  1. That's great! I'm almost certain that's what I'm going to do as well, once I know we can go ahead with our plans!
  2. I just packed mine really well into my checked bag. It was just easier. What's really weird - I got to bring my Jamaica real flowers bouquet home with me! Made it through customs no problem! It lasted for more than a week after we came home!
  3. @nikkicraig10 Would you be willing to pass on the info you received? I'm having a really hard time getting any kind of response from anyone at the resort. I'm still trying to make my mind up as far as this resort for us or another one. We're a really small group so I don't know if what they offer will work for us. thanks!
  4. It was second time around for both of us. It's so nice to see the number of "second timers"! Except for a couple of people I've seen on here, I thought I was about the only oldie second timer. Life definitely does throw you curve balls as someone else mentioned. We had only been married 10 months when the life's curves started. The way things have worked out, with hospital stays, we've yet to be able to go somewhere special to celebrate our anniversary, and it's going to happen again this year for number 3. It's why I asked, if things go well this time, that next year for our anniversary we celebrate with a vow renewal. I truly did find the love of my life and my best friend! So we keep fingers crossed and look forward again...
  5. omg I love this!!!!! that is gorgeous!! hhmmmm think that might be one to ask the photographer for..... lol the garter is beautiful. I would love something like that set with a colour almost like a regular garter. put all together - lace, colour and the bling - would really be pretty!
  6. What about taking some time and looking around maybe? There are so many wonderful photographers in the RM area. Maybe contact a couple of others and see what their pricing and packages offer. I can think right off the top of my head of about 4 that don't cost anywhere near that much, and their photos are wonderful! Good luck!
  7. I like the idea of buying small trial size bottles and then getting creative! there are so many DIY projects on here I'm sure you could find something that would work as a label. Then you could personalize them and still incorporate "Aruba" into the labels! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Congrats on your engagement and welcome to BDW! I'm going to chime in on all of the other comments and agree with them completely. You do sound very well organized, and the fact that you've already narrowed down your resort choices says you seem pretty clear on what you want. I'm also going to add to what pddcmc said about a travel agent. The thing is some resorts will offer perks for groups, or little extras for your wedding and you won't know about them unless you have a travel agent helping you out. As well, you can refer all of your guests inquiries directly to the TA and take a load of stress off you! You don't say what country you're in, but the owners of this site are Wright Travel and they are destination wedding specialists. If you are in the US they will be terrific to work with. If you're in Canada though I would recommend an agent locally only because of the way packages are put together here with charter airlines and all inclusives. You will find a ton of information and tips and ideas here that will definitely help you out through the planning process and everyone is very willing to share what they know! Good luck and happy planning!!
  9. Congrats and welcome to the site! I would highly recommend spending some time reading through the site. The resort review and vendor review sections, even though you live in Mexico, will give you some insite on what other brides have experienced, Everyone is more than willing to share information, so there will be no shortage of that! Good luck and happy planning!!
  10. @@rachm7 Congrats on your engagement and welcome to BDW! You will find a ton of information here that will help you through the planning process! And everyone is more than willing to share! One thing that might help you out is the resort reviews tab at the top. It covers if not all, then probably most of the resorts between Cancun and the Riviera Maya! lol And the Palace resorts are very popular so I know there are reviews there that will help with your decision. I see you're a UK bride to be - do you have a travel agent yet? That will be another resource that will help with your location decision. The resort credits that @@FutureMrsGlover mentioned I believe are still available to you but I don't believe on the scale that are available in the US. They do their room and flight bookings differently in the US than in Canada and the UK. We are much more on all inclusive package deals! Yay us!! lol Still, again that's something that your TA will be able to help you with as to what will be most beneficial to you. As well, a TA will take a lot of the stress off you and your guests' inquiries. Best of luck and happy planning!
  11. Avery also makes a package that comes with the bag and the labels. You print onto the labels, put your stuff in the bag, then peel back the label and attach it to the bag. They're pretty cool. http://www.avery.com/avery/en_us/Products/Marketing-Solutions/Labels/Printable-Bag-Toppers-with-Bags-Laser-InkJet-4up-10-sheets_22801.htm This is the .com site. I think they're also available on the .ca site for Canadian brides.
  12. @@HerreraNovia Congratulations and welcome to BDW! You will find a virtual fountain of information here that will help you through each step of your DW planning. The Riviera Maya is truly a beautiful place to get married! I agree with @@AllieH - check out the resort reviews section of the site. I'm sure you will find some information on the resorts you're researching. Do you have a travel agent yet? That is definitely something that will help you with your location decision. TAs have information on perks, group rates and tips that will help you plan your DW. Wright Travel, the owner of this site, are destination wedding specialists and have access to all of the special details to make yours and your guests' experience a wonderful one! Definitely check the review of their services in the vendor review section. Good luck and happy planning!
  13. Oh they are just too cute!!! Where did you find the designs? They turned out great! I didn't think of doing any kind of thank you on the back of mine but that's a great idea!!! And you're right - a 2 in 1. Saves more expense on a separate thank you!
  14. lol that's a good word to describe it and one I hadn't thought of! inspirational lol I like it!
  15. Keep looking! lol I'm sure there will be someone that will chime in somewhere along the way with some information. Good luck!
  16. You could try this site: http://www.clearenvelopes.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=luggage+tags @@tygrrlily - did you get the pics? I have a couple if you like
  17. This is one site: http://www.clearenvelopes.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=luggage+tags That's the one I'm aware of. Perhaps someone else has another site that they used. Good luck!
  18. Have you tried the resort reviews section? As well, what about the forum for that resort? Here is the one that I found: www.bestdestinationwedding.com/.../64181-2013-melia-caribe-tropical- brides/ Then there is also a review www.bestdestinationwedding.com/.../20646-melia-caribe-tropical-all- inclusive/ Hope that helps! Good luck and happy planning!
  19. Thanks @bicoastalimages That's who I was trying to think of! Joyce has made tons of suggestions on this site for different things. Definitely check her out. You can get in touch with her right from this site. I know if you pm her she'll respond quite quickly. Best of luck!
  20. Have you tried looking online, or at the vendor review section on this site? I'm sure there would be something there. Or also there is a vendor here called Dream Weddings. If you message them I'm sure they'll have suggestions for you. Good luck!!
  21. You'll find that's the case with I think all resorts. Your wedding, sorry to say, is only a daily priority to you! lol Sorry ladies. The resorts deal with the pertinent details to start, i.e. confirm your date and time, and location then they work with the weddings that are more immediate. We were told, generally, you'll hear more from your resort and WC about 8 weeks in advance of your date, and most of your details will only be finalized when you actually meet the WC at the resort and have your pre-wedding meeting. I will say this though. Don't stress about it!! I know it's so easy to panic over not hearing from them because I did!! But these resorts do this all the time, almost every day so they know what they're doing. I can't imagine having as many weddings to deal with at one time as they do, but they come through every time and I promise you will feel just as special on your wedding day as every other bride. The one thing you will see in brides' reviews when they come back is "I don't know why I stressed out about it so much. It was wonderful and they handled everything" Enjoy your planning! (even if you aren't hearing from the WC every week! lol)
  22. I would definitely be interested! I tried the contact link and something went wrong with it, or it may just be my stupid computer at work.
  23. @@tygrrlily is right. Research. Spend some time on the internet looking at what the photographers' work looks like, and what attracts you. It will be very individual in terms of what you like and what you don't like in their styles. The contact them and ask for their pricing and what they offer. How many hours, how many shots, even how long it will take them to get your photos to you. There are some very, very, well qualified photographers in Mexico that do some beautiful work. You just have to do a little bit of work yourself, and see what you like and what you think will work for you! Good luck and happy planning!
  24. Lol - breathe!!! I had the same thing happen. Every time I tried to get a date, they would say it's available , then when I would confirm it by email they would say, no it's already booked!!! This was after our original date fell apart completely because all of our guests backed out!! Including the best man and MOH!! I know the RWS is a new resort, but just remember, these resorts make a living at doing destination weddings. Even though the pace of life in Jamaica is completely different, they still are professionals and know what they're doing. I promise it will all work out! Some deep breathing and a little bit of patience! The other thing I invested in was an international phone card! It cost $10 and it let me phone Jamaica and actually talk to one of our wedding coordinators. It puts your mind at ease when you get to talk to a live person, and it will let you confirm what you have sent in emails. It will all come together! Honest!! And if you need help you can ask here! Happy planning!!
  25. Not sure where you're located. In the US there is always Men's Warehouse. They have locations all over so at least all of your "men" could go wherever they live and get measured and get whatever they're supposed to be getting. There is also Tommy Bahama online. They have a wedding section devoted to destination weddings. Each person could order whatever they need to. They have a deal on lately for free shipping too. There is also a place called islandimporters.com They also have a wedding department. Someone else mentioned I think Macy's as well. If you're in Canada there are also quite a few places depending on what you want. Tommy Bahama also ships to Canada if you find something you like. Some people have used J. Crew and Le Chateau. Hope that helps a little but it will all come down to what you're looking for and your specific tastes. Good luck and happy planning!
