  1. Are any of you guys hiring a videographer? I am debating, but it is another $1000 or so that I didn't necessarily plan on. Just trying to decide what to do. What are you guys doing?
  2. The TTD is what I am looking forward to the most!
  3. Bump bump..... ANYONE FIND A VIDEOGRAPHER YET? I saw an example of Forrester Gayle, but it also looked a family member's work. Perhaps that is the best route to do after all. I never imagined this would be so hard!
  4. Lindsnjosh-- I am doing a legal ceremony; it seems pretty easy in Jamaica, as opposed to Mexico which I think has stricter requirements... I don't know about the Domican Republic. Plus my resort is handling all of the paperwork, so we thought it would be easier. I suggest you talk to your resort to see what is required and what they will handle for you and decide what may be easier.
  5. Four months away until my big day! I am in full planning mode now and feeling excited and overwhelmed at the same time. Questions for you all..... 1. If you are staying on the resort for the rehearsal dinner, what type of food are you doing/did you do? For those that are already married and still checking the forum, any dishes you would recommend (for either rehearsal or reception?) 2. Anyone doing/did the excursions? Ziplining or cataraman cruise, etc? My guests are all arriving at scattered times, but by Thursday afternoon the majority should be there. I am going to do a low key welcome cocktail on Thursday night, let people eat at their leisure and relax after traveling and get settled in. I was thinking of doing some excursion on Friday morning/lunch time for those that want to join, but our rehearsal starts at 4:30 so I dont want anyone to feel rushed. However, i dont know anyother time to plan an excursion where everyone has the option of going because not everyone will get there until Thursday late afternoon, and I dont want to be off doing something earlier in the week when guests are arriving. Your thoughts? SO EXCITED!
  6. Flights for the wedding booked! It is getting closer and closer!!! Ahh!
  7. We are doing a tan suit, non-linen, and ties. I will have to check out Studio Suits!
  8. I just finished addressing invites last night. I only am doing "real" invites because of the politics of work-- I am up for a big promotion this year (that actually is decided the week of my wedding!) so I have to make sure that the right bosses get "invited" although I know none of them will attend. Or so I assume..... Ah! I made my RSVP deadline really early-- Sept 3, because I have to cancel any unbooked rooms by Sept 10 or lose my deposit. I really believe that anyone who plans to go has already told me, so now it is just a matter of getting those handful of people who are left who have expressed interest to decide one way or the other. And like Marlena, I do NOT want any surprise guests come popping up in November! Ahh, it is so close! So exciting and overwhelming all at once!
  9. Marlena-- what a great turn out-- 60 people without any real invites yet! We are at 52, and hope to get the invites out this week. We only have 3 rooms left at the resort, so I am hoping we dont have this huge rush of people booking now that have never even talked to us about it before. We will see! Maybe we will have to spill over into a neighboring resort..... my place allows non-resort guests to come to the ceremony/reception, so that is a nice option. I am SO JEALOUS your dress is too big. I am going to have to go on a celery only diet NOW! So little time to lose the flab! Happy planning everyone! Jacki
  10. 5 months! It is so close! It feels like I have been engaged forever, so I am excited the wedding is finally coming! Here is where I am at.... 1. Have my dress. It doesnt fit that well (bought the sample because it was what I loved and was being discontinued, so I told myself I could make it fit..... HA!), so I need to lose about 10 lbs still. Fingers crossed!!!! 2. Bridesmaids-- I told them the color, and just to get whatever dress they want in that shade. They do not live in the same town as me, but they said they were going to go look this weekend. Hopefully they can get some choices narrowed down and/or better yet, buy it so I dont have to think about it anymore. My FI emailed his groomsmen the types of suits he wants them to wear, and hopefully they start looking/getting them as well. I have a feeling our laid back attitude on the bridal party wear my end up in some last minute emergency mix-matchy ensemables. Oh well.... 3. I did a site visit back in March, so I got my flowers/cake/DJ/steel pan band all booked then. I haven't thought about menu or playlists yet. 4. Invitations came in the mail yesterday, so I hope to spend a few weekends this month getting them addressed and mailed. 5. I have not done the program, or thought abotu table numbers/place cards, OTT bags, bridal party gifts.... and I am sure there a thousand other details that I am forgetting or dont even know about! Hopefully this forum enlightens me on what I should be doing and when..... Happy planning ladies!
  11. atalanta, that tradition sounds great! thank you for explaining!
  12. Lisa, one more thing... I went to your videographer's website, but the "contact us" link was not working. Do you mind sharing his email? I have been on the hunt for a videographer, and his prices actually are decent. I would love to see some examples of his work! Thanks in advance! Jacki
  13. LISA! your review is awesome! So happy to see you had an amazing wedding. CONGRATULATIONS!
  14. KOREAN WINE CEREMONY? My FI is Korean, born in Seoul, lived there until he was adopted at age 4 by American parents. He has absolutely no Korean knowledge whatsoever, but I thought it would be nice to incorporate some of his native culture into our ceremony. Koreans have a lot of neat traditions, and I have googled everything about it and I think we are going to incorporate their wine ceremony, which appears to be like the unity candle/sand ceremony idea and what they do to seal their vows. But I am struggling to find appropriate wording for what to say during the wine ceremony (we each have a glass, take a sip, then pour them together and take another sip). I told my FI to figure out the actual words from Korea, and we will see what he comes up with, BUT in the "rare" event he does not spend his every spare moment planning this wedding (HA!), any ideas/suggestions from you ladies? Thanks in advance! jacki
  15. Pucca- THANK YOU SO MUCH! I really like that vest look... I am forwarding it to FI now!
  16. Officially a Junior Member with access to attachments. YAY!
  17. I got to 150 and it still has me as a NOOB and I cannot open attachments. Argh... I feel like I wasted so much time posting for nothing. Anyone know if they raised the # of posts for opening attachments? Or does it just take a bit for them to catch up and upgrade me out of NOOB status?
  18. My FI wants his guys to wear suits because he wants the jacket look, but I feel bad asking guys to pay to come to a DW and then on top of it buy a suit.... thoughts?
  19. Apparently using Stacey's photography website works... I received an email back from her within 30 seconds! I asked her whether she stil did videography, but she did not directly answer that question... she just said she is not available on my wedding date. I assume that means had she been available, she would have done video. So DaisyMable, maybe it is worth a try emailing her about video for your wedding. Happy hunting for a Negril videographer! Who knew it would be so hard!
