  1. We're just doing a week - October 18th to 25th but we're already married. This is a renewal celebration and vacation rolled into one and we only have (right now) 4 other people going with us. The resort has been a huge source of frustration. Hoping it gets settled very soon! All the other details are done.... just not where we're staying!!
  2. It's funny because this is something that just never came up for us! Probably because we're old but it was just a given that the day we had our wedding was the day we got married legally, and when it was too complicated in Mexico (namely because of divorce dates) we switched to looking for somewhere that it wasn't so complicated and Jamaica was it. It was super easy and the marriage certificate we have is absolutely beautiful! lol My stepson married a girl from the US. She had to apply for a fiancé visa for him, and when it came through and he moved to the states, they had 90 days to get married. We just thought they would have a wedding and have family there and get married. But they actually got married by a justice of the peace 5 days after he moved which was March but then they didn't do a wedding until the beginning of October. We had a hard time with that and really didn't understand why they didn't just get married when he moved. I have to admit, as an old lady I still don't understand the wedding before then the other wedding but I do know about the requirements for Mexico, which can be a bit daunting. I guess in the end all that matters is that you've married the love of your life!
  3. Take a look at Tygrlilly's thread. She use real touch (Bloom Bridals I think it was) and I don't believe she had any issue at all. She had all of her flowers in the real touch. I bought her bouts and the feel of them is amazing!!
  4. @ that's sweet! I'd love to meet you ladies. Goofy as this sounds, you're like my kids. I love to read how you met your guys, see how your plans are coming together. You all have such different personalities, it's cool to watch you all interact on this site. It makes me sad when you each get married and then don't stay! lol yep, like I said, goofy. The 28th would work great for me since it's not labour day weekend. We're always away that weekend.
  5. Oh I love the veil!!! I love the birdcage too, but I love the full veil. I'm with @ I think they're romantic but that's a good idea to be able to use both!
  6. @@deecol I'd be up for the 28th for sure!! (again, as long as you young ladies don't mind!!)
  7. Congrats on the legal Mrs. Next stop Mexico and step 2! And as you said, the party. Love your photos. Very cute. Hopefully the next part is fun and easy!
  8. I'm going the vows book route but it's too bad you're leaving so soon. Wonder if you might find an Etsy seller that's local or could do an overnight. Also since its a trend what about checking a David's bridal store? They seem to have a bunch of small accessories things right in store. Good luck! And I hope your wedding is everything you want it to be and more! Definitely post pics and give a review when you get back. We love to see pics and reviews always help future brides!!
  9. Hope everything goes exactly as you want it to and that it's all that you dreamed. That's an awesome idea on the wedding band and such a sweet gesture! Great on the flight for getting the extra day. It sucks getting to a resort late at night. The welcome books are too cute and turned out great!! All the best and looking forward to seeing pics when you get back!!
  10. Gorgeous!! Oh my god you looked stunning in your dress! The back is super sexy!! Happy to hear it all went as you hoped and congrats on being a Mrs!! Looking forward to seeing more pics!! Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
  11. I'm thinking this might work for us. Just to clarify, this is the app on my iphone that is $8.99 right? We have a very relaxed schedule. As I said, we're 6 so there's no pressure or anything. I'm debating a first look but haven't confirmed yet with Samuel where we can do that. Because it's so easy, I'm not totally worried about timing. We are going into Playa to Styling Trio's studio for hair and makeup then back to whatever the final resort ends up being, then dressing, then back to Grand Coral for our ceremony and pictures there, then some back in Playa then our cocktails and dinner at a restaurant right in Playa del Carmen. It means there is some travelling in between so plenty of time to set up the music, and if it's just a swipe then I think it should be ok.
  12. @@TinkerSofi Do you see any way that it would "manage itself"? We aren't having a dj - there's 6 of us but I do want the music and have an idea of what the songs are that I want. Does it absolutely have to be managed by someone or is there a way to set it up and let it go through each "party" on its own? I looked at the app but haven't paid for it yet so didn't get very far in terms of looking.
  13. I would absolutely get in touch with the administrators of this site, Wright Travel. They're destination wedding experts and they will work with you on budget and all the other things you're looking for, then help with communicating with guests. Here's a link to get in touch. No harm in asking to see what they can help with but I'm sure you'll get information that you need. https://www.wrighttravelagency.com/leads/inquiry/ Good luck and happy planning!
  14. @beckys98 Congrats! Jamaica weddings are wonderful! Really looking forward to seeing pics when you get back. Do try to slow down and make mental memories. They'll last a lifetime! Fingers crossed for fabulous weather, a good flight and plenty of flavorful Jamaica drinks! And Absolutely do a post-review when you get back. The ideas and reviews are always appreciated by the new brides coming in. All the best!
  15. If you're able to get sizing, Tommy Bahama ships to Canada for a flat rate if you can't find them at the Bay across canada. Generally though, if you gt them at one Bay store, they can arrange for other stores to get the same thing. My husband got his shirt at a Tommy Bahama outlet in Niagara Falls NY and his pants at Kohls. For our renewal he's doing the DW suit from Tuxedo Royale. They have a good rate to keep the rental for a week.
  16. @@racht33 have you done a search on the site for the app info? I know my alzheimers is showing but I'd swear I saw a post about it for an android device, not just iphone. Either that or someone mentioned something if not the same then comparable for the android devices.
  17. The album is beautiful Kristy! What an awesome job! No wonder your mom cried! The pictures are gorgeous!
  18. I want blue shoes! And I'm having a heck of a time finding what I want that fits!
  19. Your photos are gorgeous! Really beautiful! And your dress is stunning! Congrats on being a Mrs! It looks like everything turned out beautifully!
  20. Are you sure she isn't in some way already in breach somehow? I'll have to dig it up but I think our photographer actually put in that they would respond within x amount of time. Double check and take a full read through your contract. I would give it only another couple of days and see if she responds to your email and if she calls your fiance back. Then I would give her an ultimatum that if she doesn't respond within 24 hours that you're going to cancel her services. If you get no response at all from that, then I would be ready to go with another photographer if they're willing to work with your budget. But I would ensure that you leave ample messages for the one not responding (don't know the name) and make sure by email and voice mail that you state that because you've heard nothing from her for x amount of time and in response to your multiple inquiries, messages and emails, and her lack of response, that you're cancelling her services and not to show up for your wedding. But absolutely give her plenty of time to respond and leave a message or email every single day. Then keep track of all the times that you've tried to get in touch with her. The phone calls, emails. And start pulling together the messages you've seen from other brides with the same situation and keep track of it all. if it comes down to it, you'll want lots of proof of trying to get in touch with her and not receiving any response. Good luck!
  21. I was trying to think of the other one I've seen here and it's J. Crew I think, but if I remember correctly when I looked I found them to be expensive.
  22. Wow @@TinkerSofi You've done an incredible job! i love the vows more in Spanish! lol My spanish is not advanced but I can still catch it (I'm a ton better in French). I think if they reflect you, that's much better than having them not sound at all like you! And reading them in Spanish they'll sound better. I always find when I have to worry about translating things that it just never sounds the same. I'm so sorry the resort is being a problem. That's the one thing - I think I got over the disappointment very quickly after trying to deal with them, especially after getting things put together so much easier with someone else. I'm sure your day will be awesome mostly because you've done so much of their work for them. I would fight for the booth if you feel it's worth it. It's just so not fair the way they nickel and dime. The resorts all realize that weddings are big business and that people will pay the money for what they want. Sad reality. Too bad there isn't a way to say "forget it" but they're such beautiful locations for a wedding. It's too bad about the people dropping out. We lost our whole group when we got married so I know how frustrating it is. And yes, when it's close by and the meal is free they do show up. You do end up appreciating the people that make the effort a whole lot more, and I think in some ways a smaller group is more intimate and you do get more time with people.
  23. That's a very well written email, and it definitely approaches what you're going through with her in a non-confrontational, honest way. I really hope for you that she responds and quickly. It's really sad that you've ended up with this situation given that there are wonderful photographers in Jamaica that don't do this to their clients. We had one that was absolutely THE BEST to work with. I can't fault him in any way, and back 4 years ago when we got married, the other girls on the site had other photographers that they were all totally thrilled with. It's so unfortunate. It only takes one to ruin it for others and makes future brides worried about dealing with vendors long distance. Jamaica has a lot of really, really wonderful photographers with fantastic reviews. I sincerely hope yours does turn out to be one of them and that you have a wonderful experience!
  24. I like the website. It turned out great! Your photos are really cute, and the background is beautiful! I don't have any experience with stores in the Calgary area at all. I know there are enough ladies here that do. There are a couple of online sites that the ladies have mentioned. I don't know if they're of any help to you or not. RW & Co. also has a wedding line if you look. Again, I don't know much about them but you could look online and see if there is anything that clicks to you. There are a couple of lines online that might be worth a look to see who the retailers are. There is Dessy and After Six that come to mind off the top. I don't know if that helps you at all or not.
  25. Congrats on your engagement! Your ring is gorgeous! And what a cute story! You're in good company with your resort for sure. @@calgarybride2015 definitely loved it!
