  1. This is what really sucks. We won't be more than 6 or 8 so no special rates for us, plus it looks like a couple will be from the UK which of course won't count either! lol @@Petra The girls are all correct! A travel agent will help you get perks that you won't get working websites on your own. Of course things depend on your numbers, and of course they try to gear it to the largest number possible, but it's still worth getting a TA that you're comfortable with and works well with what you want. Good luck!
  2. Glad that things are coming together! As much as it seems so difficult when things go so wrong, sometimes a deep breath and a good cry will help put a different perspective on things! That and a little whisper to the man upstairs. I'm a firm believer if it's meant to be, love and family will find a way! Good luck! Where is your wedding going to be now?
  3. Oh the second one is pretty too! is there already a comb in either one and does the second one work on a half up half down? they're both really pretty!!
  4. Do you have any other pics of how the hair piece can be worn in other ways or clearer pics of how you wore it? Thanks!
  5. Sorry ladies. I'm old and old fashioned. If you're going to invite someone to a wedding I think you have to make the allowance for them to bring a guest. Unless you know absolutely for certain there is no chance of that person having a partner of some kind to bring then assume they will and count them in. And if you have to exclude the +1 from wedding activities, then don't invite them. we just went through that with a friend's daughter in the summer. my sister was invited but told she couldn't bring the guy she is seeing because the numbers were too tight for the location. justifiably, my sister refused to go. I agree with Calgary bride. You aren't going to invite a flavour of the week on a week long vacation trip with you (well actually there are people that would) but even if it has only been a month for the couple, you have to provide the option. I know many things have changed over the years but etiquette and good manners never go out of style!
  6. I hear you on that! lol but you're right - it's a really pretty dress! I can see the pics, thanks. I was just trying to get a good look at the hair piece and was having a bit of a hard time figuring out the shape of it and the different ways you can wear it even though I zoomed on the photo. I really like it, but just not sure it's what I want. I love the sparkle!
  7. Hi I was just wondering about the hair piece and details on the veil and asking prices as well. Thanks.
  8. Getting an exact match might be a bit difficult only because die lots can have variations. But yes, check with the store where you purchased the dresses and see if there is a men's store they work with. I know David's Bridal does a match system and so does Dessy with several dress designers. You could always check both of those online and see what you come up with. Good luck!
  9. Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry to hear you're going through all of this. What a horrible thing to have happen so close to your big day. And yes, you're fortunate to have family in Jamaica that can help you, but you're absolutely not being a spoiled brat. This is an important time and of course you want to be in control of the situation! Deep breath! TAKathy is right. It will come together. It might be a little bit of work (what wedding isn't!) but it will work out. What about the travel agent you used to book? Could they also be of any help trying to contact properties to see who has what? Again, I agree that more than one person needs to be involved, if only for your own peace of mind! Good luck and definitely let us know how you're getting on!
  10. scratch that. this isn't the site. sorry Hey Kristy - can you post the link? I've been looking and can't find what you posted. If you know the one Kristy is talking about, could you post a link? I looked at a couple of sites and can't seem to find the right one.
  11. I found it. Here's the link. https://www.etsy.com/shop/herecomesthebride?ref=shop_sugg
  12. @@Icis Just thought I would let you know that we got to the winery that you were talking about - Paletine and we enjoyed the visit. There wasn't a lot there that we would really love to drink - except the icewine! lol It was delicious! I wanted to buy a bottle but my husband said we have to drink some of what we have here first! lol I told the lady there that it was someone in BC that recommended the icewine and she thought that was great! lol We also went to Diamond which sells Dan Akroyd's wines, which by the way we didn't like! lol I'm only allowed a maximum of 2 drinks, whether its a drink, a beer or a glass of wine, it's two and done and since we were going out for dinner to FINALLY celebrate our anniversary, I only did two tastings. One at Paletine and one at Diamond. I'm hoping we'll do the icewine festival again in January so we'll add Paletine to the list this time and hopefully pick up a bottle of theirs this time. We're having Xmas with my in-laws in New Brunswick so will be taking a bunch of wine with us. They love wine! That might be my excuse to pick up a bottle in January to replace what we used! lol
  13. lol People seem to forget nowdays maybe because couples live together so much before they get married. You have to keep the magic. It's too bad someone saw fit to complain after a vacation in Mexico but you can't please everyone all the time.
  14. The other thing you have to remember is that you spent so much time planning..... and now it's done. It's such a build up for really what amounts to a short period of time in spite of being in a fabulous resort. It's a bit of a let down once it's all done! lol I know that sounds silly but think about all the time you've spent planning everything. Weddings have a way of taking over your life in the planning stage and then boom. You're a newlywed. It's a magical moment and then you're an ordinary person again. And if you've been living together for any length of time.... We got home from Jamaica and thankfully had our AHR to plan but seriously - we got home and sort of sat and looked at each other and asked what now? lol Stupid I know. The one thing we made sure when we got home was that we kept the "newlywed" even at our age and even being together as long as we have. I wouldn't worry too much about what happened during your wedding week. I still wonder if I spent enough time with our guests at our reception and people still talk about how much fun it was. Have some fun being married! You're a newly wed! Enjoy being with the man you love!
  15. I'm looking forward to reading your review when you come back! I've been back and forth a dozen times on resorts for us for next year and I did have RPRM but took it off. We're doing our ceremony off site so I'm not really worried about the packages or anything like that. I'm more concerned with the actual resort and I definitely want to try and be close to Playa del Carmen if we can.
  16. I promise you won't fall on your face!! Definitely getting your dress done is a biggie off the list! I had mine hemmed for 2 different pairs of shoes. I wore heels for the ceremony and then about an hour after but my knees hate heels so I switched to flip flops. I didn't want my dress to drag though so I ended up with wedge flip flops! Lol solved the problem! You'll be fine and it will all be wonderful!
  17. Just an FYI but Vistaprint has been hounding me with emails like crazy, and they supposedly have "black friday" deals, or at least that's what they're calling them. Michaels I think has some good deals too but you can check out the site www.blackfriday.com if you haven't already and check out the flyers. See who has what that might be of interest to you.
  18. Nice to see you back and happy that you finally have been able to put plans together! How exciting! You've picked a nice time of the year too! It looks like we're going to be able to go ahead with our renewal next October so I guess I'll have some planning to start after the holidays. Glad everything worked out for you!
  19. I've had to backtrack through your thread just to catch up on what I missed while I was off, and being back at work now I'm having a tough time getting back into it all. You have done such a fabulous job of everything. It's just unbelievable! If you ever decide you need a career change, you definitely have the talent to get yourself into this business! Only a couple of weeks to go now, lucky girl! I really can't wait to see your photos when you get back! It's all going to be wonderful and I really want to see how it all comes together!
  20. Hope you had a wonderful wedding day and that it was all you dreamed!
  21. Wow! I can't think of anything else to say except beautiful! And what is that awesome song that plays with your video??
  22. I had two quotes - one was $300 and the other was I think $240 so the quote you got is actually pretty good. I was told if there is beading, crystals, etc. that's where the work is in getting it cleaned, since they don't want everything to come off.
  23. Congrats on being a Jamaica bride! I was married 3 years ago in Runaway Bay at a different resort but I found this link here for the resort you're looking at. It will give you something to read. Jamaica is a beautiful place to get married and all of the resorts have something a little different to offer. If you've already decided on Sandals that's half the battle. Hopefully you have a good travel agent that is helping you as well! We were both married before so needed our divorce agreements notarized as well as birth certificates. We just went into the lawyer that handled my divorce and he notarized the necessary copies. The resort we got married at allowed us to pdf the notarized documents to them and bring the actual documents with us, but from my time spent on this site, that isn't true for everywhere so be sure to check with your resort to get their requirements. The notarized copies are what stay in Jamaica with the Registrar so you definitely will need to get it done. A lawyer will know exactly what to do. I saw something mentioned in this link about the photography packages so have a read through and see what you get from it. I'm sure there are other Sandals brides here (either past or present) but take a look through the resort reviews and see what has been said. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/65925-april-2013-sandals-grande-riviera-ocho-rios-jamaica/ Good luck and happy planning!
  24. I can really sympathize with everyone going through this, and I wish I had some wise words. We lost our entire wedding and ended up going to Jamaica just the two of us. Not quite what we planned but we got married in a beautiful setting and that's what counted. We had a great AHR 2 weeks after we got home, again not what we wanted, but people still talk about our reception so that's a good thing. I hope everything works out for everyone that is dealing with this! Good luck!
  25. I love the colour! I didn't even know pomegranate existed! lol but I really like it!
