I was just on the Jasmine site, and I'm honestly not sure I like what I see. Their prices are definitely higher but does that really mean you're getting something better? Thankfully I have time on my side, but I can see this is going to need more investigating. My only catch to the site I posted earlier was that they will only do white, ivory and champagne and a couple of the dresses I'm in love with are blush pink. Hopefully I will get to see some orders over the next couple of months to see how they turn out.

www.dresshop.com.au Has anyone heard of this site? It says it's australian and the prices are in australia dollars. I've found 4 of what I've looked at on the site. Does this mean they have already made them, or that they will make them? What are the other ones? I know there is babyonline, jasmines and dressilyme. What am I missing? I'm really getting intrigued by this and wondering if it's worth just going ahead and ordering something and seeing how it turns out.

Colour Scheme & Palette
acw271011 replied to MrsRoy's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I'm in definitely for turquoise so far. I wanted coral or a salmon colour with it. My son that is travelling with us - his girlfriend that was going to be a "bridesmaid (we're already married so we don't need any witnesses or whatever) asked me if she could have hot pink instead. I put the 2 colours together and I was ok with it. It wasn't what I wanted but what the heck. I thought it would look nice in pictures. Well, supposedly (still waiting for the "news") they have broken up so now I don't know what will happen. If he doesn't have another girlfriend by next year, then what? Like I said, a bridesmaid insn't necessary for a vow renewal and neither are witnesses. But I guess it would mean the whole scheme woudl be turquoise and I could make my flowers the original colour I wanted which is coral/salmon and do the guys in the same coloured bouts. -
Did Anyone Use Air Transat For Their Flights?
acw271011 replied to kellymiller's topic in Canadian Destination Wedding Group
Absolutely love Transat. That's who we flew with for our wedding to Jamaica and we had a bunch of little special upgrades. Sorry to the other ladies, but I absolutely HATE flying air canada, and only do it when I absolutely have to. They suck. We've done Sunwing too and they're super as well. Transat does not have a closet and for you canadian brides, you'll have a tough call with that one. I've yet to see any of the charters - Sunwing and Transat that have that available. There were 3 brides on the flight with us and there wasn't anyone that got access to a closet because there wasn't one. I picked an over head bin for my dress and just folded it in half once. Then I just guarded it and held the lid down and wouldn't let anyone else near it. with the fabrics of wedding dresses, unless you're getting satin or taffeta, the dress will be just fine folded once for a few hours. Once you arrive where you're going get it undone from the bag and let it hang. Then the day before your wedding or early the day of, get it hanging in a steamy shower. That will help shake down any wrinkles. The other thing I did was invest in a portable steamer from Walmart. It wasn't expensive and I did use it for my husband's shirt and another dress that I had with me. If you have parents with you they would probably help out so FI doesn't see it but the main thing will be to get it out of the bag for a bit. -
Congrats and welcome to BDW! I'm going to go off track a bit with the other ladies and recommend a travel agent first! If you don't already know what resort you want, a TA can be the best person to help you with price ranges and additional bonuses that they have access to. Once you get a few resorts narrowed down, then you can definitely do your own research and narrow it down even further. The resort reviews on this site can be a big help. @@kmk2016 is right about whether you are in the US or Canada. Packages are put together differently depending on where you are so that will also affect what your expectations are. The other thing a travel agent will help you with is your date if you don't know what time of year you want. You would consider hurrican season and high and low season for pricing. Obviously everyone generally will go for the January, February, March, April timeline just because it gets a lot of people away from winter and incorporates a vacation along with your wedding. Lots of things to think about. Good luck and happy planning!

hey ladies. Has anyone checked on Grano Bridal? It's one that keeps popping up when I do searches and the prices seem reasonable. But I always wonder if these places are dodgy or not. I'm really worried about paying and ending up with junk. I've seen a couple of the dresses I like aleady on a couple of sites. Does that mean they are ones they've already made, or just trying to show the designers that they'll do? When you say about being measured, do you mean rather than picking a size?

Don' know where you're getting married but if it's the Riviera Maya there are several local florists that a few ladies on this site have used. Or if you're in Cancun I'm sure there are a couple there as well. Jamaica there are basically only 2 that all the resorts seem to use if you want the names. Any other countries, I'm sorry I don't have info but I'm sure there are other ladies here that might have information that can help.

The best person to decide will be your photographer. They will know the sites where you're allowed to have your session, and if it's a cenote session you want, they'll know the places you can go. Some of the cenote sites are highly connected to Mayan religious symbols, so there could very easily be restrictions on what you can and can't do. I remember the one we went to near Coba and the site had to be blessed before we went in. It took about 10 minutes before we even were allowed to walk the trail. Some of the sites are really neat. Check your photographer's site and see if they have TTD pics on their website. Do they have TTD rates? The sessions always cost extra over and above your general photography. Plus you need to think about getting to the site in your dress, or is there somewhere to change. Once it's wet you'll need somewhere to change into regular clothes afterwards. If you get all the details worked out, what about a second dress for a TTD? If you've paid a lot of money for your dress, do you want to get it wet? Sometimes they come out perfectly from dry cleaning, but there are some fabrics that don't handle the water well. Lots to think about! Good luck!

Artificial Flowers-Best Place To Buy
acw271011 replied to Nybride525's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
check out esty. there are a couple of flower designers on there that some brides have talked about, but I don't remember names. -
What you need to do is key into the search bar the information you're looking for. There are so many forums here that I can guarantee whatever you're looking for that something will pop up. It's almost a given that whatever you ask, has already been asked and answered by others so definitely take a look.

Hi @jetagj Welcome to BDW! And congrats! I got married in Jamaica and its a wonderful place for a wedding!! If you are in the US, the owners of this site - Wright Travel are destination wedding specialists and have access to tons of information that will help you with your plans. I'm not sure how much they'll be able to help with your international travellers but definitely speak with them and let them know what you need. i would highly recommend the Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica where we got married. It is very reasonably priced and they have a beautiful gazebo right on the beach for your ceremony. It's so pretty!! They also have some really nice restaurants to hold your reception and Jamaica has some really wonderful wedding photographers!! Definitely check out both the resort reviews and the vendor reviews on this site to see what other brides have said about their experiences. You'll find everyone here very willing to pass along suggestions and advice and there are a large number of Jamaica brides, both past and present here too so I know you'll get a lot of good information! Good luck and happy planning!!

Long Hair With Bird Cage Veil?
acw271011 replied to SamanthaC's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Hi. I really like the birdcage veils too. They're so pretty. I can't see why you couldn't wear your hair down! It's your day - you can do almost whatever you want! If it's looks good on you, then go for it!!! As to the pictures, beside the black "Post" button is a button that says More reply options. If you click on that, it should give you another button on the left to upload attachments. There is a size restriction per upload of 5mb but if you then preview the post before you actually post it you should see the picture there instead of a link and that should allow everyone to see it. Good luck! I've been around for a while but still not that good at all the little ins and outs of how to do things! lol -
We got married in Jamaica simply because it was so much easier than Mexico. Even though we were both divorced and much older, the paperwork we had to provide was pretty simple. Mexico was more complicated because we were divorced and I wasn't in to paying the high translation fees for everything to be put into Spanish. But just because you get married at home first, it doesn't do anything to your "married" status or cause complications that I've ever heard of. If someone has had trouble, maybe they could add in here. You'll find a lot of people on this site doing the legal wedding at home before going to Mexico, and I would think, in my personal opinion, it would make sense unless you're prepared for the blood test and translating all of your documents. I've seen ladies here doing just that, so it's definitely a matter of personal choice. If you have a courthouse nearby, you could do the legal stuff a couple of days before you leave and that's it. In terms of the legalities of name changing and so on, you would need to understand that if you're married before you go to Mexico, what you receive there is only a symbolic marriage certificate. Not that any guests or anyone would notice the difference, but it isn't a legally binding marriage certificate so it wouldn't be the documentation you need for changing your name, etc. Your official "name change" date would be the date of your legal wedding, not your Mexico wedding. But if you don't tell friends and family, who's to know and who's to care? Let them think that your Mexico wedding is your "real" wedding. No harm no foul. I wanted our wedding date to be just that - our wedding date, so Jamaica worked for us instead of Mexico. Good luck and happy planning!

Congrats and welcome to BDW! You'll definitely find a ton of information here that should help you out with your list! Firstly, if you don't have a travel agent, I would highly recommend getting one. They are the best consultants as far as recommending resorts. If you're in the US, the owners of this site - Wright Travel - are destination wedding specialist and know all the ins and outs of who has some of the better incentives for groups. You can contact them through this site. You sound like you know what you want so you could always check out the vendor reviews and see what past brides have said and experienced. There are a lot of good photographers in the RM. Again, check out the vendor reviews. You'll be able to go to their websites and see what style jumps out at you for photography. They all have their unique way of doing things so what works for someone else might not work for you. Lastly, all the brides (and few grooms) are more than willing to share info so you'll definitely get tons of advice and suggestions. Good luck and happy planning!

Well I'm not a great example because we lost everyone! And ended up getting married just the two of us! But we only had about 16 people anyway. It was second time around for both of us, we're quite a bit older and have grown children with kids of their own. But everyone was on board and enthusiastic in the beginning and we were going to have the whole group, but as one went down, the rest followed and in the end even the MOH and BM backed out. Needless to say we aren't friends with them anymore since their excuse was total BS! Having said all that, there is a lot that comes into play when trying to figure out who will and who won't. Who the people are - family or friends. Where you're going, how many you've invited, when you're going and how much it really is going to cost. Some people will move heaven and earth to be there with you (maybe the ones you don't expect), then the ones that you think you're really sure of are the ones that back out. The ones that tend to wait until the last possible moment to book are usually the ones that have had to give it serious thought either on the money front, or vacation time front or whatever. If you want a "safe" count, I would think figure on about one quarter of who you've invited to decide no. But again.... a lot will be just wait and see. Good luck!

I'll be honest - they seem stricter coming back into the US and canada than going into Mexico. I've seen people coming back into New Brunswick after camping across the border in Maine and forgetting leftover firewood, and customs has confiscated it. They had this big pile of firewood sitting there! And where we cross at Buffalo NY there is a big sign that says no fruit or vegetables, plants or firewood so I can see why you had fruit taken. But again, I got my bouquet back into canada and nobody said a thing, or even looked at it twice. I was fully prepared to have it taken away but I brought it home and it lasted for almost 2 weeks after. I know the guy at the airport said something about the fact that it was cut flowers. He said "they're cut flowers. you can't plant them" so no idea if that really is the difference or what. Maybe something different between Mexico and Jamaica???

they're both really pretty!! I took a look at babyonline last night and was somewhat surprised by what I saw. I'm starting to seriously consider one of these sites. The dresses I'm looking at are running in the range of $1400 so some savings would be nice. One of them is on the babyonline site and it's like less than $200 so I'm sort of thinking what the heck. spend a little bit of money. if it's good, great and if it's not, then no big loss. But I would like to go to a salon I think and try some on first to see what I really like and I'm still a few months away from that.
