  2. Yes!! Especially since I want my whole wedding photographed from getting ready to reception plus a trash the dress. We actually found it cheaper to bring our own. This local photgrapher here is amazing and is giving us a huge discount since we are paying for his trip. It is turning out to be cheaper that way for us!!
  3. Ours does the same with the outside vendor fee and since I want my WHOLE wedding photographed (getting ready - reception + trash the dress) - photography packages are pretty expensive. We decided to bring our own photographer - we are paying for his trip and he is giving us a huge discount PLUS we will have rights to ALL of our pictures and have our photographer for as long as we want. It has actually turned out to be cheaper than hiring someone there - I have seen brides sharing photographers too (splitting their trip) - just an idea

  5. We ended up switching our resort to one that was more reasonably priced.... we are getting married at Ocean Blue and Sand now in Punta Cana. We are going through apple vacations as a group. Right now, prices are varying because people are leaving from various cities around the US, but all are under $1500 for 7 nights... I am much happier with this price. Also, everyone paid an additional $30 for Apple's price assurance so if the price drops at all, everyone will be given the lowest price. I am no longer sooooooo frustrated
  6. @emives I booked the dj/mc through the wedding coordinator since they charge $350 to bring in an outside vendor - so it s a little pricey at $987 but I really wanted a Dj and MC - if you go with just the Dj, it is a little cheaper at like $500 - you can also choose to play an ipod, but that just wasn't for us. Anyways, they have a facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Rs-Entertainment-EIRL/130773313618268. For the minister, we are using Rick York - he comes highly recommended on here. We are having a symbolic ceremony so this works perfect for us. We also wanted to make sure the ceremony was in English because I know some of the legal ceremonies have to be translated?? He sent me several variations of a ceremony script and let me edit it as I chose - love him already - he is $350. In the wedding services packet she sent me, there are 4 choices for decorations ranging from $300 to $1200 - it is in the same packet that contains flower and center piece options. If you don't have it, I could email it to you. @alittleranddr As far as wedding stuff goes, I am working directly with the hotel. I have a PDF file of extras if you want to send me your email, I could forward it. It has flower options, center pieces, extras, etc. We are working with a Pastor outside of the resort so that is how we have chose our ceremony script. If you are going with the hotel person, I'm sure you could request to have one sent to you. Congrats on the bargain dresses!! That's awesome!! Whenever you start your OOT bags, you should definitely consider being a coupon lady for a few months - I have got lots of stuff for fairly cheap - and you can use ebay to purchase large amounts of coupons for cheap. Yayy ladies - I am also so happy to have someone to chat with about all this too - keep me updated - I am traveling back to PA on Tuesday and get to see my wedding dress for the first time - it has been in since January (but I live in Arizona)

My fiance wants to kill me already and we're not even 6 months out yet LOL @Samantha88k someone who has already done the destination thing told me they bought a large cheap suit case at Big Lots - they filled it with all their OOT stuff and then once they got there, they pitched the suit case.... just an idea
  8. I am exactly one month earlier than you so far... I bought my dress...ordered my bridesmaid dresses...picked out groomsman attire (have yet to order though)....booked a dj/mc (been emailing back and forth about music)...hired a minister (also chose the ceremony script)....we chose the menu items....decoration package... I guess that isn't a ton either... I have also been working like crazy on stuff for OOT bags (I have become a coupon lady) - Are you doing those? 43 is a great number!! Right now, we only have 15 booked, but hopefully more will once these invitations go out. Next, I plan on doing programs and finalizing flower choices (hopefully)... I also need to figure out what I want to do about a photographer

This makes me one happy girl ✔ wedding is booked ✔ trip is paid for ✔ 15 guests have booked their trips ✔ minister is reserved (ceremony script is decided) ✔ DJ/MC is hired ✔ bridesmaid dresses are ordered ✔ wedding dress is in ✔ invitations are together and ready to be mailed (STD's were sent months ago) ✔ many OOT items have been purchased

  11. I am so happy these are finally done - they were not so much of a pain as I thought since I had a local print guy who did all the copying, cutting, and assembling for pretty cheap. These were designed by Sarah from Signature by Sarah Designs - she is so amazing and so affordable - I cannot recommend her enough!! If you have any questions, I would love to help as people on this site have been so helpful to me!! I have photoshopped out our website and contact info for obvious reasons, but HERE THEY ARE.. :) ..

  16. Also, the facebook group for ocean blue and sand brides said it is scheduled to be archived unless the admins of the group update it... they haven't so far, so I think I may just start a new group with the updated format... are you girls on facebook?
  17. Congrats @Laurelyn!! We just paid our deposit for Jan 28, 2012. La Brasa was already booked for that day so we are paying a little extra to have a poolside reception... I really hated the pictures of La Tortuga (lime green plaid curtains). Are you having a DJ? I originally wanted to use DJ Mania since I've heard so many amazing things, but the WC said there's a $350 just to use an outside vendor!!! I'm just interested to see what everyone else is doing...
