Congrats! Mexico is beautiful for a DW! I would definitely recommend finding a good travel agent first of all. Both the resorts you mentioned have their own specific features and are both very popular resorts with the brides to be here. Beach Palace is very popular. I know there are a couple of threads here of brides that have used or are using Beach Palace. Just do a search up top and there will be different forums that come up. Reading definitely will get you ideas that have been used by past brides as well as what current brides are going through with their planning. A travel agent will help you with your must haves, your budget and the budget for your guests as well as what the packages offer and what they cost. You might also be entitled to some perks or something that are available that a travel agent will be able to help you with. I don't know if you're in the US or Canada but there are agent recommendations here that might also help you out. Good luck and happy planning!

Hi and congrats on your upcoming destination wedding! There is a thread here specific to Royalton White Sands that would be very useful and I know they've posted photos. It's a pretty new resort and I remember the thread was a bit slow in getting started but now I think there have been a couple of brides that have been there. I can't do links right now but if you just do a search up top the forum should come up for you to go through. As well definitely go through the resort and vendor review parts of the site to see what past brides have said about their experience. Happy planning!

I have to admit I haven't seen too many Florida brides here but definitely have a search and see what you find. Plus, some of the ideas and suggestions aren't exclusive so any kind of a check list should help. You could always just search for checklists and I'm sure something that other brides have used will come up. Good luck!

The flowers are pretty! And look just fine. The cake should be gorgeous!

You could also look at Oriental Trading. They have a wedding section and their prices are reasonable since you're in the US. Also efavourmart.com and Exclusively Weddings might have something although I haven't looked there for that item. What about Party City? They sell quantities of 12 I think, or maybe 24 and if I remember their prices were ok. Don't know if you'll get 10 cents each but likely not too far off. Good luck!

@SimpleBliss Both Joyce and @@beckys98 are right! If you want a resort, finding one that doesn't charge vendor fees will be difficult. You could always do a resort stay and have your wedding and reception off resort. Blue Vendao Beach Club is one location that a couple of brides here have used. Joyce would be able to help you with that. We're using Grand Coral Beach Club and then a restaurant in Playa del Carmen but we're a very small group. The resorts are all different in the fees they charge and there are definitely resorts that do not allow any outside vendors at all. It's a bit of work to investigate but a good travel agent would be able to help you through the maze. You also need to determine your budget and the budget for your guests as that will play a big part in what you end up choosing. You should note that beckys98 was married in Jamaica so some of the policies there don't apply to Mexico since it's two different countries. There are a couple of very nice resorts close to Playa del Carmen again that a good travel agent would be able to assist with. Good luck!

Congrats and welcome! You don't say what type of ideas and information you're looking for but a good starting point would be just to browse the forums and do some reading. Then I would highly recommend finding a good travel agent. They will be come your new best friend as you go through your planning journey. They should be able to help you with your must haves and don't wants, your budget and what you want your guests to spend to travel as well as field any questions that your guests might have to leave you free for your other planning details. The ladies here are great. Don't hesitate to ask question within the forums. We have a few brides getting married over the next couple of months so you should also get some good reviews once they're back that might help you out as well. Good luck and happy planning!

@@1dannylee Joyce is absolutely fantastic! We are off resort for our vow renewal and she has been amazing! She found us a venue that worked with our very small group (we're only 6 or 8), a spot for an after ceremony dinner and flowers and cake. It has all worked out really well. I did the photographer on my own and we're also getting (I think) a short video done too. Styling Trio has fabulous reviews - you can check out their facebook page for pictures. @@calgarybride2015 is totally right in that the brides to be use all 3 vendors but I can't comment on the other two. Definitely look through the vendor reviews or just do a search up top and comments from forums will pop up for you to read. We have all of our things in Playa del Carmen which is where I wanted to be and we have chosen Valentin Imperial Maya for the resort to stay at. Good luck and happy planning!

Oh my goodness - is that a date? With all the brides to be/new brides here that would be mission accomplished if we have an agreement! How about a last roll call?

Part 1: Words of Wisdom from a Past Bride
acw271011 commented on MarieSamSanchezPhoto's article in Planning
What a great article and the same things I try to tell our brides to be as often as I can! I've been there too and ours DID fall apart! In the end it was just the two of us doing what we wanted to do! When all is said and done, that's the most important thing! -
@@nkavanaugh I really like Party City. I've picked up different things over the last couple of years. Our bubbles that we used at our AHR were from there and everyone loved them! Plus we pick things up for our grandkids' birthdays from there and have never had a problem. My gf wants a dress for Mexico without it really being a BM dress. Might go take a look at lulus. Thanks for the tip.

You're sweet but believe me when I say that anything showing any state of undress would not be pretty!! lol I actually was trying to upload a photo on the back of the card but trying to resize one to a vertical length and it just wasn't working right. I found one of their designs and really liked the back but I couldn't get everything off the front so that I could put my design on. I don't know if you cN take a front of one and the back of another and aske them to merge the files or not? It's not a bid deal. For the number I need it really isn't worth it. Easier to just stick with mine I think lol

How To Choose A Maid Of Honor
acw271011 replied to Hydewedding's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Congrats and welcome! If you do a search up top in the search bar on bridesmaid drama you'll get any number of pages to read!! It's an ongoing dilemma for many brides to be. If it was me, and you know they don't like each other, and you know there will be trouble if you chose one over the other, then chose someone else and make both of them bridesmaids! And if they say anything about it, tell them just that you love them both and you knew that someone's feelings would be hurt. You didn't want anyone to be hurt so you asked someone else because you didn't want to have to chose between them. Good luck! -
I'm at University and Richmond/Queen so I can be down there by 5:30! lol And given that it's the Friday right after second quarter/half year release I will be ready for a drink! (or two or three) 7pm is fine for me but I'll definitely start heading down before that. I'll be so desperate to get out of the office that Friday..... @@snswedding2016 I'm glad you found the other bride to be and added her. Definitely we should try to include anyone that wants to attend. I think @@Meandhim is in Newfoundland, now isn't she? Oh shoot - isn't she a Mrs. now????? She was having her legal ceremony back home! We'll have another new Mrs. to celebrate with as well as @@veryvalentine !!

@diadiamond ha I'm soooo far behind in reading it's awful! I feel so terrible about it because it's what I'm supposed to do!! But between all the hours I've been working and getting away on holiday for a week, it has set me back in a big way! Now hubby wants to have the long weekend as well. I love the trailer but to be honest I would just as soon have stayed home this weekend! lol We get so few long weekends though..... that's what makes it so hard! I know!! If you're on the Milton train I would bet big odds that we've been on the same train at some point in time. I've been taking it for about 3 years now. Now though with all the time issues on the Milton train I bump down to the Lakeshore West some mornings. More reliable and better schedule, plus I can get an express from Oakville right into downtown with no stops. Bonus!! What building are you in? I used to be in the Simpson Tower at Queen & Bay, then across the street in the Cadillac Fairview tower beside old city hall.

@@JoannaBanana There's an online store called Paper Garden (I think that's it). I used them when we got married 4 years ago and their paper prices are amazing! They also have the fold over envelopes as well as the special square size ones that would work for passport and boarding pass invites. I found the link www.paper-garden.ca You can order "chips" of the paper styles and colours to see what you like. They're pricing is great and since it's Canada they'll use priority post to send so you aren't paying US shipping costs. Hope that helps!

@@diadiamond I agree with @ I can't see any reason why you can't join in. As she said, the more the merrier! I think we're still finalizing the location. @@snswedding2016 mentioned some but not sure everyone yet has come back with a "yes". I can see Young & Front being a good central for everyone I think. Just have to see how the responses come along.... there are a couple of ladies that haven't been here much lately, and that's always an issue with people being on summer vacation. Hard to do the total roundup. Just keep watching the forum and see where we end up.

Here's your giggle for the night ladies. I had to work late tonight. (so what else is new?) Hubby left with the trailer so I have the house to myself until I drive to meet up with him on Saturday a couple of hours away in New York. I got home and decided rather than driving to my gf's with my dress, I'd just try it on myself. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha dumb idea. Um first of all, it's a corset back. duh. i need help to do it up! And I found out it's one heck of a lot of dress!!!!! Holy geez! So no pics yet. Well - I could upload the dress pics. Just not with me in it. Yet. The good thing is I figured out which layer of crinoline has to come out. I will absolutely COOK in Mexico if I don't shrink some layers which I knew I was going to do anyway. But there is more than I was expecting. lol I put the veil on with it and I actually really like it. So the good part of that is that I figured out how much needs to be cut off the veil. I played around with my key card holders too and swapped out the picture on them now that the resort is booked. I had been using Azul Fives since I thought that was where we would be and the internet has really nice pics of that resort. But I did find a couple of nice ones of Valentin so here is the card redone. our mexico keycard holder Valentin.ppt The other thing is a quick little door card. I don't know if I'm actually going to use it or not. I got a deal notice from Vistaprint and started to play around. Does anyone know if you can take the back of one of their designs and the front of your own design? I tried finding a photo to put on the back and couldn't get it to resize properly. It kept telling me that the resolution was no good. So I'm thinking I'll just print it on white cardstock and leave the back blank.

@MegLeLy Congrats on both the baby and the upcoming wedding! I think the first baby is the most exciting! Wow - can you tell what a great group of ladies are here!! And we have a couple of weddings coming up very soon so keep an eye on the forums! Good luck with your travel agent! Be sure to let us know where you decide!

Who was the new bride to be that was here a couple of days ago and she mentioned a "meet" with Toronto brides? I'll have to back track to find her name.... (old age again) I thought we had about 9 - the list seems a little shorter. I know a couple cancelled but it still seems like there should be more. I didn't know Oliver & Bonnacini had a patio. That one is close for me lol So is Queen and Peter. Definitely somewhere with a backup location in case it rains..... @Ruzanna did you add her? Not sure if she confirmed or not....

Wow I am so far behind! I can't believe you leave NEXT SUNDAY!!!!! Aahhhhhh!! lol Your wedding for me is like Kristy's was... one I'm so very much waiting to see pictures of!!! You have put so much hard work into putting your special day together it's going to be absolutely amazing!! Don't sweat the small stuff now. Everything has come together in such an amazing way! Ha ha - your "to do" list has really gotten short!!! I remember how it was way back when..... Definitely get in touch with your photographer and find out about their timing (if they split up or work in tandem). As much as you're the client, they're the experts. Work with what they want to do. That's how you get awesome photos!! If you've done a list, make a duplicate and have someone on hand keep it. Just in case. Things do happen, and if someone goes astray.... then the in charge person will know to send out the search party to make sure the missing person is found for your photos. As @@veryvalentine noted, things can get a bit chaotic and shots do get missed. I like the ring engraving idea too, especially if you have a hubby that is going to forget the anniversary date! lol You'd be surprised though how many men actually do remember! Love the jewellery! And to finally receive it after all the aggravation must be a huge relief! Plus getting your house possession date! Wow - it must feel like winning the lottery! lol (well maybe not quite thaaaaat good.....) You should post a couple of pics from your shower! Remember what I just said... "don't sweat the small stuff" Don't be paranoid about your wedding day timeline. The thing is - if people want to go do something on their own for 10 minutes or half an hour, they're going to. Especially at a DW. So don't be too rigid on your timeline because it will only upset you even more if something goes wacky and your timeline goes wacky with it!! You're so organized - it's all going to go just fine but don't get so worked up that you don't enjoy it. Be ready to hand over stuff to some other people when you get there. I love that little quote. I might steal part of it. It makes you get teary eyed! I'm happy your MOH realized something wasn't right BEFORE you left! Good for her!! A gremlin huh? yeah I can relate. you think the hair growth is bad now? ha ha just wait until you get older! you'll be looking for a discount rate on the laser treatment!! (jk) And I agree with @calgarybride2015 Juan is NOT going to get tired of you! @@beckys98 is totally right too!! Doug and I have been together nearly 14 years and that man can still make my stomach do flip flops! He left this afternoon on his own with the trailer and I'm meeting up with him on Saturday (he gets a crap load more vacation than I do!). I'm so excited to have the house to myself tonight!! Really! But I know by the time Saturday rolls around and I'm driving to upstate New York I'll be looking forward to seeing him. He travels for work too sometimes - a whole lot less now than he used to - and I hardly sleep while he's gone and I expect an email or phone call from him every day! Sometimes if he's in Europe that's not always easy! lol Mexico City not so bad. Germany with a 6 hour time difference is harder. It's all going to be fine. You love each other, and yes there will be a period of adjustment for both of you. But if you didn't love each other you wouldn't be getting married. You'll have a new house to look forward to as well! It's an exciting time! Be young and enjoy it!! Absolutely don't do anything new this close to your wedding unless you're certain it won't affect you!! I don't understand the fake eyelashes thing. I've never ever worn them in my life lol I think a good lash building mascara will be fine BUT I things are different now. I think MAC will be able to recommend something for you especially if you already have nice lashes. I'm going to say it again - it will all work out beautifully and you're going to be a gorgeous bride!!! You're in good shape. You're organized. Don't overthink things. I so can't wait to see pictures and ones using your props!!!!

@snswedding2016 I agree. Hopefully the patio location will be open but anything can go wrong. Ladies - I'm open to suggestions. I'm afraid I'm not very good with things downtown. I just found out we're having our Xmas doo at Copa Cabana on Adelaide. Don't know anything about it though. I can find out..... @deecol We'll miss you!! But absolutely I say we can try a second date later on and see if the ladies that couldn't attend the first can make it for a second! @veryvalentine pleeeeeeeeeeeeease say you'll bring wedding pictures!!! I so can't wait to see them. Can we do a roll call to see who is still available for August 14th and how big of a group? That might determine where we can go and where we can't.
