  1. lol in my line of work, yes there are dumb questions! But thanks! so do you just clip it around the stem of your glass? They look too big! I think they're adorable and if I could figure out what to do with them, I might be interested in them! lol
  2. I love those!! But I have a really DUMB question (sorry). What are wine charms? (shows how much I know!!)
  3. You know, I'm thinking while reading the different comments here that there really is absolutely no reason why wedding dresses should be modelled by women that would disappear if they turned sideways!!
  4. Could the canadian ladies clarify something for me? My understanding has always been with a canadian group that the booking is with the tour operator, not the specific agent. While yes you want your group to all go throught he same agent, I had always thought that someone else could still get into your group through another agent because it was through the operator. Is that right or wrong? Let's say someone is in Vancouver and your booking originates in Toronto. Could the Vancouver person use their own agent there to book with your group out of Toronto? Just assume that they were going to arrive in Toronto ahead of time and fly with you from TO. Could their agent contact Transat (just as example) and say I have so and so to add to the "Smith" wedding leaving Toronto on june 90th, 2050. Would their agent have access to the booking? Thanks ladies. Curiousity is killing me on this one!!! lol (jk)
  5. Follow your photographer's lead. They know the area best! And if you've got a good one, they will be amazing!! Have fun and good luck! Enjoy!
  6. The best advice I can give is love her for what she picked out and talk to your photographer. Yes - it is amazing what they can do! I lost my mom when I was 15 so haven't had her at all for most of my life and definitely not the first time I got married, or the second. You don't know what you have until you don't have it anymore. Cherish the time you have. It's time you will look back on later in life and be thankful for!
  7. When you get old like me, weight becomes even more of a struggle. I never had a weight problem until I hit 40. I had been warned.... lol The doctor said it gets harder after that age. Well, add on a few more years past 40, and the fact that I truly have met the love of my life and am happier than I have ever been, that translates into weight gain. Plus serious health issues, major surgery with lingering issues and an extended hospital stay. Well that all adds up to about 35 extra pounds. I would love nothing more than to lose it. I have arthritis as well, so exercise is a love hate relationship. I love to hate it because of how painful it can be. With the next hospital stay now booked and what the hopes are this time around, it should mean losing about 20 lbs and hoping it doesn't come back on. Then with everything hopefully normal after this, trying to lose an additional 15 to 20 lbs. All depending on how things go and the hope that more surgery isn't needed in the spring, which would throw all the plans right out the window!!!
  8. Oh that's a fun question! We were married in Jamaica on October 20th at 1pm. Yes it was hot. In fact I wasn't careful and I have sunburn strap marks in our pictures. But where we got married was right down at the edge of the beach in a gazebo overlooking the water, and there was a wonderful breeze that blew through our whole ceremony. The pictures have my dress blowing in the breeze, and even walking down the pathway, it blew behind me the whole way down! lol So yes it was hot, but there was enough of a breeze that we were completely comfortable.
  9. If you're doing fuschia, with your blush dress? It will look amazing!!!!! And the guys in grey? Gorgeous all together!!! I want my dress in colour too and I've found two that I really like. One is blush and I think I'm going with the fuschia colour as well, and with the turquoise. I put the colours together with fabric swatches from Davids and I think it looks beautiful!!!!
  10. Wow!! That's totally awesome!! You did a fantastic job on it, and I LOVE your engagement story! It's sooooo cute!!!!
  11. This is just a PERSONAL opinion, nothing else. But here is what I think: A beautiful beach, a clear blue sky. A love united as waves crash by. Along with their parents, please join Bride and Groom As they unite in marriage. then the rest of your details... Just one little thought in your note that I put in red, but otherwise it sounds beautiful, and I think asking to donate to charity is a truly wonderful thing to do!!! As I said, this is a personal opinion only!!! Well done!!
  12. My mom passed away when I was 15 (a very, very long time ago! lol) and even though it was a second time around in Jamaica, I pinned a peice of her jewellery that I have to my bouquet. It was my something old, and my something blue as well as a "memory" piece. I wanted the sixpence, but I wore sandals so it didn't work.
  13. That's great! I didn't know about transparent images. I was looking at other boarding pass DIYs and couldn't figure out how the images turned out so nicely!! I think we're going to be turquoise and pink so not sure if turquoise paper would be too nice lol, but maybe an off white with turquoise ink colour might work.... I do have the template from one of the other sweet brides to be but looked at it, panicked and closed the file again! lol Total chicken here ladies..... Well, lots of time like I said and a hurdle to get over first. Hoping by end of October news is good and I can go ahead witht he DIY! At least I already have my design in Vistaprint as a backup!
  14. Well since I have so much time yet, I think I may be learning how to DIY! lol They have minimum quantities and I only need about 10. Once I come out of the hospital I'll be home for 6 to 8 weeks so that might just be the time to learn!! Thanks for the links! I may still be able to look there for ideas!! Now to find a how to.......
  15. Wow!! I SO want to try and do something like this.... but when it comes to DIY I'm not DIY!! Does anyone know somewhere inexpensive that will do these for you? I really do wish I had some craft talent.... but I must have been at the back of the line when the talent was handed out!!
  16. If you're looking at a Real resort, there is also Gran Porto Real in Playa del Carmen that is apprently right down the street from a catholic chapel in PDC! And of course the Real resorts list the option of a catholic chapel in their wedding package designs so you could build it right in as you design your package. Good luck!
  17. Wow! I'm really surprised being in canada that you went this route! In the US, yes it can make a big difference, but in canada flights are SO expensive with all the ridiculous taxes we get charged, and aiport fees, etc. Flights from US cities can really be so much cheaper!! Package vacations are the norm here. Most tour operators that I've seen out of Toronto do offer 3/4 night stays as well as 5, 7 and 8 or 10. I'm surprised given the circumstances that your travel agent didn't cover this with you and offer you the alternative. It's really too bad that people are looking to book elsewhere. You could always look at the tour operators for flights only and if they're good enough make that suggestion. Sometimes Transat, Sunwing and Westjet have the seats to be able to do flights only. But again, they'll get stuck with the all the high taxes/fees that we get here. Ask your agent to look at other alternatives for you so that you can direct people to there with the idea that your agent can help them find cheap flights. It's worth a shot. Good luck!
  18. I think everyone does. The one thing I have learned in life is that if it is meant to be, it will. That may not sound like "sage" advice, but it's a lesson that I've learned the hard way. If you love him, and that love is enough to get you through, then go for it. If it's your feelings you're doubting, then find someone to talk to, to help you figure it out. Life is tough enough and you need to believe in each other enough be able to work things out together. Find someone you really trust and talk to them. Planning a wedding can be stressful. Maybe it's just your dad being ill at the same time, or just the jumble of everything happening together. Having someone help you put it all in perspective can be a big boost sometimes! Good luck!
  19. Wow! Awesome thread!! I so envy all these talented ladies! I am NOT!! As much as I wish i was.... lol I do have one question - where did you source the stadium cups!! I think that's a great idea!! I love your colours. They're gorgeous and your dress, with you in it, is beautiful!!
  20. I just went to the site and found this: Ground shipping within mainland Canada is on us for orders of $50 and up! So yes, I think it's worth taking a look! Good luck!
  21. 7 months is plenty of time!! We did it in 9. We ended up being just the 2 of us too andit all turned out just fine. In some ways that makes it so much easier when you don't have a bunch of other people to consider. You can almost do as you like!
  22. Congrats and welcome to the site! I'm sure you will find other brides that have had their wedding at the resort you're interested in. What about checking out the resort reviews part of the site? I'm not familiar with your resort so I can't say anything about it, but keep playing around with the site and searching for info. Good luck and happy planning!
  23. Congrats and welcome to BDW! I would highly recommend that you search through the forums and do some reading. I can almost guaranteee that whatever you're looking for has already been asked and answered here. Just to to the search bar at the top and type in your resort. There will likely be several forum threads that pop up. You'll find everyone here more than willing to share and happy to pass on their tips and advice so definitely get into readying mode and have fun! Good luck and happy planning!
  24. One suggestion I have is to go onto the internet and check the resort site. Most of them love to have photos posted so you can see the resort. The other thing you could do is talk to your photographer and see what they think. If anything they are probably your best resource for where is a good place. Plus you could also google your resort name+wedding images on the internet and you'd be surprised what you come up with. You can also check the resort reviews here on this site and see if any past brides have given anything in their review. Good luck and happy planning!
