  1. Love Vistaprint! I've done a bunch of things through them and everything turned out great!
  2. Congrats and welcome! You've already had the best possible advice and that's to get a great DW travel agent. They will become your best buddy as you go through your planning adventure! There are a number of resorts here so it wouldn't be right to recommend one just because it might not fit with what you want, and what you want for your wedding as well as for your guests. That's where the travel agent comes in. There is an agent that several ladies here have been working with that is based out west and they seem to really like her. Her name is Laurielee Rosser and here is her contact info: TierOne Travel #303-37 Richard Way SE Calgary, AB T3E 7M8 Ph: 403-509-9337 Toll Free: 1-866-509-9337 www.laurielee.ca Good luck and happy planning!
  3. Better do it quick! Target announced today they're getting out of canada. Creditor protection and the stores are all closing. 17,600 people out of a job. I didn't like them here - I prefer the US, but it's too bad.
  4. But what about her room? If it's based on double occupancy, will they let her stay alone in the room without paying the extra? I'm sure everything is going to be fabulous and I can't WAIT to see your pics and hear all about it!!!! I'm up to my neck in year end right now so this week has been total crap but in case I get too busy tomorrow, have a wonderful time. With all of your planning and the beautiful things you've put together, it will be gorgeous!
  5. Hi ladies. Well - I think we've almost made our decision on a resort. It's between Azul Fives and Paradisus La Perla with Ocean Maya Royale thrown in at the tail end in case things don't work out. My big question is have any of you ladies been told that you can't book your date without giving them the name of your travel agent, and whether or not your trip is booked? I just find that a bit odd. We're going to be a really and I mean REALLY small group, likely no more than 6, absolutely max of 10 and that includes hubby and I but 6 is more likely the number which means no group rate for us. I talked to our travel agent that we use and she said that since we don't qualify for a rate not to even think about booking right now. She said the prices to book for October are really overinflated at the moment so just to hold off. But when I tried to get the info from Fives they wanted to know if our trip was booked and who our agent is. If they're going to force the issue, it will be a deal breaker for sure. The price will likely come down about $500 between now and when we plan to book but I want my date guaranteed.
  6. omg No way! Wow. So is your sister still going alone even if he can't? You're fine on numbers though right? Does it really mess anything up for you? I've had that happen and I was reimbursed but I was totally PO'd believe me. So was Doug. Vacations are too important to be forced to miss them. So are you over the moon excited yet????? What time do you leave??
  7. Oh I like that!!! Geez - that would work just on a regular basis never mind in a wedding dress. Think I'm going to investigate that. How do you find the fit compared to the size chart? Are they pretty true, or small/big to size? @@kcole123 Hey Kristy - I think this might do the trick for you just from what you said.
  8. You're definitely in the right place! The owner of this site is a Dreams Cabo bride! Cabo is gorgeous - my husband and I love it there. Here is the connection to several of the forums for this resort. Also take a look at the resort reviews and see what past brides have said. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/118-dreams-los-cabos-weddings/ Good luck and happy planning!
  9. This is cool. It will definitely work in our favour for flying. No losing time when we come home!
  10. Four years ago we also used mywedding.com It was super easy and easy for people to get to and look at. We password protected it and just gave the password to family and friends.
  11. Congrats and welcome! There are a few OGX brides here. Just do a search up top and the various forums will come up. Spend some time reading through them. Highly likely that whatever questions you have, someone else has also asked them and will be able to help with some answers. A good travel agent is a must so if you haven't found one yet, Wright Travel that is affiliated with this site are DW specialists and I'm sure could help you out with information. There is a contact form on the site. Good luck and happy planning!
  12. That's absolutely stunning and I wish.... but sadly I haven't been a size 6 in about 20 years. You looked absolutely beautiful wearing it!! Your hair was gorgeous too!
  13. Ouch. I hate that word too. It really is disgusting. lol My hubby used it for the first time ever last weekend. I've never, ever heard him say it and he was referring to some wacky broad not paying attention while she was driving and almost hit us! lol But I was so stunned I hit him!!! lmao Not hard of course, just in the arm. But I told him I didn't care what the circumstance was that I never, ever wanted to hear him use that word every again! lol Sorry - it isn't funny but I'm laughing as I'm typing this! I agree - it's the most vulgar word out there.
  14. OMG you ladies are killing me! lol so OK how come I didn't have any weird dreams before I got married? that's so not fair! Kim it will all be fine. Someone else's entertainment isn't your problem and neither is someone else's passport. hey on earth would you apply in October and wait until 5 days before you leave to follow up? But not your concern! I definitely wish I was going somewhere.... anywhere at this point. It's so freaking cold! I'm ready to quit my job and go sell tshirts on a beach somewhere!
  15. There's a saying out there: the more you make the more you spend but then there are also the filthy rich people ie Bill Gates who got yo be filthy rich by NOT spending money. You will never figure people out so don't waste energy trying! lol
  16. Sorry - I'm at work and can't find what I want. Our internet takes that as banned sites! lol go figure! They don't even have to go up that high. You know how you can get stretch jeans that will make you look a size smaller? Or even dress pants for work that have little panels on the inside that sort of hold you in? You can get undies the same idea. I have 2 different kinds and it just depends on what I'm wearing over the top. I just did a google and walmart has some but like I said, I get a "site blocked" messgage if I try and click on it. Just google tummy control and a bunch of stuff will come up. Then just take a look and see what you think will work for you. Wedding dresses generally have at least 2 layers, or more, unless it's a super slinky style so you shouldn't get anything showing.
  17. I think it's "Rival" but I can look tonight and check if you like. I used it on hubby's shirt just to "clean it up" and it worked fine.
  18. That might be a good idea, but I think anything that fits that tightly might be warm. Will you get the chance to wear it beforehand and break it in? Something like that when new can be uncomfortable unless it can be washed and worn in advance. What about building cups into your dress, then just getting tummy tuck undies instead of the whole one piece? The good lingerie stores should have something, or even your bridal store. Check Vic Secret online or La Senza (Canada?). Even higher end department stores should have stuff like that. And your bridal store should be able to tell you if they can work with your dress to build in cups. I know for some styles it doesn't work well. You're starting to get close on your date too!! Not that much longer!!
  19. Sounds to me like you're pretty well set! I would definitely work with the forum for the resort you're using. NOW Jade is a popular one and there are a couple of forums. Just search at the top here and go through them and see what other brides have done. That's the best way to fit with what you want, or don't want. You could also go through the DIY forums and see if there are suggestions or ideas there that might interest you. Good luck and happy planning!
  20. I bought a portable steamer when we went to Jamaica. Not expensive (Walmart $25) but it worked fine on stuff when I tested it at home before we left. Just handy to have when travelling. As long as you don't put it right up against the fabric - I think it recommends about 8 inches away - something like that should work to take any wrinkles out.
  21. I think that works. Now the ball is in her court. Good luck!
  22. Congrats and welcome to the site! Both of those suggestions are good ones in terms of resorts and both have a ton of information here. Definitely look through the forums for the resorts and read what past brides have had to say. I can almost guarantee that any questions you have, someone else has asked them and the answers are likely here! lol Take a look through the resort reviews too. Everyone is different in terms of what they want, or what they expect but the resort reviews will give you an idea. Definitely a great travel agent is a must as well. Not sure where you are but if the US, there is a fantastic TA affiliated with this site that are DW specialists - Wright Travel. If in Canada, there are different agents that the ladies have recommended. http://www.wrighttravelagency.com/inquiry/ Good luck!
  23. Oh my goodness I feel so sorry for you young ladies going through all of these various aggravations when you're trying to plan such a special day! My opinion has always been that friends should be able to say almost anything to each other, and if this young lady has been a friend of yours for that long, you should definitely be able to talk to her. I would just be up front and tell her that you helped her out by giving her one of your perks, but that unless you can find someone for her to double up with, or unless she is bringing a paying guest with her to make it double occupancy, you don't have the extra cash to shell out for her "solo" room. It's none of her business that you might get a second room credit. That's part of your planning info and not something that you need to share with her, especially if she isn't paying! I say be honest. If you want to be able to use a second room credit in another way, that's your prerogative. Otherwise, be prepared to say nothing and lose the money. As much as we want people with us that mean a lot to us, sometimes you need to take a step back and ask yourself just how far you're willing to go. If you're going to go broke over it, is it that important? Good luck! Not a fun situation to be in!
  24. That's a venue I've had a tough time getting info about too. There isn't a lot on the internet to dig through. Just curious why you changed your venue? Where were you before? There is also Blue Venado that seems to be popular with some of the brides here. Not sure if you looked at that site yet.
