  1. Hi ladies. the one thing I've read with a couple of other trip advisor reviews that has me concerned is the lack of air conditioning in the a la carte restaurants. Someone just told me about this resort so I thought I would take a look to see what it looks like and it looks really nice, but the lack of air conditioning would worry me. Has anyone else heard about this same thing? @Pitita if you're going this month, is that something you could look into? We're much older, and the people that we would be travelling with are the same, and non-air conditioning would really be an issue for us. thanks!!
  2. Congrats and welcome to BDW! Good luck and happy planning!
  3. Hi. Just curious about one thing. lol How was the resort food? Not necessarily the wedding food because usually they work a bit harder on that , but I mean the resort food in general? thanks!!
  4. We had a bunch of people on board at the beginning, and we changed our date to accommodate everyone else, from October to November. Well, it all fell apart, bit by bit. We're older and have grown kids with kids of their own so thought maybe they wouldn't be able to go. But as people cancelled, it just snowballed and everyone was afraid the price would go up if we didn't make our group quota. Well, in the end the BM and MOH backed out too. I was so hurt. It nearly split hubby and I up after 10 years together because we argued about it so much. We were going to cancel the trip and everything and just get married at home, then honeymoon in Jamaica but the costs just escalated like crazy. In the end, he put his foot down and said screw everyone else. We're doing what we wanted in the first place and that's going to Jamaica to get married on the beach. And we did. Just the two of us with the 2 WCs as our witnesses. We had a great time! Sure there was part of me on the day of the wedding that looked down the long path and saw no one there, but when I saw him at the end standing with the minister, that did it. He looked so damned handsome and sexy standing there that all I wanted was to marry him. The resort I think took pity on us and treated us like royalty for our wedding since we were only 2, and our photographer was the absolute sweetest man in the world about it all and even stayed and had dinner with us. I realized ladies that the end result was the most important. I married the absolute love of my life in a beautiful gazebo on a gorgeous beach in Jamaica and that's what counted. Yes - we missed having family and friends there and there is a friendship that hit the skids over it and is finished but we had an AHR 2 weeks after we got home and almost 3 years later people still talk about it because it was so much fun. Whatever is meant to be will be. And now it all turned out to be even more important because I almost ended up not being here to even tell anyone about our wedding. Just a little too close as a matter of fact. If all goes well we will celebrate our life together and renew our vows next year on our anniversary in October. We have people that have said they would like to go. Will they? I don't know at this point. Anything could happen. But again the important thing will be that we're both alive, and hopefully both healthy again and able to renew our commitment to each other whether there is anyone else there or not. I know it's difficult when you're young and just starting out but treasure your time together and don't dwell on having the perfect wedding. You just never know if God has another plan for you and when it all could be taken away. Good luck to everyone and happy planning! Enjoy the process of getting to the alter!
  5. This is what decided it for me. I went looking on the internet for things using that colour combination just so that I could see what it would look like. My daughter in law already said she wants to wear hot pink. I had asked for Coral so that's why I went looking to see if it was a combination I could live with and I fell in love with the 2 colours together! Stupid that it came from a flower girl dress, but whatever floats your boat I guess... Then I went looking for flowers for ideas, again to see if the 2 together was something I wanted. I know she would wear Coral if I asked her but if she is happy with the colour then she'll be happier wearing it.The turquoise flowers I want maybe just a touch more turquoise and I want to change the white to more of a cream colour, and I think with the pink I'll change the light pink that's in this bouquet to a cream colour as well. And last but not least this is the dress I picked out and she loves it, so we're doing it in hot pink.
  6. Oh I like this thread. Ok let's see: 1. US 2. Mexico 3. Jamaica 4. Barbados 5. Martinique 6. Antigua 7. St Thomas 8. St Marten 9. Puerto Rico 10. England 11. Scotland Oh yeah and done both coasts of Canada. I think that's all of them. There are just sooooo many more I want to get to!

  8. Oh I wish! I love the ruffles!! That's gorgeous!! But... yep too small for me too!! Would you mind passing on who custom made it for you?
  9. Wow ladies these dresses are all gorgeous!! oh to be young... and slimmer... again!! believe it when someone's tells you that everything goes south when you get older! well if not south then largely below the waist!!! I so hope when it comes time for me to find my renewal dress that some of the extra (and I don't mean cost) gets shed! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Anyone looking for videography, we used Roxroy Gough. He's local and did a great job on our video for a very reasonable price!
  11. I'm sorry to hear your experience with Tai wasn't a pleasant one. It's really unfortunate because my experience with them was wonderful! I found them very patient and willing to listen and their prices were fabulously reasonable! I would definitely highly recommend them!!
  12. I completely understand your dilemma! I have to admit there is still a small part of me that is still asking that question! My husband and I have been to Mexico several times and LOVE it!! Especially Playa del Carmen! It's vibrant and interesting! And everything is so cheap in Mexico! We couldn't believe some of the prices we paid to eat out in great restaurants!! And the food is soooo good!! lol And thre are so many fabulous wedding photographers!!! We got married in Jamaica, and for our first trip there, we absolutely loved it!! The people are wonderful! The resort went out of their way to look after us. Our wedding was wonderful! Everything about our trip was great! We desperately wanted to go back for our first anniversary! Well, real life set in, and due to serious health issues, we have not yet been able to really celebrate our anniversary! When I started to look at details for a vow renewal next year, I immediately started to look in Mexico just because we miss it so much. We haven't been able to get away for a couple of years now. But I will admit to having the heartstrings tugged by Jamaica, just because our original plan was to go back there for our first anniversary. And I read the posts on here about Jamaica and wonder....... should we or shouldn't we??? But then I think about the cost of photography and that puts me back to Mexico. The pricing for wedding photographers in Jamaica, compared to most in Mexico, I find is pretty high. I would love to go back to Jamaica, and the friends that have said they will travel with us would all love Jamaica. I'm just not sure I can get a photographer for the same reasonable prices as Mexico! Good luck with your decision and happy planning!!
  13. @Tinkerbell82 your dress is absolutely stunning! and I love your video! do you have a link to the seller? I can't seem to get the name to come up when I search for it! Thanks!
  14. @@AllieH is totally right on the money. It can get very frustrating. It's not like planning a wedding in the US or Canada, where you start months and months ahead. Destination weddings are done quite differently and I've seen a lot of brides on this site who are very surprised by the fact that they won't get really involved with their WC until about 2 months before their wedding! Definitely be persistent. Eventually they will respond in between all of the other weddings they have to deal with. And make sure you keep and print ALL of your emails. Make yourself a folder to keep them in and take it with you! Especially if you feel there are language problems with what you're asking about. The mails will just help make sure you get what you're asking for once you arrive in Mexico. It will turn out ok. It may not seem like it at this point, but it will. Good luck and happy planning!!
  15. Wow - that's a great price! We just picked up 2 of those for camping at Walmart in PA and they were almost $4 each! I'm still trying to decide what I'm going to do for bags. Need to wait and see how many peeps we get, but I probably won't need more than 6 or 8. In the meantime, we're going to try these out this summer. I think they're a great size especially since the bars in Mexico all use the little tiny plastic cups and you need to keep going back to the bar every 5 minutes for refills!!!!
  16. Congrats and welcome to the site! Tammy is absolutely right! There is a ton of information here that I know will be of some help to you. I had dendrobium orchids in my bouquet in Jamaica, but they were what I ordered so I don't know if they cost extra or not. It was just the price quote that I got. They are definitely an absolutely gorgeous flower!! Good luck and happy planning!!
  17. If you're in the US, I would definitely recommend connecting with Wright Travel that own this site. They are destination wedding specialists! If you're in Canada, definitely there are brides on here that could recommend a travel agent for you depending on where you are. Good luck and happy planning!!
  18. Congrats and welcome to the site! Good luck with your planning!
  19. I have the app but haven't taken the time to check it out yet. I'll have to get back to you on that one....
  20. That's an interesting situation. I've never heard of this one before. How about something like: "help us make beautiful pictures. we invite you to be part of our colour scheme by dressing in one of the following three colours...." I think you have to find a way to make it fun or yes, someone might take offense. Especially since it's a beach wedding and not a formal wedding. People tend to dress down a bit more for a beach wedding. Good luck!
  21. Just curious who everyone has booked for photography?
  22. Oh you HAVE to go with the aqua!!! I'm so in love with that combination that's what I'm doing!! lol But I don't mind if you copy me.... lol Seriously though, I really do love that combination. Not as partial to teal.... And there are so many brides on here that have done the same colour combinations that I don't care if you do! lol If anything, I would be jumping up and down to see what you put together for flowers and dresses and stuff. And besides.. you know what they say! Great minds do think alike!! Can't wait to see what you decide!!!
