  1. Hi ladies. I posted a link to an article here the other day that I got. It talks about 40 million dollar upgrades. I'll try and find it again, or go back a few postings and you'll see it. Here it is again for anyone that wants to take a look. http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20141030005234/en/Azul-Fives-Hotel-Karisma-Debut-40-Million#.VL3ji_0tHcd
  2. Yay!! It worked!!! It looks awesome!!!!!!! Now keep going.... lol I want to see more details!! I love the threads!
  3. What a gorgeous dress! Sadly I haven't been a size 6 for quite a few years! I'm sure you'll find someone to buy such a beautiful dress!
  4. Depending on what happens, I would take the Wally bag and the bouts and I'm at University and Richmond. I go back and forth between Union Station too.
  5. Ok ladies. A question please. How do you get publisher without paying an arm and a leg for it? I looked at it and they $109.99 Sorry - I don't use it that much but is there another way?? I can't see this file unfortunately.
  6. It's looking like I'll be there at the same time! Our event will be on the 20th, I think on the pier. At least that's the plan if the person from Miami ever gets back to me!
  7. Ladies - I can totally sympathize. Our entire group ended up as a no go and it was just hubby and me in Jamaica. And he was the one that pointed out to me that it was our wedding and that the only two important players were the two of us. It's tough. And yes it hurts. I've said it before - we want everyone to be as happy as we are but guess what - it doesn't happen and that's no reflection on any of us. It is what it is. Be happy that you're getting people going with you and understand how much they love you for going. Understand also that for some people the financial commitment is just too much. Hang in there. It will still be beautiful, I promise! Happy planning!
  8. Congrats and welcome! You've definitely given yourself plenty of time to get organized and you'll find tons of ideas and suggestions here from all of the other brides. Definitely a travel agent is a must and the person you spoke to is right in that they can't do the UK end of things from here. Have your fiance talk to his family members and see if any of them have an agent they would recommend there. Packaging is very similar there as in Canada. The ladies here would recommend several good agents in Canada. you need someone who will look at what you want, your price point and the various packages offered to help you plan and will become your best friend over the next year or so, so definitely someone that you are comfortable with will be important. I'm biased in favour of Mexico so that would be my preference but your agent will help you with all of that. Then take some time to read through the site. The vendor reviews and so on. Good luck and happy planning!
  9. Congrats. The Palace resorts are beautiful resorts and very popular here with brides. Maybe reading through the resort review for Sun Palace might be helpful in terms of what previous brides have thought. As well, you could also try current forums since returning brides will post a review of their experience. Good luck! Be sure to post a review of your own wedding when you come back! It's always helpful for the other brides that are in the middle of their own planning.
  10. Congrats and welcome! What a beautiful spot to get engaged! You've come to the right place for ideas on planning your wedding. Take some time to read through the various forums and vendor and resort reviews. Good luck and happy planning!
  11. Oh Kristy. That is absolutely stunning!! What a gorgeous dress! And it looks absolutely beautiful on you!! I might have already asked this... lol but who is the designer?
  12. @@kmk2016 is absolutely right. Plus too your wedding date is still a long way off and there are lots of people that have no clue what is required for a destination wedding, especially if they see the date so far away. The other thing you need to consider is that immediately after Xmas like that, money is very probably a concern for a lot of people. They may not have available funds right now. It's a tough time of year with the Xmas bills coming in. Is there any way your agent can get a deadline extension for you? And I agree - are you sending full invitations out? Did you add all of the necessary information to your save the date or make sure that people are fully aware of the deadlines and dollar amounts involved? You'll see a lot of notes here from brides having the exact same issue. We want so much for everyone to be as happy as we are but in reality they have their own lives and won't live and breathe wedding the way you will over the next year. Plus for people to actually figure out vacation a year from now is tough. We're only working on vacation for this year. Hang in there. You can figure that from all of the people you've invited, you likely won't get more than 50% attending. Some brides get more than that, others get less.
  13. Since you're in the US, Men's Warehouse does a "destination wedding" suit that you can travel with. When I checked on it last summer, I think the rental is about $200 (don't remember the exact dollars) but then if you're going for a week, it's half again of the cost to keep it for a week. So many US weddings are only a weekend so I would look into the rate for a Friday to Monday deal. If you compare that with buying, you could offer an either or to the bridal party. The alternative is a shirt and pants only in which case there is Tommy Bahama and Island Weddings that do really nice shirts. I know there are brides here that have found things at Macys. My husband when we got married wore light coloured pants from Kohl's that he really liked. They were very lightweight and the perfect colour, then he did his shirt from Tommy Bahama.
  14. There's a fee for the pier??? How much? But there isn't for the Zky Terrace? What's up with that? I can understand for the Sky Deck. That's an awesome location but not on I would be pay $1700 for. Not since it isn't our wedding.
  15. There are no hard and fast rules! lol There have been brides here that have gone shopping a year and a half before their date. It's up to you. If you find something that you love, then go for it. Just talk to the salon wherever you go about keeping it clean for that long. I know if you're getting white, you have to be careful about it going yellow over time, but don't ask me what that time is! Your salon will be able to help you out. Plus, a lot of times dresses take easily 6 months or more before they even come in so you've got plenty of cushion in terms of when your date is!!
  16. Ok ladies. Who can answer a question for me very quickly. What is the charge to have your ceremony on the Zky Terrace. Not the Sky Deck, the other one. It shows both on the info that they sent me. I'm finding out if I pick another ceremony location I can have the time I want but the only thing that i might like is the Zky Terrace. Thanks!!
  17. So very, very sorry to hear this Kim. The absolute MOST important thing is that you feel it's the right decision for you and your boys!! That's all that matters. Nothing else. Not what anyone thinks, or says or does. The fact that there are people hanging in with you tells you just how many people there are that love you. Hold on to that. You will come out on the other side of this, I promise. Everything happens for a reason, and while you may not know what the reason is right away, one day you will find out and understand how much of a right decision you made. AND YOU ABSOLUTELY BETTER STAY HERE!!!!!!!!! YOU CAN'T LEAVE!!! lol I need another canadian moderator to help me keep all these wild canadian brides in check!! lmao
  18. Thanks @AllieH I emailed them back just to check a couple of things. We'll see what they say. She said our date is available but I'm not sure about the time she gave which is 5pm. I think that may be a bit late. I asked about any kind or private something for a really small group but I'm not expecting them to be helpful. All the things I've checked out, resorts are not friendly to really small groups just because they don't make enough money. I already know where I want to go for our dinner off site but I can't do anything until I know the rest will fall into place.
  19. Hello. Will this make a difference to a 5 pm ceremony in October? If I'm making the right calculation, it would mean the sun will set earlier, is that right? Or am I doing the wrong calculation? Thanks!
  20. I think the first thing is to line up a travel agent. With the information they have, they're your best bet to finding what you want, what works with your vision and what will work for your guests. Good luck and happy planning!
  21. hmmm well now I'm confused. So why do you book with Lomas and not the resort? The email is from someone in Florida but the email tag says Karisma. I have to admit I'm a little blown away by some of the costs. I'm not interested in the whole thing. The thing is we're already married. It's a vow renewal, not our wedding so I'm absolutely not prepared to fork out thousands and thousands, especially for the small number that we'll be. We already did that. What I fell in love with was the pier and I thought just the ceremony, then we're going off site for dinner. I don't want to be kicked out of a resort restaurant after an hour and a half the way they all like to pigeon hole you for a small group. We're only going to be probably 6, maybe 10 so I only want somewhere to do a special ceremony but not on a beach. I'm not interested in sand. I've been over and over the resort list trying to find what I want and I thought I had a short list of just 3 finally. But I'm looking at some of the stuff that they sent me by email and I'm thinking nope. So I guess it's back to the drawing board.
