Mariachi Band Recommendation In The Mayan Riviera Area
acw271011 replied to rbehlke's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
@rbehlke I see your at a Riu for your wedding. As @@calgarybride2015 mentioned, the resorts can get quite strict about outside vendors coming onsite. I was just messaging with a former bride and she couldn't have anyone come onto the resort to do her hair/makeup. They had to use the resort spa, which isn't always something some brides want to do. From reading posts here RIU resorts are very strict about bringing in outside vendors. I'm not totally sure if they would hit you with a very high fee, or just forbid it all together. Some resort fees are as high as $1000 per vendor. When you're looking at roughly $75 difference in the possible cost of the resort band as compared to an outside band, a $1000 fee is pretty steep! Good luck! -
Only one I can think of off the top is @veryvalentine Her wedding is tomorrow but I think she mentioned wanting to join. That could be my old age bad memory though.... Not sure about anyone else....
-
It definitely works for me! Hopefully we hear from @@snswedding2016 on the chance of that rooftop on that date. That would be great and sounds like it can accommodate a big group!
-
Oh those are so pretty!! Where did you find them? We don't have anyone standing up with us because we're renewing our vows but the friends that are going with us., I'm doing bags for. My best friend that is doing hair with me and helping me get dressesd I'd like to get something special for. I got robes already but that's it so far. The little bags are a cute idea!! Calgary Brides/ Bridesmaid Dress Nightmare
acw271011 replied to Andrea2015's topic in Canadian Destination Wedding Group
I'm really sorry you're getting put through this so close to your wedding. It wouldn't hurt to contact the better business bureau and file a complaint with them, and also with the newspaper help line. I know there is one here and then there is Goldhawk as well. I really don't think you should have to pay if the store made that much of an error when they measured and ordered the dress. I know there isn't anything you can do about it right now so close to your wedding and you really don't need this added stress at all, but maybe you can see about doing something when you get back. All the best for your wedding and I hope it's everything that you want it to be! -
2015 Iberostar Rose Hall Suite Bride
acw271011 replied to WesnKris's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
@@jnj2102 Not sure when your wedding is, but we used Merrick when we got married 4 years ago and you'll love him! He's so sweet to work with, super responsive when we worked with him and we loved our photos. We went off resort after our ceremony since it was only the 2 of us for photos and glad we did. Different surroundings than just the resort. It all worked out. He stayed and had dinner with us as well, again since we were just two. I'm certain you won't be disappointed with working with him! @beckys98 What a great review! It's nice when the returning brides are completely honest about their experience, good or bad. It gives future brides a clear picture of how things get handled. It does sound like in spite of the little glitches that overall everything worked out great, and that's what's most important! Congrats on being a Mrs. and looking forward to seeing photos. Hopefully the stories about Stacey Clarke don't follow through and you get your pictures soon! -

@@pddcmc Wow - they're absolutely gorgeous! You both look so happy and it really looks like it all came together beautifully! I probably said that before but it really shows in these photos. Thanks for coming back to the site to post the photos so we can see them! Hope married life is great!!! -
if you type in the "Maggie Sottero Reese" into the search bar up top I had a couple of listings come up but I can't paste the link from this computer. I honestly have no idea if they're still available or not, or even if the past bride will respond but it's worth a try. I think there were about 5 in total that were for sale. The other place is www.preownedweddingdresses.com It's a site for new/used wedding dresses. I checked it and there is one available but it's a size 4 but you could set up a dress alert in case one becomes available. The other site I've heard about and had a very short peek at is tradesy.com Again it's worth a try. Good luck!

@@vancouverpetunia The short dress looks gorgeous on you! And if that's what makes YOU happy, that's all that's important!! It was curiosity that made me ask if you knew right out of the gate that you wanted short, or did you try both to see what grabbed you. I still also think you should do both dresses if your budget allows. Have the lace dress for your ceremony then switch to the party dress afterwards! They're both beautiful!

There are so many good ones out there it's hard to make a choice for sure! We're using Samuel Luna. I love his work and it just said something to me when I reviewed his site. I found his prices quite reasonable. I too contacted about 7 or 8 to both look at their site and get their pricing. Absolutely there were a couple that I wished I could have hired but they were out of my budget as well. Could I suggest looking through the vendor reviews on this site? It might help you out a bit reading comments from ladies that have used the various photographers. If you narrow it down to a couple that are within your budget range, I would go back through their websites and look at their work and see if there is something that you connect with in their work. Then contact them. Send messages and explain what you're looking for. I'm sure one will stand out for you at some point that you'll know it's the right choice for you. Good luck!

It's the same at other locations too. I was married in Jamaica and the WCs there don't work on your details until about 3 months out. They just have too many other weddings they're focused on that are closer. It's not the ideal situation for sure, but you can still reach out and try to get questions answered. It just might take a little bit of time. It's not that they'll ignore you - they will eventually respond. Forums like this in the meantime can probably help out with general answers/information enough until you're able to get your details worked out with your WC.

Just as an FYI, tropical storm Bill just went through and made landfall in Galveston Texas yesterday morning. It dumped 10 inches of rain in about 8 hours so it was a storm loaded with rain. That's what you likely got caught in while in Mexico since they usually start in the Gulf if they're going to hit Texas. But it's absolutely something to think about. Hurricane season doesn't usually start until the end of June, and runs until the end of November. But this year has already been warm and the moisture will aid in getting a storm started. My husband and I were married in Jamaica and the people took great pride in telling us that Jamaica almost never gets hit by hurricanes so I don't know if that's a location you would consider. The Yucatan Peninsula is an area that frequently gets hit by storms - that's what has caused the alarm to be raised over beach erosion. Every time a hurricane goes through it takes more of the beaches with it. I totally agree with @calgarybride2015 If the weather is a major concern for you, summer months in Mexico is probably not a great time to plan your wedding. While nothing is ever guaranteed, and the summer months could just as easily be spectacular as rainy, the odds are probably better if you change your date. Good luck!

Dj For Wedding In San Jose November 2015
acw271011 replied to Cooperfluff's topic in Cabo Wedding Vendors
Sorry to hear that you were affected by the hurricane. There were a few ladies here that had that happen to them. But I'm glad you got rebooked and things are going ahead! I looked through the vendor reviews and couldn't find anything for the names you listed, but hopefully one of the ladies here will have some comments that help you out! Good luck!- 1 reply

Neako's Planning Thread - Riviera Maya 2016
acw271011 replied to JoannaBanana's topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
The seaweed is an issue all up and down this year and has been for a few months now, not just from the TS. All of the resorts are battling it from Cancun all the way down to Tulum. They're saying it's something to do with the big oil spill they had in the gulf and that there's an overgrowth from a chemical imbalance in the water. Does any of that make sense??? I'm sorry you weren't able to have a usable beach! That totally sucks!! Would love to hear your impressions of the Hard Rock if you get to see it! -
@snswedding2016 You're so organized!!! Things are really coming together! I like your choice of colours from the david's site even if they aren't actually getting them from there. The way they put the swatches together is just so helpful. That's where I picked my colours from. The Xacaret idea is a good one and I just may look into something like that as well. We're a super small group so no group rates here unfortunately. Doubt they would do anything for 6 people but I still think it would be worth a day trip to go. The robe is adorable!! She's going to feel like a "big girl" like everyone else!

Wow!!! You looked gorgeous!! Who did you have do your hair? It's stunning! Your dress is beautiful! Both of you look great! Can't wait to see more and hear all about it! Oh..... and congrats on being a Mrs!!!
-
@LeighC Love your story so far! Very cute and your ring is gorgeous!! So is the dress!! I like the proposal. As much as I LOVE the guys that go and do it all up in a super big way, I LOVE the laid back, easy, down on one knee in the kitchen ones too. It's just as special. You've made a good resort choice too. April is a very popular wedding month in Mexico!

Any chance you might be daring and have some fun and try on a long dress maybe a little understated and see how you feel in it? There are so many styles and options it might be fun to try something and see how it goes. ..... Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
