Very pretty! Is this what you want to attach to a sash, or are you trying to make the belt/sash too? Did you try asking a hobby shop what will work to stop it from fraying? Like Michaels maybe? Or google around the internet? There must be something that will work that won't stain. I'm not a DIYer in any way shape or form so I wish I could be more help than that. Good luck! Keep posting the pics so we can see how it's coming!!

I've already decided, and I'm going with Joyce at Dream Weddings. I didn't have a planner for our wedding, but because of circumstances and the fact that it's a vow renewal and I want much smaller scale, Joyce has provided some fabulous suggestions, almost all of which I'm going to take. We just have one thing to get through over the next couple of months first, then I will be able to get moving on everything!! If anyone isn't sure, definitely email Joyce, and if she thinks she can help you out, she will definitely let you know!!

Negative Comments About Your Resort
acw271011 replied to Sara1603's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
ha ha not a problem! But I like the fact too that your sister had her wedding there and you chose it too. I will be honest, I haven't heard great reviews so it definitely worries me a little. Hearing good stuff from someone else is reassuring. -
Negative Comments About Your Resort

I agree. And I think basically that's what TAKathy was saying too. It's just so nice to see the point from a TA and I think what she said is a good way to balance out your thinking. Some good advice! I haven't finalized my resort choice yet. Getting close but every time I think I've decided, I find something that i don't like. I've looked at GSP - it's one of the ones I'm looking at but I would really like to be closer to Playa del Carmen so just not sure at this point. Cost is a big factor too!! -

What a comprehensive and fabulous response to the question!! Thank you!! I love seeing informed, responsive answers back like this!! Well done!! -
Congrats and welcome to the site! I would definitely recommend that if you don't already have a travel agent, that you get one and talk to them. They generally have visited properties and can advise what their impressions are, as well as feedback from brides that they've dealt with in the past. I don't know if you're in the US or Canada, but the owners of this site - Wright Travel are destination wedding specialists, and the administrator of this site Tammy is a Cabo bride. I'm sure you could get some insight from them as to which resort would best serve your needs. The other thing you could do is check out the resort reviews here and see what past brides have said about their experience at each resort, both good and bad. Plus there are also the individual forums for each resort that I'm sure you could get feedback with questions that will help you make a decision. Good luck and happy planning!!

@@TAkathy is right from everything that I looked into, and it's one of the reasons we got married in Jamaica. No translation and very easy documentation but that was for us to get married there. If you're already married and just doing a symbolic ceremony, there isn't any documents that I've ever heard of. It doesn't matter to them if they perform a marriage ceremony for you and you aren't really married. It's not legally binding so there is nothing anyone can do. You could either do your legal part before you go or after you return. From what I've seen of the brides here, they all seem in favour of doing it before going.

Can Not Choose A Dress!

Very nice!!! It looks great!! Now which one is this? -
I totally agree with the not saying anything. I would instead put the bug in family's ear that you are requesting no gifts and just have them spread the word when asked. If anyone does ask you directly, then that's when you could say "we very much appreciate that you're going to be joining us in XXX (wherever your wedding is) and that you're spending the money to be with us for this important time in our lives. For that reason, as much as we appreciate you asking, we're asking that no gifts be given".

The Fi Chose A Sax Player Help!
acw271011 replied to BusyBee280's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
Wow that's a tough one. Can't say that I'm a sax fan at all so I can't be of any help. Good luck though. I would think maybe you would have to find out if you want more of a jaz feel, or just modern. I'm sure there is someone here that will have some tips!- 1 reply

You design them yourself. http://www.evermine.com/ Here's the site I found for sashes. I find the prices really great!! I did ask about Wright doing arrangements for canadians and I was told that they can, but don't have the same access to the charter companies the way they do for the resorts through the US. Generally canadians go on all inclusive packages, which are much less common in the US. They're becoming much more popular from what I can see, but years ago my husband and I couldn't believe the number of US travellers that weren't on all inclusives. There are different TAs that I've seen recommended here. The one that @@kmk2016 mentioned seems to be catching on for a few people so I think worth a look. There are others that have had success with other agents so it seems to be a matter of preference. I used Marlin Travel when I got married but am doing preliminary info through Tripcentral. I would suggest talking to a couple of them and see what kind of vibe you get and what works for you. Good luck!

Yes - I know quite a few people that do that. We're lucky that my step son lives in PA, so we just ship stuff there and pick it up when we go to see the grandsons. Who are you looking at for chair sashes and cloths? I've found 2 sites that I like. For your maracas, are you having them tagged? If not, let me know. i have a site for raffia ribbon that comes in a TON of colours and also a place that does the little tags to attach to them. I bought maracas from a bride on here already and they're at home. I only got 10 and that I think will be our max so I'm good there. Plus I got her wrist coils for the key card holder. I've done designs for survival kits, and holder cards plus luggage tags but I just can't move ahead with anything right now in terms of printing. I would love to do boarding pass invites, but I'll probably play around with designing those once I'm home and trying to get back on my fee. I'm off for between 6 and 8 weeks with no complications so I figure that will give me time to play on the computer!! lol The other thing too, check Costco online in the US. It might have been a US bride that posted about the price in Costco for a 3 pack, and I'm sure she mentioned $7. Might be worth a look. We use Sams Club instead in the US. We just find their pricing is better, and their membership is only $40 for both of us, 2 cards. I so love the way you think!!! lol I hate it when sales call my name.......

I would definitely get onto it since your wedding is later this year. It's generally a summer item that they carry so once summer and patio weather is gone, you may have a tough time getting them. Not sure how many you need, but there is also Walmart and I've heard Costco, too. Walmart they're almost $5 each, that's the only kicker. I heard Costco had a 3 pack but I don't remember is that was the US or here. You're in Toronto - you could always take a quick boot across the border. You know you can order things from Walmart and have them delivered "in store" then go and pick them up. There is a huge one right in Niagara Falls, and their tumblers are cheaper there, I think $3.96 each. You are still allowed small amounts for a day trip that they won't nail you for at the border. We've brought back groceries of around $100 and they've waved us right through. It's worth playing around on the internet to see what you can find.

Fiance's Father Not Coming To Our Wedding!
acw271011 replied to NJBride2014's topic in Just venting or funnies
Destination weddings I think are one of the hardest things to both arrange, and to put on people. I know it's hard for people sometimes to think about the money factor and other obligations. I don't regret getting married in Jamaica at all. We loved every second of it, and I would do it over again the same way if I had to, but when everyone that we invited to the wedding ended up showing up for our AHR, I sort of questioned whether we maybe should have just done everything at home in the first place. The thing is, when our plans all went to heck, we did start looking at doing it all at home, just to please everyone else. But the costs were horrendous! It looked like it was going to be something really easy and small, but it escalated very, very quickly and my hubs said absolutely not! It felt like the fact that we were having an AHR gave people that were unsure the final excuse to say no to Jamaica. In the end, like I keep saying it was hubby and I in front of the blue water in a gazebo on a beach in Jamaica. What more could you ask for? And our AHR ended up being a whole lot cheaper because we were able to do it in a different way than a wedding and reception and save money. We had a great time, people still talk about it, and we still did get to celebrate with family and friends. I'm not sure yet how our vow renewal will work out. Because of our circumstances over the last year and a half, everyone knows the reason for the vow renewal and a few have said oh yes absolutely. I'm not holding my breath. These are people that my husband called to the hospital because it wasn't guaranteed that I was going to make it through. I believe their intentions are good but after what happened with our wedding, I just don't have enough faith that it matters to other people the way it matters to us. It's the reality of life sometimes. I want to celebrate the fact that I can still wake up beside my husband every day and right now that's all that's important. Will we have people to celebrate with us? I don't know for sure. I hope so but we'll just have to wait and see. -
Secrets 2:00 Wedding April '15 Questions
acw271011 replied to EricaNick2015's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I got married in Jamaica at 1:00 pm, and the same thing happened to me when it came to booking my time. Long story short, I was disappointed too, but it was go or no go, and no go wasn't an option after all our plans fell apart. We were just the two of us though so we were pretty wide open since we didn't have anyone else's schedule to worry about. The ceremony is pretty short. They had champagne waiting for us right after plus there were some pics done in front of the gazebo where we had our ceremony. Then we did a first dance right there since music was all set up. We had a videographer too and we wanted to catch the dance bit on video so we went ahead and did it. Again, wasn't my first choice but you have to just roll with things sometimes. We did some pics around the resort afterwards, then we had a spot picked out at a park about 20 mins from the resort that we went to for most of our pics. By the time we got back to the resort we did a couple of sunset photos, then right in to dinner at 6. Our photographer had dinner with us and we just took our time with it. We left about 8. We went back to our room to freshen up, then back down to the lobby piano bar and just hung out there. Since you have guests it will probably be easier for you to get through until dinner. Between pics and your cocktail time you should be able to knock off a good part of the time. It's not ideal, but talk to your photographer about the timing and see wha they suggest. Good luck! -
Destinationweddings.com And Room Block Contracts
acw271011 replied to Sabes44's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Gee that sucks! That's truthfully the first time I've heard of that. Maybe it's because others have actually done the deposits so they haven't mentioned anything about a 30 day deadline. At least here in canada they'll generally give you a good 90 days if not more for booking. Hope you get it all worked out!! Good luck and happy planning!! I hope too that you'll be able to get future help from Wright Travel!!
