@JoannaBanana I have the same issue at work. Can't quote anyone. I just the "@" sign with the user name instead and it works. it has to do with firewall stuff from what I understand. Pain in the backside if you ask me.... lol @yycbride2016 Any luck with the pre-owned wedding dresses site I gave you? I check there every day just to see what's new! And I got a message last night from Jennifer at TLMB and she said my dress is on its way!!!! Now I'm hoping she has kept it in my budget too!!! Fingers crossed for you!!!

My Wedding Oot Gift Bags
acw271011 replied to trbutler's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
You did a great job!! They really look good, and I agree with the other ladies - it's no wonder your guests are still talking about them! The Deal Rack site is super - that's where our bags are from but the one you picked out is super practical! I love the embroidery! For your survival kits - where did you find were the best places for the things you put in them? I know there are websites that the ladies have posted here that sell the travel size of things but just wondered if you had something else to add! Thanks for the post and the pics! Everything turned out great!! @@racht33 If you just search at the top for survival kit you'll get the template. I added the one I put together here as well but you can play around and do almost anything you want to it! SurvivalKit Topper-2.ppt -
Small Wedding

Welcome! Do you have any of the other items in place yet? I think a lot will depend on who is in your group. Of course if you have music and a DJ, that should keep things going. Dancing is always a good way to keep things moving along. You haven't said what any of your other plans are but my suggestion would definitely be music and dancing. -
Congrats and welcome to BDW! This is definitely a great site for details on planning a destination wedding and the brides both past and present are very happy to share their experiences. I can definitely help you with one of the things you're looking for. The administrators of this site are DW specialists and I'm sure would be able to help you out with information. Here is the link to contact them: https://www.wrighttravelagency.com/go/destination-wedding?lp-variation-id=0&title=Planning%20a%20Destination%20Wedding?&source=BDW&creative=WTA%20TB I'm afraid I can't help with resort info but I'm sure one of the TAs at Wright will be able to get you started with information. Good luck and happy planning!

Oh ouch. Yeah - I hear ya. Definitely. Do you ever watch the David Tutera show on tv? Even his website says "affordable" wedding gowns. Maybe. Just not for the average bride. lol But his styles are GORGEOUS!!!!!!! I wish I could afford one! lol Oh well.

@@yycbride2016 All 3 of those are gorgeous and I think you'd be happy with any of the 3 as long as you get to try on the style first before you order!! I sent you a message by the way with some info that might help you out. You said your mom had a good experience with this online site - which one is it? There is a whole thread here too about ordering online so just curious if your online site made it into the thread.

My guess would be something very simple - it cuts into their profits. As sad as it is, the resorts are out to make money. They have preferred suppliers and companies that they recommend. If they have brides trying to get around things by doing something like bringing in their own bouquet, guess what? That cuts into the money making. When we got married 4 years ago in Jamaica, we had our photographer and our video guy. I used the recommended florist but there was another option that some of the brides used. I didn't pay any fees for anything. I've since heard that the resort now charges $800 to bring in a photographer and any other off site vendor. The resort was wonderful and we loved it but some of the reviews I'm reading now just make me shake my head. It's a business and they all want a piece of it. I'm so happy that we're going off site for our renewal. I'm getting to do what I want, with who I want and I'm really happy about that. But i also know if we were a big group it would be a lot harder to do.

Neako's Planning Thread - Riviera Maya 2016
acw271011 replied to JoannaBanana's topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
Sorry to hear your trip wasn't as productive as you'd hoped. In spite of everything, Mexico is still a wonderful place with excellent resorts. We've stayed in a couple of them, and there are definitely good reports here by past brides. But it definitely depends on what you want and don't want. There is always Jamaica but you'll find your price points are different compared to Mexico. We had a wonderful wedding in Jamaica 4 years ago and loved it. I work with a girl that got married last November and did Sandals for her wedding in Negril. She's a bit over the top but her wedding cost her $40,000. I just about fainted when she told me. Her photographer alone was nearly $6,000 (Toronto one and she paid for his trip too). I still think you can do a wedding in Jamaica for fairly reasonable, again depending on what you want, so it might be worth a look. Good luck! -
I'm the opposite. I'm til at least 5 (usually a whole lot later!) downtown and then go out to Mississauga. it will give everyone a chance to gab about wedding plans and all kinds of other stuff! And hopefully we'll have one new bride in the mix and she'll be able to report back on how things went!!

@@JoannaBanana You should!!!! Why the heck not?? The more the merrier!! Does Aug 14th work for you?

There is an alternative that is fairly inexpensive if you really do want to send out paper invites. Staples or Michaels sells boxed invitations that you can print on your home printer. They give you a website inside the box and you pick whatever design to match what you bought, then print them. I did it for a friend's daughter. Her colours were grey and pink. She bought the invites with grey doves and I printed them in pink for her. They turned out actually really nice. I was quite surprised. It was just a flat card with a matching envelope and looked fine. The other idea is to sign up for Vistaprint and watch for their sales. If you get a deal that's 50% off you can get a very good price on invitations and they do have destination wedding designs. Having said all that, with a destination wedding you can do almost anything. I can't see why it would be tacky to just send free electronic ones. That way too you could have people RSVP directly to your website.

Hi Rebecca, First of all congratulations and welcome to BDW!! You've definitely come to the right place for planning information. I can almost guarantee that as far as experience I don't think there are very many of the brides to be here that have done wedding planning. I think we've had a couple with some event planning experience but the majority are first timers just like yourself. The best piece of advice I can give you is to contact the administrators of this site. They are destination wedding experts and I'm sure they would be able to help you with suggestions or ideas with the criteria your looking for and they're CA based!! You can read reviews of their services here and see what other brides have had to say. You can contact them through this site and I've tried to past the link: https://www.wrighttravelagency.com/go/destination-wedding?lp-variation-id=0&title=Planning%20a%20Destination%20Wedding?&source=BDW&creative=WTA%20TB Good luck!

Oh my goodness I'm so sorry you're dealing with this trying to plan a wedding! I've been to Cabo a couple of times but don't have any info on the resort you're asking about. As a general rule Barcelo resorts are good resorts. Firstly, have you gone through the resort reviews here to see if there are any for the Barcelo you're looking at? Just type it into the search bar at the top. Secondly, have you considered talking to the administrators of this site - Wright Travel. They're destination wedding experts and have reached some of the highest levels in awards for some of the resort chains. As well, the host is also a Cabo bride. I don't know all your circumstances but I'm sure it wouldn't do any harm to contact them and just see if there is anything they can suggest or perhaps even provide info on the particular Barcelo that you've asked about. You can contact them through this site but perhaps @Tammyhost and some of the other brides could chime in with a suggestion as well. Good luck! Keep us posted on how you make out!

@@JaeD Sorry to hear about your TA. You're absolutely not the first bride to have this issue. As @@krystalball mentioned, you'll definitely get some recommendations here. @@TinkerSofi is actually in Calgary and is using an agent that is quite popular on this site. Obviously I can't speak for @@snswedding2016 so I can't say on her TA. The agent's name is Laurie Lee Rosser. She isn't based in Toronto, but the ladies that deal with her have nothing but great things to say about her. Her number toll free is 866-509-9337 and she has a site: www.laurielee.ca Her email is [email protected] Hope that helps and good luck!
