the only other location to get married at the Grand is pool side or on the stair case coming down from the lobby. I would say the Suites terrace would be the best option for you if you want to have the beach in the back ground. One of the main reasons I want to have a DW is so I can get married bare foot in the sand.
