Congrats and welcome to BDW! Sounds like you're very well organized already! I'm with @MrandMrsBonitto2016 You need to determine whether you want to DIY or have them done, and she suggested 2 great sites! Hot pink is the colour my daughter in law wants to wear - I love it too! And then I'm adding turquoise into it because there is no way hubby will wear pink! lol Definitely search around the site and check out the DIY forums. There is a virtual ton of information that will likely help you out in some way. Good luck and happy planning!

I love your vows! Very heartfelt and beautiful! And your hubby sounds wonderful too! Congrats on everything turning out alright!

Well just a vow renewal here. October 20, 2015 (our anniversary) either Gran Porto Real in PDC if I can ever get the info I want, or Grand Sunset Princess. It's finally down to only 2!

That was the one problem with ours that I totally didn't think of and that was getting it home from Jamaica without the sand shifting. The set I got did come with a lid but we didn't fill it all the way. One of the WCs stuffed napkins in it for us then put the lid on but the pattern completely shifted. I was so disappointed when we got home. But it is what it is and minor in the grand scheme. I doubt hubby will agree to another one for the vow renewal. He calls them dust collectors. lol Men are just so sentimental sometimes.... lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Westin Wedding If Cabo Azul Is Too Difficult
acw271011 replied to dd1133's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
You're going to find that a large number of resorts charge outside vendor fees, and they can get quite expensive depending on what you want and where you actually end up. Some fees are as high as $800 or $1,000. A lot of brides just pay the fees if there is something really particular that they want, like an outside photographer or videographer. Even if you decide on an outside vendor for flowers, you will need to check the resort policy regarding items like that. This site will give you loads of information depending on which resort you decide on. Definitely check out the resort reviews and see what past brides have said about the resorts you're considering. Then search the forums and read what is being said by current brides about the specific resorts. And of course check with your travel agent! That is one of the best possible sources of information you'll get! Good luck and happy planning! -
Depending on what you find out, there is a website called www.preownedweddingdresses.com They have new and samples too so if you run into problems with getting what you want on time, it's a possible alternative. And everything is much cheaper than in a salon so definitely worth a look! They have some beautiful gowns! Good luck and congrats on your engagement! Welcome to BDW! You'll find a ton of information and tips and ideas here that will help you keep your sanity over the next couple of months! Happy planning!

Hi! We're considering Grand Sunset Princess too for our vow renewal in October 2015. The Gran Porto Real is still choice number one, but there are a couple of things I'm not too sure about with that resort. Someone suggested GSP so I took a look and it looks wonderful. I was hoping for something close to Playa del Carmen and I understand this resort is only about 10 or 15 minutes so I'm still not totally sure it will work for what I want, but it's definitely number 2 on the list! I'm looking at the sunset gazebo just based on things I've read about it being more private. I sent in the information request form, but because we're still so far out I haven't heard anything back yet, and I know I won't for a while yet. Is anyone else having a really small group? We're only going to be about 8 so I also know there are a lot of things we won't qualify for just because our group is so small. But since we're already married and this is just renewing our vows, I'm not too worried. Happy planning!!

Hi ladies. Yes - your dress, if you're carrying it, does count as a carryon, but we were told it was an "allowable" carry on exception so it didn't count as extra for a charge, and that was with Air Transat. It was like an extra piece that we were allowed. And yes - it does have to go through security. I had to fold the bag in half and lay it in one of the trays that goes through the scanner. Everything does. I've yet to see a way of getting around that. Here is something else you can do. Go to the website of the airline you're flying with and read through the allowable baggage. Air Transat has a section right on their website that deals with wedding dresses, and for Canadian brides I would think Sunwing and all the other charters do too. Another tip, go to Davids Bridal wherever you are and buy one of their cloth dress bags. It says Davids Bridal in red right on the front. Everyone will know it's a wedding dress, and believe me, however they can help you they will!! Happy planning!! Just as an FYI, there are very few "closets" on airplanes. Even the attendants stow their bags. There isn't the luxury of a closet to store it and as someone already mentioned, if a wheelchair needs to get put on board, then it gets priority. All the world loves a wedding but it's highly unlikely you'll get anything special as far as your dress goes. Just be prepared and get yourself a good garment bag to put your dress into. That way, you're covered and your dress is safe! Happly planning!

I'm sorry this is all happening at a time that is supposed to be a happy one! We had absolutely no one with us when we got married. Everything fell apart and it just snowballed. It very nearly split us up actually. It was second time around for both of us and we had been together 10 years. In the end it was my husband that put his foot down and said we were going ahead with our plans which was to get married in Jamaica. We had the 2 WCs as our witnesses but we had a wonderful time, I married the love of my life and we gave in and had an AHR for everyone that didn't come to Jamaica. We have grown kids and grandchildren so we knew for them it would be an issue but it all worked out in the end. It's a tough pill to swallow that people don't seem as happy for you as you are. Keep positive about the fact that people that do go to Mexico for your wedding are definitely people that love and care about you both. You will be marrying the man you love in a tropical paradise. And you will be married! You can't ask for more than that. It's the end result that is important and if you talk to your photographer ahead of time, I'm sure they will be able to find a tactful way around the picture taking that won't make you FI feel so bad about not having his family there. Good luck!! How are you making out with Gran Porto? It's still my number one choice, but I'm still so much on the fence about it. The crowded beach worries me. Grand Sunset Princess is an extremely close second choice but until some other things happen I can't go ahead and try to get a decision made. I'm the world's worst one for waiting!! lol

If you go to the top and click on Forums, in the search bar type Wedding Vows. You'll get a whole list of different ones but the one that I found that has a lot of info is the one called Wedding Vows. Sorry - I still don't know how to insert a link to another site or another BDW forum. Happy planning!

Newly Engaged And Looking For A Fab Canadian Travel Agent
acw271011 replied to FutureMrsAllison's topic in Newbies!!
GTA is the Greater Toronto Area I've heard a lot about Apple Vacations, some good and some bad, but they don't operate in Canada that I'm aware of. If anyone has heard of them working for groups in Canada I would love to hear. I've used two for different things. For our wedding we used Marlin Travel downtown Bay St location - Allison. She was great! For our vow renewal I just happened to get hooked up with Jessie at tripcentral.ca I have contact details if interested.- 22 replies

Hair Advice
acw271011 replied to pddcmc's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
That's something I would like to know too!! My hair is usually short mostly because it's so fine, and secondly because I'm old and can't be bothered doing a lot to it!! lol But seriously I've been trying to grow it out, or at least think about growing it out and it is driving me crazy!! I thought about hair extensions but that's as far as I got! There was a girl that got married in Jamaica just 2 days before we did and she had them in, but just for her wedding day. By that night in the disco they were gone! That's how easily they came out, and that worried me a little. If they come out that easily, then maybe it's not a good thing to think about trying? If anyone else can chime in, I would love to hear!! Thanks ladies!! -
Congrats and welcome to the site! You will find a ton of information here that will be helpful to you! A suggestion that maybe check out the resort reviews and see what other brides have said about resorts in both areas that you're looking. Do you have a travel agent yet? I would definitely recommend getting one if you don't already have one. That will make your selection much easier as they can give you insights into resorts and their locations as well as perhaps tips about getting married there. They can also help you out with possible perks based on your group that you might not be aware of. If you don't already have an agent, you can contact Wright Travel throught his site and I know they can help you out with information. Good luck and happy planning!

Help Losing Weight
acw271011 replied to Pablou's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
yep - I'm up for that! I would love to get about 35 off. The ultimate dream..... lol And 40 well..... that would be like winning the lottery and I'm not holding my breath for that!! lol The frustrating part is I was slim my entire life! Until I hit 40..... And then I hit 50..... And ladies, it really is all downhill from there! My doctor warned me that your metabolism changes at 40. Boy - she wasn't kidding!!!! But it's not that I love food. The real problem is that food loves me!!! Now .... if I could only invent a majic pill.. I'd be rich but I really wish someone would!! -
Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the site! We decided on a DW because it was second time around for both of us, we're quite a bit older and we just didn't want the fuss and expense of a big wedding at home. We opted for Jamaica and loved it! You'll find a ton of ideas and tips here and everyone is more than will to share their information! Good luck and happy planning!!

Help Losing Weight
acw271011 replied to Pablou's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Ladies - join the age old struggle! lol That sounds so much like me! My husband and I have been doing a diet for about 6 weeks now. Eating healthy. No junk. Nothing in the way of exercise really only because we both have been doing about 60 hours a week at work and to be honest, I'm just too tired when I get home at night to even think about exercise. I already get up at 5:30 am so don't mention getting up earlier to exercise. That's not in the cards. We're both running on about 5 or 6 hours sleep right now so I'm appreciating the little I'm getting. But guess what! He has lost weight!!! About 7 or 8 lbs! And what have I lost???? About a pound, maybe two. I mean really. Can we talk about frustration????? I'm seriously considering weight watchers or dr. bernstein or something like that but I have one more hospital round to get through and then I'm going to get serious about it! I was just hoping that I could do it a sensible way first and get a bit of a head start..... but it's just not working. We have a friend's daughter's wedding coming up in August and I have my dress but was really hoping to lose some weight so that I could go and get it altered and have it look amazing!! Don't think that's going to happen now...... So I'm up for any tips that anyone is willing to pass along.... just until I go into the hospital in September, then by January if all is well I'll be able to go full tilt and try to get off the weight that really needs to come off. Plus I'm hoping time in the hospital will help get some of it off too!!! -
Congrats and welcome to BDW! As everyone else has said, you will definitely find a ton of information and ideas on this site, and everyone is more than willing to share! You don't say if you're in the US or canada, although I suspect if you're considering Cuba that it's canada. Americans still are not allowed to travel to Cuba from the US, although I've heard they can travel there as long as they arrive from a country other than the US. Having said that, depending on the province you might be in, there are any number of travel agents that you could get a recommendation from on this site, but a travel agent is definitely a must! A good one will make your life easier, and your guests as well! As to where.... well that's much more of a personal choice, You need to think about what you want, where you've been and the type of wedding you're looking for. Each country that you've named offers something different and special. Absolutely reading the resort reviews will help. They're organized by country so you can be selective and read what you want to. that will go a long way to helping with a decision. The other, again, will be your travel agent! A good one again will help you with what each country/resort features in terms of what you want and it will be important to let them know what your "vision" is for your wedding, and let them help you with it! Then work with this site, and you'll find pretty much everything else you need here! Past and present brides (and grooms) have given of themselves here so I'm sure you will find information on just about anything you can think of!! Good luck and happy planning!!
