  1. Yayyyy Diamond Girl!!! I'm so proud of you!!!!!
  2. I would go back to day 1 and start all over again. You want to cleanse your body to make sure all the sugars and carbs are out of you for the 1st 2 weeks. There are so many great things you can still have on the diet...it you need a sweet you can have a sugar free fudge bar, sugar free pudding with cool whip, let me know what your craving and I'll give you a recipe. I'll all about being creative and not getting bored with what you're eating. I hosted a baby shower at my house during phase one I put a lot of snacks out that I could have on the diet like zucchini cheesecake, veggies and dressing, guac and celery, and I made south beach friendly meatballs for myself. All the things I avoided eating: cupcakes, chips, my mom-in law-to be’s spinach pie and meatballs (which is one of her specialties), pizza, baked brie...these are all foods I LOVE! I just made sure that I always had something around that I could munch on. The funniest thing, before the party I say to my FI (who is also doing SB with me) I'm nervous that I might pick up something and eat it without even thinking about it and after realize what the hell did I just do. He thought I was absolutely insane...15 minutes later he picks up a chip and puts it in his mouth and spits it out. It's so crazy how our minds can so easily forget. I'm here for you! You can do it!!
  3. Wow! These came out incredible! I think I'm all DIY'd out after making my STD boarding passes.
  4. Thanks for the heads up Marlena! I need to talk to my WC to see if 4pm on the dot is possible. I will try to get all the pics with my bridesmaids and family out of the way before the ceremony so I can focus on the entire bridal party and of course me and my groom post ceremony. I didn't think about the the sun setting early when I set my date.
  5. 14 lb down in 2.5 weeks!! I'm telling you ladies, do South Beach! I feel great and I don't feel deprived (coming from an Italian Carb Lover). I'm on phase 2 and I've entered fruits and healthy carbs back into my diet. I get to have one fruit a day and one of the following items (whole wheat wrap/bread/rice/sweet potato). It's not a "crash diet" it's a life style change. Let me know if you have any questions! Stay postive ladies...all it takes is hard work and dedication!!!
  6. Great pictures Maura!! I'm so excited I want the next 10 months to just fly by!! Do you think I should have my ceremony at 4:00pm on 12-3 at the Grand? I want enough time to take pictures on the beach before it gets too dark. What do you suggest?
  7. Hi Chan Porty, I know there is a bar inside Aunt Ruby's but I'm sure you have to pay the additional $10 pp in order to use that for your private reception. The next closest bar would be the piano bar in the lobby. I wasn't there on a Monday, Thursday-Sunday. A bride that had their wedding at the suites might be able to help you out more.
  8. Take cab to airport and jump on a couples swept away bus if they offer one?? Let me know if this is possible I might do the same in December.
  9. Iberostar Grand in Montego Bay. 5 Star all inclusive resort with butler service with every room level. I stayed here in November and I"m getting married there 12-3-11. If you would like I can send you some pictures of the Grand from when I did my site visit. I'm also looking to move to another resort for my honeymoon...I'm actually looking into Couples Swept Away ; )
  10. Trying to get items reduced by the WC is impossible prior to them knowing the final head count for guests booked at the Iberostar. I was there in person in November and they wouldn't budge for ANYTHING. Best way to get what you what is negotiating it in your group rate with your TA. Let me know if you have any questions.
  11. Hi Kim, My FI and I are inviting everyone to the destination wedding that we would be inviting if we had a wedding back home. We are also surprised by the amount of people that are interested in coming in to the wedding; it's looking like 50-75 people joining us in Jamaica!!! We booked a group rate (holding 25 rooms) through Beach Bum Vacations and they offered us great rates, plus amazing incentives for the Bride and Groom: for 25 rooms booked we are getting a free cocktail hour with hand passed food, welcome party, and 7 nights Ocean View at the Grand! I would defiantly look into group rates at the Suites with Beach Bum. Come up with a list of things that you would like Iberostar to offer you for free or reduced cost since you will be bringing 50-60 people to stay at their resort for your wedding. We made a tired list of incentives based on the amount of rooms that are booked i.e. 10 rooms booked free cocktail hour and 3 nights free, the incentives increase with every additional 5 rooms we book. Keep in mind that you can talk to other TAs about offering you such incentives for a group rate for your wedding. Before we went with Beach Bum we had 2 other agents trying to get us the same things but they weren't successful. Let me know if you would like Beach Bums contact info. p.s. From your last message: my wedding colors are fuchsia, lime green, and orange with 6 bridesmaids, 6 groomsmen, with a flower girl & ring bearer (them and their parents will be staying at the Suites, kids are allowed to come over to the Grand if you are hosting a private event i.e. welcome party, rehearsal dinner, and wedding ceremony and reception)
  12. I did WW in 2010 and lost 20 lb and gained 10lb back during the holidays. You should do the online WW it's great so many recipes and helps you keep track of your goals. Good luck let me know if you have any questions.
  13. I'm getting married on the 3rd at the Grand and will be there on your wedding day. Congrats on setting the date!! What is your color theme maybe we can share decorations.
  14. I will be at the Iberostar Grand Montego Bay 11/29-12/6, getting married on 12/3/11!!!
  15. Hi Ladies, I made an appointment at Macy's Bridal salon just to "look" with my mom and it ended up being a truck show, all the new dresses for 2011 were in and for 15% off. Lucky for me, the VP of the company was there and giving me extra special attention. He ended up giving me an extra 5% off (20% off my dress) and gave me all my alterations for half off! I am officially the "Bargain Bride"!! I'm going to be making some changes to the dress. The neckline will be more sweetheart and the ruffles in the back will sweep into the front of the dress. I'm also going to be added some embellishments to the dress that the seamstress said she will tack on for FREE. I live close to NYC so I'm going to make a day in the garment district and use my company account to buy the trims at wholesale.
  16. This thread was the inspiration for my wedding. I booked the Grand for 12-3-11 and I'm doing Pink, Orange, and lime green colors. Love everything from the begining to the end...thanks Leslie!!
  17. Breeze to the rescue!! Thanks so much for the weather and sunset links!!! ashaun - If you can do it, try to change it. Honestly, the food and atmosphere different enough at the Grand that it wont feel repetitive. There were other things I didn't like about Secrets too - like the mosquitos!! They were bad there. There are NONE at the iberostar. It can be hung loosely - it is mostly wrapped because it is usually to windy to hang loosely. Future Brides - I've posted this link a couple times but here it goes again - Mo Bay sunrise/set info is here: http://uk.weather.com/climate/sunRiseSunSet-Montego-Bay-JMXX0003?month=8 Wind, Rain Etc charts are here: http://jamaica-guide.info/weather/temperature/
  18. Yayyy! So exciting! You're going to feel so great when you start. I'm on day 9 and feel FAB! Let me know if you have any questions about the diet and let me know your progress. How much are you looking to lose in total?
  19. I thought I could never give up carbs either. After a week of not eatting them you really don't miss them, your body stops craving those goods. The good thing about south beach is after the 1st 2 weeks you can start intaking limited "good carbs" That's good that you don't have much to lose you can just cut back on some sweets and fatty foods. Good Luck!
  20. Thanks for the info. Def, looking for an adults only resort since it will be our honeymoon. We're getting married at the Grand in Montego Bay prior to our Honeymoon. When are you heading down to Jamiaca Mon??
  21. We're actually looking into Couples Swept Away in Negril. Which room did you go with? We're having our wedding at the Grand in Montego Bay with Ocean Front View and Butler service. We're nervous that we might be disapointed if we move to another hotel that doesn't offer us these things. The caves and rockhouse do look really cool...so many choices!
  22. I actually lost 12 lb in 7 days, today was my offical weigh in day! I think most of the reason I lost so much is I've been so busy at work I don't even have time to eat nor think about what I'm actually eatting at my desk for 5 minutes while writting an e-mail. You can pick up the south beach book for about $6 from your local book store. It's a low fat no carb diet, me and my FI are doing it together. He lost almost 8 lb!! He's all about the diet, he signed up for SouthBeachDiet.com and posts on the blogs and gets recipes while I'm on her bloging about the wedding LOL. I know where Rockland County is, I used to drove through it all the time driving to SUNY Oneonta from LI. I live in North Brunswick by Rutgers. Wow so jel, I wish I had a shore house. Where is it?
