  1. After 110 hours in two weeks, I finally have the chance to stop in here and see what you ladies are up to. We had some news yesterday that is a bit concerning but hoping it works itself out. I was back in the ER a few weeks back. Panic mode thinking it was another blood clot in my lungs. Thankfully it wasn't but it prompted some other tests in two ways. It turns out I have something up with the tendons in my shoulder - calcified something or other so now we're off to see an orthopedic specialist. Family doc says surgery is usually a last resort.... yeah from your lips to God's ears! So we're waiting on that. But the other thing is now an investigation has started for my breathing, which still hasn't gotten much better from last fall. The thinking is that there may be some residual damage to my lungs from what was a second pulmonary embolism so they're looking into pulmonary hypertension. I've been trying to read what it is and my brain is just mush from all of the overtime I've had over the last couple of weeks. The hospital yesterday has moved really fast (surprising) and the first tests are Thursday, the second next Wednesday then the results on the 21st. At this point I'm not even allowing myself to think past the 21st. We'll deal with whatever we have to then. So on that note, I actually got our key card holders started on the weekend. The suggestion from @@Meandhim to put a card on the outside I think worked out pretty well and I tied it on with our colours of ribbon. I know the card will just get tossed so I didn't want to be too fussy about it, but the idea from @@TinkerSofi for photo paper also did the trick. So here they are - a blank and the finished ones. Sorry for the lousy pictures. It's not something I do well! lol I also got the lanterns for the table at the restaurant from IKEA and I got "ocean" scented blue tealights to go inside. Not a big deal but it's sort of fun to pick up little things even though we still have a long way to go yet. Resort Update: So I found a resort that I'm waiting for a reply from our TA about - Platinum Yucatan Princess All Suites Resort. It's a stay at one and play at 3 part of Grand Sunset and Grand Riviera. The reviews are really good and so are the food reviews plus it's adults only. A big plus for us. But most importantly it solves our bed issue and we can all get king sized beds! The price point is better than Azul Fives too. So we'll see what the TA says. I left a message today and hopefully will hear back tomorrow. Right now it's probably a good idea to wait until after the 21st before we book anything but...... see what happens.
  2. Ok - you can't make that kind of statement and not post a pic!! What colour did you go with? You have to show us!!
  3. Wow you ladies have some absolutely beautiful ideas! The flower pics are gorgeous!!! i would definitely look into the pink moscato very carefully. I don't think you're allowed to transport the alcohol into the country. Most countries are pretty tight about that kind of thing. @@Kerrierf - congrats on being a Mrs! I hope the day was everything you wanted it to be!
  4. Now this will sound really cheesy and I'm sorry but what your dad did brought tears to my eyes! lol As a mom of grown kids with grandchildren.... it's hard sometimes to communicate to your kids what events in their lives mean to you. I bawled my eyes out when 2 got married, one of which I actually had NO KLEENEX! And the pictures look horrible because I'm all red eyed and stupid. lol But the thing is what your dad did is exactly the kind of thing I would do!! And yeah my kids would have the same reaction lol
  5. Oh my goodness you ladies always find a way to give me a chuckle. I keep asking Doug if he can walk and chew gum at the same time! If I try to talk to him while he's on the computer, or on his tablet, or even watching tv, I get this look like "what planet did you just drop from and why are you talking to me?" lol He's another one that says I ask to many questions! Hey I'm a law clerk. I went to school to LEARN how to ask questions!! lol @@veryvalentine your weight loss is truly remarkable and as was already said, an inspiration for everyone else. I really wish I could do it sigh...
  6. @@Meandhim I'll get to meet you when you get my dress bag!! lol You'll be so close to your wedding by then!!! Good lord in heaven. Two weeks of overtime and I'm so far behind!!! First of all @@beckys98 what a sweet thing to do!! How cool is that! @calgarybride2015 Now you know why I'm still here!! I love watching everyone go through all of their planning and seeing their reviews after their big day! You ladies become like my own children! lol It's just a fluke after everything Doug and I have been through that we're going to renew our vows and this is where I came back to for ideas and suggestions! @Meandhim Your thread is really coming along nicely! you've pulled so many of your details together already! And I totally agree - you should absolutely do an Etsy store!!! Why the heck not???
  7. Photographer is another biggy so one more thing off the list! it's one I struggled with but ours is done too, thank goodness. Love the thread! And like the other ladies your "how we met" is great so yeah, a DW would be your only option! lol Couldn't see you doing it any other way!!
  8. Those photos are beautiful! what a fantastic job!! I hope you'll post more here when you get them!!
  9. Congrats on being a Mrs! I know of Misha as she was one of the photographers we looked at when we got married but she was a bit out of our price range. I've heard nothing but good things about her and it looks like it's all true since your photos are gorgeous!! That gazebo on the water is really beautiful! Thanks for the review. I know it will help other brides!
  10. that's the one I was thinking of but for the life of me could not remember the name hahA. Thanks! it's the one I'm creeping right now. since Doug asked me to try to bring down the dress cost I'm still in the hunt. they have one of the dresses on my wish list but it still isn't in yet. should be this week. once I find out the pricing I'll decide if I go with it or not. it's something I want off the to do list!!
  11. There is also a site called preownedweddingdresses.com I have no idea if they charge or what they charge but it's very popular. Might be worth a look.
  12. That's so pretty! I love the colour! And the suit is really smart! I love the tie on the left.
  13. Congrats! That's probably the biggest hurdle to get over. Now you can have some fun with your planning!
  14. Former PCOS here. And I have 2 boys, both 33 (they're 10 and a half months apart in age and for 6 weeks every year they're the same age between April 20th and May 27th). I will be honest and say that I did have trouble with the first getting pregnant, but then the second was super quick. I wasn't diagnosed until I was nearly 40. Get lots of information and a doctor that you trust and are comfortable with. I was like you - I would have a cycle every 6 to 9 months. I was put on the pill in my teens to try and settle things down but I had constant yeast infections from being on the pill. You have to remember though I was on the pill back in the 70's so things have changed a lot since then. I don't know if they even knew about PCOS back then. Absolutely being overweight will be a hindrance to getting pregnant as well, and it most definitely is healthier for mom and baby if you're able to get the weight off. If you're weight is a concern now and you gain pregnancy weight it could mean extra health risks for both you and baby. It's good advice from your doctor but maybe not exactly realistic without backing it up with other advice. Absolutely if @calgarybride can get written info for you, that just may put your mind at ease. You're definitely not alone. I think there are more women with this condition than is realized. Good luck and keep us posted.
  15. My keepsake thing is a Scottish horseshoe. I've found two Etsy people that do them. Just trying to decide. I'm waiting on a lot of stuff for another few months. I looked at a couple of the hangers and it's good to know about the wire word ones that they bend. I looked at them. I do like the wooden ones with the writing on them. I got the robes from La Vie En Rose and they're great!! For what ended up being about $15 each, it works for me! lol
  16. Geez. work a few more days overtime and look what I miss! You're really getting it all together! Wow! Another one that I so can't wait to see the pictures!! I know it's going to be gorgeous!! I really like a bunch of your songs too. Think I might snoop a few.....
  17. lol that's a total nay for me! I'm too old to chase after them now! I much prefer the peace and quiet now after raising 4!
  18. @mzcanizales I guarantee you won't find any better recommendations and information than what you were just given! lol This site is great. You've definitely come to the right place. The ladies here are awesome too. I would absolutely go with what @TA Wendy @@TammyWright and @@Victoriabride provided to you. Then take a breath and enjoy your planning!!
  19. Thanks for posting this! Rose Hall was a resort we looked at but ended up being out of our budget. We were married in Jamaica nearly 4 years ago but at the Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica. We loved the island and have tried a couple of times to go back. We'll get there eventually. One of the things we loved about Jamaica was how easy it was to get legally married without a lot of expense and paperwork. Oh and our anniversary date is also October but the 20th. Good luck and happy planning!
  20. Marina is in the US so very probably the rules are different than here. But I didn't know about the "no symbolic first" rule either. We got legally married in Jamaica so it wasn't an issue for us.
  21. @@calgarybride2015 is totally right! I've also looked at a couple of things and discovered that the exact same thing is cheaper in Walmart. Then I got a real shock and went across the border to the US!! I had to buy replacement blades for a cutter. They were 11.99 here at Michaels. I went across the border to Hobby Lobby in Pennsylvania and they were 5.99!!! Now there is no way you can tell me that's just the exchange on the dollar! So there are definitely options depending on where you live. If you're in the US absolutely check out Hobby Lobby. Good deals there for sure!!
  22. That's so pretty!! It looks beautiful on you!!! I was looking second hand too. Still am actually. There really are good deals out there if you take the time to look!! No final decision yet. I was all finished with my dress, or so I thought. Then hubby asked if there was a way to bring the cost down, and the way he asked was so nicely that I couldn't say no. So...... I'm back in the hunt. There is one dress I'm waiting for details on then I'll go from there. Thought it would be by now but the site owner is saying not until about May18th now. That's ok. Lots of time yet.
  23. Oh my goodness! lol In all the time I've been here I think you're the first person to ask this!! And I have to say I have absolutely NO IDEA!!! lol Although I'm sure someone does. That just might be something worth looking into! Let's see what the other ladies have to say. Maybe they're heard of something!
