  1. Yep I gotta agree with Kim. Your dress is gorgeous!! And I would absolutely have the back changed for the corset. If it's really hot and you bloat up you'll be uncomfortable. Especially with drinking alcohol. The corset is so much more forgiving, and if you lose another few pounds before August then all you have to do is tie it a little tighter. But at least you have the option and don't have to be worrying. And I'll say it again - PINK shoes all the way!!!!!
  2. The background song from her video is totally sweet too. Love it. Had a job finding it but got it. Really like it so might try to find a way to use it. OMG PINK all the way!!!! darn - why do I have to be the odd one out??? lmao Sorry ladies - the PINK are just too gorgeous for words!!!! With your wedding dress???? PINK!!!!! Totally the pink!!! Ok curious please. How do you find the fit of Nina shoes? Big? Small? Dead on? How high is the heel really? I know they give you a measurement, but with some shoes the heel doesn't feel as high as they say it is. With others, its painful to wear even a low heel. I found 2 pairs that I really like on the website but not sure what size to try. We're going to be in Charleston SC this summer so thought maybe I'd try and get into Nordstrom and try some on to see how the sizing is. Ok. gotta say it again PINK!!!!!! The champagne just gets washed out. And I agree with the tie and flowers. Cmon.... lol wear the PINK!!!
  3. I think you have the right Idea with a 4pm ceremony. I think if you move it to 5 you'll leave yourself short for time for your photos. Even a short ceremony will be 15 to 20 minutes, then you'll have the hugs and kisses after that will take 10 minutes or so. That leaves you just a half hour for pictures, then the sun will be down. I wouldn't think that would be enough time to get all your shots and be down on the beach with a glass of champagne. Just my thinking but absolutely check with your photographer.
  4. Ladies today is the day!! May it be all that you dreamed off and more!! Can't wait for each of you to tell your story when you're back! !
  5. We had planned to have a flower girl. No ring bearer. I got her dress at Davids Bridal.
  6. This might sound cliché but in spite of what I said earlier, in some ways it does get better with time. Maybe because for me it has been since 1973, and because of the age I am now, I can think of my mom a lot more with a smile rather than a tear. I think I'm much more mellow about it now. They say things happen for a reason, but every now and then I still question what the reason was for my mom to be taken at age 41 leaving my dad with 3 kids to raise on his own. Oh my goodness - now I'm making my self tear up! I'm very surprised at the number of you that have also lost their mom. For a long time I really thought it was a unique situation for us, but I realize now that its more common than I realized. Hugs to all of you and even more so to the ladies for whom the loss has been much more recent. Ok - happy thoughts now!! This is a wedding board! You're all getting married (or almost all of you! lol) and moving on to what will hopefully be a wonderfully happy time in your lives! It just goes to show you how resilient we are that we can move forward in spite of such a painful loss and find happiness!! All the best to all of you!!
  7. Ha! Yep! That's it!! I loved it!! It was a gorgeous day and we sat outside on a huge deck and had a drink in the sun. It was great!
  8. @@Wafflesmom You gave me goosebumps. My dad was left with 3 kids to raise too after my mom passed away. My sister and I were older but my brother was only 6. He had a bit of a crisis when he was about 20 years old because he couldn't remember what she looked like anymore. My sister and I copied pictures that we had and made an album for him to keep. My dad never remarried either.
  9. Hope you had a great flight! Really looking forward to seeing pictures and hearing all about it! I know it's going to be wonderful! Relax and enjoy! Oh yeah, and breathe!! All the best!!
  10. Your thread is great! Good start! I look forward to seeing it continue! I have family in Langley. My dad moved west from Ontario with my brother several years after my mom passed away so more than 30 years ago now. He started in Richmond, then on to New Westminster, Surrey and now Langley. He'll be 94 in May bless him lol My son went to Vancouver to work with the Olympics 5 years ago and phoned me after they ended and said he wasn't coming back and could I please send his stuff!! We went out for a quick visit right before I went back to work last fall after being in the hospital and really enjoyed it. My husband used to be out there a lot for business so took me to Steveston for dinner and to a place right downtown where the artists are. Can't remember the name now. Right on the water at the base of a bridge. Anyway, we also tried to get up Grouse Mountain but it was a really foggy day and we figured we wouldn't see anything so that's on the agenda for another visit sometime. Happy planning!
  11. Did your mom have a favourite flower? Another option might be to put a single one of her favourites on the chair. That way no one would sit there and you maybe could make sure someone else sits in the chair beside. I've seen it also where there is one single red rose on the empty chair, which I think is beautiful. I lost my mom when I was 15. Shes been gone over 40 years now. They say it gets easier with time. In some ways it does but for something special like a wedding I think in certain ways it's harder. I love the picture brooch thing too. I had a piece of my mom's jewellery pinned to my bouquet. The memory candle is also a beautiful idea.
  12. Thank you for your post, and welcome to the best destination wedding website. If you would like to advertise your services here, please click on the link below "Advertise on BDW" and someone will get back to you with the information. The site has rules with regards to vendors advertising their services. This is a great site and the Puerto Vallarta area is popular with a lot of brides.
  13. It's cool for me to see this thread back on again! This thread was a ton of help to me!! Especially when our plans all fell apart!!
  14. I got mine on this site too from another bride, and it's already sol when we get back in October!! lol They recycle very well!
  15. Congrats and welcome! I have to say I have no idea where the area is that you're getting married, and I had to look up where it is. Having said that, I did look up vendor reviews on this site - you can do it as well - but found two that seem to have been recommended by other brides that were married in Italy. Keep in mind that firstly I have no idea if they are near where you're going to be, and also they could have changed since they were posted. I can't post links due to restrictions at work so you'll have to copy the links yourself: www.carlocarletti.com www.imag1ne.com (yes that's a one I the website address) The fellow's name is Andy Turner, a Brit that relocated to Umbria. This is an old post so I don't know if it's still current or not. www.wpja.com/wedding-photojournalism/italy/umbria-wedding-photographers.html There were a couple of brides that suggested taking a photographer with you. I don't know if that's an option for you. Definitely use the search bar up top. If it's a question that has been asked on this site in the past, it will come up when you do a search. Good luck and happy planning!
  16. I'm getting a message that the content is unavailable so dont think the link is working.
  17. Hey! Did you decide on a resort yet? What date in October are you? We're renewing our vows October 20th at Grand coral beach club staying at Azul Fives. Happy planning!!
  18. I'm online now and have my coupon. I can't find anything other than black and a white with pink. Navy would be awesome - are they the robes, kimono or cardigans? I'm not certain on black. I found a nice peach/coral colour but nothing in navy. EDIT: Found them and got them ordered in both colours! Worked out great! Thanks ladies!!
