Ladies - I would really caution about posting things that will cause a panic.. A couple of the brides are being very proactive for you and posting news articles and links for you to look at. I understand it is concerning particularly for anyone pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Be an informed bride! Don't sit back and expect someone else to do the work for you. Find something informative like the links posted here and post it on your wedding website or your wedding Facebook page. Allow your guests to be well informed too!! I'm hearing that as yet the virus has not be found in certain countries in a level high enough to be a concern and the countries where the level is high are countries where healthcare is not readily available. Be aware yes but try not to contribute to panic among your guests. @@tpenner Your wedding isn't until December. I'm hearing there is an expectation that a vaccine could be available by the end of the year. I wouldn't be concerned at this point but again - be an informed bride and allow your guests to be informed too!! Read whatever you can and stay current with developments. The travel industry is not about to lose a ton of money over this and the countries that depend on the travel dollars will be doing everything they can as well. @@snswedding2016 and @@deecol Thanks ladies! Let logic and proper information prevail!! Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk

I'm in for sure!! Not a sickie this time!! yay! I can also bring my iphone with the dj app. We used it for both our ceremony and our dinner. In fact we had it in 3 places I think - my ipad, my iphone and Doug's tablet and he uses a Galaxy S4. It worked perfectly!! I'll probably be there around 5:15. I'm right at Scotia Plaza and finish at 5 so it's just a short walk. That's too bad about @@diadiamond not being able to make it!

Looking For Feedback On My Flowers
acw271011 replied to 2ndTimeMrs's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I think they're gorgeous!!! Love the coral colour! Definitely something you'll be able to keep afterwards!! You did a beautiful job!! Oh and just as an FYI and for any other Canadian brides, you CAN bring back your bouquet. I've done it twice. Customs says it's because they're cut and wrapped flowers, not plants. When we came back from Mexico in October the customs officer told us they get asked all the time and in fact there was someone ahead of us in line for the exact same thing.- 12 replies

Seawind Beach Club Questions
acw271011 replied to 2ndTimeMrs's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
@@2ndTimeMrs I found this link searching around. There's a phone number which might help. Doesn't say anything about beach dinners, but if you can call at least you can ask. http://www.jamaicatourist.net/island_adventures/page2/seawind_16/ Then I found this one. Different phone number so not sure about that, but it looks to be the same place. http://coming-to-jamaica.com/?p=930- 3 replies

Your photos are always gorgeous!! @KitCat Congrats on your engagement and planning a destination wedding! Unfortunately I completely agree with the other comments. I don't see how you would get a guest rate of $800 even if you were looking at hotel only. My guess would be closer to $1400 or more but that's only a guess. I'm in Ontario so don't know what the rates are from Vancouver to PV. You've picked a nice location though. There are some really nice resorts in the area of Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit. My husband and I have been to PV and really liked it. I know there was an agent here that the ladies had some success with but I haven't seen anything recent about her. Have you checked out the vendor reviews at the top to see what past brides are saying about their agents? I know there are also 2 new canadian agents that have joined this site so you could get in touch with Wright Travel and ask them about the canadian agents. You can contact Wright through this site. They own this site and the owner is also a destination wedding bride. Good luck and happy planning!!

Newbie And Confused On Destination Venue!
acw271011 replied to FutureMrsRescueRiley's topic in Newbies!!
@@FutureMrsRescueRiley Congrats and welcome to the site! You've come to the right place for information and the brides here are always willing to help! You'll find choosing your resort probably the most difficult part of your planning journey. You're right - there are so many to choose from! The first thing I would say is find yourself a good travel agent. They will become your new bff as you move towards your wedding. A good TA will help you work within your budget, help with what you do and don't want and also work with you to keep the price to something affordable for your guests. Every resort has something going for it, but an agent will help you decide what is really important to you. The owners of this site are destination wedding specialists, and I'm sure would be able to help you work through what you're looking for. In fact the owner is also a destination bride. You can contact them through this site: http://wrighttravelagency.com/inquiry/ The other thing I would recommend is making a budget so that you know what you have to work with. You'll get lots of recommendations on resorts here, but it will depend on what you want. Not every resort works for every bride. Good luck and happy planning! -
@AmandaU Congrats and welcome! You've picked two beautiful resorts! Both are fairly popular here so if you're looking for info, it should be easy to find by searching in the search bar up top. Good luck and happy planning!!

@@vancouverpetunia I think you should stick with that belt! lol It looks beautiful! LOVE the shoes!! They'll be perfect! I don't think the colour will be any kind of an issue. If anything a slight difference in the shade will set off both really nicely!! A hairband will be so pretty, especially if you get it with bling!! lol

@@vancouverpetunia Oh Erin! It's beautiful!!! I really love it!!! It looks gorgeous on you!!!! I think it will be perfect for your wedding!! You're right - it fits perfectly and it definitely needs a belt!! Are you adding that one, or looking for a different one? That one looks great with it!! What are you putting on/in your hair? A veil or something else? A veil would look pretty (imo lol) but a birdcage would be gorgeous!!! lol And your lace shoes.... perfect!!! (if that's still the ones lol)

@@vancouverpetunia ok catching up.... I can't believe I've missed so much!! Countdown is on!! I love your dress design!! It's so pretty and will be wonderful for an April Mexico wedding!! The lace is gorgeous!!! Can't wait to see it complete!! Those hair and makeup styles are beautiful! I do really like the last one - can you do any kind of trial either before you go or once there to see how the curls "curl up" and how long they last? Even without humidity you might get an idea of how well they want to "stay" and then see from there? I love the girls dresses and the colour will totally pop! I haven't heard of parent gifts but we did photobooks and both sets loved them, plus we bought actual small albums and had 200 prints made and set up a full album for my dad and Dougs parents. They all enjoyed them. I know what you said about BM jewellery it what about going with something like that "just for the wedding" like pearls? With only 2 you could get something a little nicer maybe and it's something that can always be worn again. Just a thought.... Or shoes as Kim suggested. I like that idea too. I like your legal ceremony plan. Sounds very sweet and romantic and..... Simple!! Your to do lists are totally doable and I agree with Dee - you're so together with everything and so calm!! My vote with the bachelorette and shower - if people want to be happy for you, go for it! Enjoy it!! As to who to invite I like the idea of everyone so that everyone gets to know each other!! So if the guys get a golf day what do the ladies get?? It really should be fair you know... lol You've got this Erin! You know exactly what you want and you're completely organized! Not long to go!! Very much Looking forward to hearing all about it and seeing pics!!! If you can go check out the GTA Brides Meet up thread. Something interesting possible happening.....

Ahhhhhh !! Wow!! Ladies do you think this might actually come together????? This is so totally cool!! So I've had umm "some" wine.... so I'll take a stab at this. @@calgarybride2015 @@TinkerSofi @@Meandhim @@ashhtayy @ @@deecol @@snswedding2016 ........ I know I'm forgetting people. I would absolutely be up for Cancun for same reason as Kim - I've never been. Sunset Princess would be great too since they have the adults only section if someone didn't want adults only. RIU is also good and I like what Sofia said about Karismas so we'd be up for almost anything. Doug and I were talking on the way to Niagara about it and first words out of his mouth were "adults only right?" lmao that's my husband. He got spoiled at VIM!! I would also absolutely go back to Playa del Carmen and there are good clubs there for night life including Coco Bongo. @@TinkerSofi has a great idea with a FB group. I don't mind setting one up tomorrow when we're back home unless someone else wants to do it before then. And I'm with Kim on pricing. Doug and I have been spoiled with travel over the years for good deals so not sure if we could stay around $1600 p/p from Toronto? We're definitely foodies too so somewhere that is well rated for food would be up our alley. Any thoughts on a travel agent?? Dare to give the newbies on this site a try and see what they come up with? Or does anyone have a preference for someone? Not sure if we would get January 2017 pricing yet or not? We're off for dinner and.... You guessed it - more wine! lol Our room has this massive jacuzzi tub...... hmmm. Had some beautiful wines today. I would highly recommend the Niagara icewine festival if you can get there. Tomorrow and next weekend are last chances but well worth it.

lol yeah I think I'm starting to get the same feeling! lol
-
@perianjay Oh I'm going to take a look at that!! The hard part is trying to get a handle on price points. But I'm going to check it out. Babies!! Omg I never even thought about that..... lmao Just shows you where my head is at with kids! lol Doug and I have done all that and have second generation with our grandkids, so it didn't even enter my mind!! As much as I would be happy for all of you, it would totally suck if you couldn't make it!!! lol
-
@snswedding2016 Yeah Steph - I agree!! Doug would laugh until he died!! lol There are a lot of nice adults only resorts if everyone decides on that. I'm sure we could find something that would work for anyone that wants to go. The more I think about it.... January next year is a good bet. The big question would also be the where? Cancun? Playa? Coba/Tulum area? or in between? Well.... let's see what the ladies say next Friday.

Deecol's Planning Thread - Gbp - April 30Th, 2016
acw271011 replied to deecol's topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
@deecol LOVE the bouquet! You totally rocked it with those little flowers, and the bout too!! They'll be gorgeous in your photos!! (hope the tea was tetley, or something else as good! not the horrible stuff you buy here!) Yay to double digits!! @calgarybride2015 I agree!! @ needs to keep her Pandora obsession!! There are just oo many cute beads and charms to put on the bracelets! Plus now I think I need to investigate rose gold.... -
@ @@snswedding2016. I've heard of it obviously but don't know anything about it. Do you know who flies there? Should I be afraid to look at the price point??? lol OMG!!!! Do you ladies know what you're asking??? lmao Uhhh there is NO WAY I could get Doug to spend that kind of money!! lol I found it for about $4500 per person!!! Do you think we could find somewhere a little cheaper? Oh and I can't even get anything for January next year to come up yet.... which is what I expected.
-
Well... Let's see what comes back in terms of ideas and suggestions...... January would be good for us too. Give us the chance to save up as well.
-
@snswedding @ I would totally be up for this and I could convince Doug. Tropical? Without question!!!! lol I'm thinking since so many of us have experience with Mexico that's good... Mexico would be a good choice, unless it's a decision to go somewhere different. Second thing I'm thinking is that we aim for a winter getaway. That gives all our new brides time to save up. Deposits only type deal and pay it off as you can. If we did it for say a year from now, that gives us ample time to get gritty with the details. What about asking the new TAs here to work it out for us? They're canadian so would know the scoop. Would anyone else be up for an adults only? Or do you think we could make it as an option or something? Perian - what in earth did you do to your back???

I was thinking of Rebecca but I don't know if she even checks the messages anymore. I decided to post this here instead of in Perian's thread so that we don't end up hijacking it completely. An idea was thrown out earlier today that was totally goofy.... but a couple of the ladies have already said they would be onboard. So...... I thought hey - why not play around with it a bit and see what shakes out? See what suggestions get thrown out there. A BDW trip... Away. As a group. Girls only?? Couples?? With enough planning, and far enough in advance it's doable. With all the experience we have with planning, we could absolutely do this!! We know enough travel agents. Have all been enough places. Planned far enough ahead, we do just like a wedding - we put it together as a group trip. We could look at getting a decent rate with enough rooms booked. We all know how good Transat is.... we could ALL book Options Plus!!! Get the onboard bonus.... extra booze!! So???? Thoughts??

I have some news. I went back to work this week! Yay me!!! So I'll be able to be at Joe Badali's by about 5:15. I'm right at Scotia Plaza so it's about a 5 to 10 minute walk, and where I'm working - NO OVERTIME!!!!! Woohoo! it's a temp contract until the end of February but I was told today it may go longer, which is ok by me. Beats EI. But it's only unless or until a permanent position comes up. I'm missing benefits and all the other good stuff but right now I'll take it!! See you all next Friday!
