@Chawrela Congrats on your upcoming wedding! The other thing I've heard is that from Edmonton, since there are fewer flights, that prices can be higher than say from Calgary. It depends on the tour company and where you're going.

What a cool idea! And the design you picked is so pretty! We had 30 at our AHR and it worked out great! Everyone had a great time. It was just a nice number to work with so for a DW it should be perfect!

Aww now you've made me cry!! That's so nice of you to say! It was such a surprise to run in to you! But I'm glad I did! You looked so stunning in your dress - it suits you perfectly!! Your jewellery is gorgeous! I love it! It was fun for me to get to see you in your dress! When my daughter got married, she was 2 hours away so it was just too much to get too involved with all of her planning. We basically just paid as she asked. Plus, she's a bit unorthodox and wore a brown wedding dress with a light blue sash. I was so disappointed that was what she wanted to wear but that's her. She didn't want a wedding dress, or at least not a traditional white/ivory one. So I missed out on that stuff even if I am the "wicked step-mom" lol Seeing you in your dress was definitely special!

@@maybeoneday yes - the UK does make it a bit hard to join us! But hopefully we'll get a chance to meet up in Mexico right after your wedding! I hope those plans can come together! We're confirmed to arrive on Oct 18th! You haven't posted much lately - hope all is going well! @@diadiamond @@veryvalentine @perianjay I so enjoyed Friday night! Who knew that talking about wedding stuff all night would be so much fun!!! @@diadiamond sorry for hijacking your thread!

Both dresses are gorgeous!! I absolutely LOVE the bridesmaid dress with the ruffle down the back! That's so pretty!! Your after dress is beautiful and is perfect for later in the evening! Malibu is the colour I'm using too, along with Begonia which is the hot pink or fuchsia. But yes, I find sometimes the colours just don't match up with the samples. I'm glad your day out went well. And giggling at Magic Mike is a good sign! Will definitely have to check it out!

@FutureMrsGlover Oh my goodness - I just realized your wedding date is so close!!! You're just 10 days before our renewal. What on earth happened with your resort? I'm sorry - I've been so out of touch since about mid July and I'm still trying to get caught up!!

@ and @@maybeoneday thank you on the cake topper and jewellery. I really like both of them. We had a pretty cake topper when we got married but I wanted something different since we aren't getting married, and since we're only a few years now from retiring, the chairs with the wine/beer and flip flops fit what we want to retire to. @@calgarybride2015 I agree. Joyce uses this particular baker for all of her off resort weddings and she sent me the list that this lady puts together. I'm not sure if some of it is because of the translation from spanish? Hopefully I hear from Joyce tomorrow and she lets me know what they mean. I have to admit that hazelnut doesn't do anything for me. I know Nutella is the latest craze - the place I get my muffin in the morning actually puts it on bagels! My shoes are Horizon. Sorry for the lousy pic. I tried to find a place with a light background so the pics would show but the bedroom I did them in has lousy overhead lighting so they came out really crummy. Plus I was using my phone instead of my camera like I should have. I like the flowers. They're only about an inch and a half across, maybe a smidge more so not big enough to be overbearing. @Wafflesmom Thank you! That's so sweet! It's funny you say that - my gf called tonight to see if I want to go over and finally try my dress on because the lady that is going to do the alterations on it is available on Thursday. She asked what time I could get there and all I could do was laugh. I told her that no matter what I'm walking out of the office this week at 5pm! No ifs, ands or buts! The last two weeks have been long (again) and I'm tired. I went to bed Friday night and slept 11 straight hours!! I'm really too old for this! So..... I finally get to try my dress on this Thursday and yes, I will ask her to take a pic of me in it. At last! I haven't received the second dress yet, but my guess is that it will be this week. I'll check the tracking number tomorrow and see where it's at. The shoes are David's Bridal and I just had them dyed. I really, really like the style because the heel isn't excessively high. My knees just don't like high heels anymore. And that's right - I don't think I posted here what happened last week. I know I told the GTA girls on Friday night. The blue shoes I posted here earlier that I really liked - the Adriana Papell Sky Blue ones - I couldn't find them anywhere in my size so I gave up. But boy I loved those shoes! So last week I get an email from Amazon that says "still looking for Adriana Papell pumps?" I'm like heck ya!!!! So I start clicking around and ta da! My blue shoes are available. In. My. Size!!!! Ha somebody upstairs really likes me!!! So I ordered them. They'll arrive at my son's in the US tomorrow! And they were less than half the original price!!! No way I was walking away from that!!! I can just hear Doug now.... lol I agree on the dulce le leche. I think it's going to be really sweet. I would love something more fruity for the filling or a custard type cream that isn't overly sweet but until I hear back on the what the list of flavours means we can't figure out what's available. I absolutely would have no problem with Doug picking the filling - he definitely would pick something I think that would work for everyone and be somewhat neutral. He's so conditioned now for sugar that he can't have that he's gotten pretty good at working within what he's allowed and not allowed. I love the strawberry suggestion but as I mentioned, he's allergic to strawberry so that would have to be off the list. If she has raspberry or peach that would work. We aren't big lemon people - Doug likes a slice of lime in his Corona - but that doesn't count! lol And I detest coconut so that's off the list too! lol Sort of narrowing the choices, aren't I?? I'll see what Joyce comes back with and go from there.

I totally agree! Friday night was a great night and I hope it can be arranged again! We needed better seating arrangements I think - like @@snswedding2016 said, a round table - so that everyone could talk. It's hard on a bench like we had. You end up just with a few people to chat to. By the way - what happened to your dress pic!! lol You said you would post one! I posted my shoes..... You were absolutely gorgeous! You'll make a stunning bride!!

I'm still playing catch up with all of the threads.... aahhhh I didn't have anyone I needed to ask since we're already married so I didn't get that pleasure, and the ones that we did ask when we went to Jamaica backed out about 2 and a half months before so we ended up on our own. But you all have cute ideas!! I definitely wasn't that original. I just did it by phone. lol I love the wine bottle labels! Very nice and very original! Can I protest? I like "alpha" bitch better than what mine is (nice bitch) Am I allowed to switch?? @wafflesmom things are coming together nicely! Looking forward to seeing more!

@@calgarybride2015 well that's where I'm not totally clear. I've sent an email to Joyce to ask here what some of the fillings mean. On the list there's Chocolate Ganashe (Black or White), Fudges (Black or White), Dulce de leche, Chocolate Cream, Vanilla Crema (optional fruit), Moka, Tiramisu, Buttercream (optional fruit), Cheesecream (optional fruit) and Hazelnuts It's the ones tagged as "optional fruit" that I'm not clear on. As for strawberry, I wish I could but Doug is allergic to strawberries so that's a no go. I was thinking vanilla cake with a raspberry filling. Doug suggested dulce de leche which is like caramel I guess. But I don't know what the "cheesecream" is supposed to be or the Vanilla Crema. I thought maybe custard? So aside from Doug's suit yesterday I got a couple of things done today. I also ran into @@diadiamond at David's having her final fitting and I have to say - she looked absolutely gorgeous!!!! Just stunning! She is going to be a beautiful bride!! I picked up my shoes that I had dyed and they turned out fabulous!!! I love them! I got the petals too for inside so my feet don't slide around. I also picked up the two little flowers to put in my hair so I can have something a little interesting in the back and take the veil off at dinner. There wasn't much selection I have to say and the lady told me that they just can't keep hair pieces in the store. She said as soon as they come in they're gone again. But I like these. They're simple and easy to work with. I did want something with a little more bling but these do have shinies in them so I think they'll be ok. I also got our "OOT" bags ordered (all 8 of them! lol), plus the sunglasses that I wanted and maracas (yeah all 10 of those too! lol) Next thing I want to look at is the labels for the cups.

Wow that's really pretty! I've never seen anything like that before. It almost looks like it's threaded through the chair as opposed to being attached to it. The other thing you have to remember is that you're not the one that will do the decorating - someone else will be so will they be able to reproduce it? If it's too complicated as well, will they charge you an arm and a leg to do it! Sorry - don't want to burst your bubble but I'm not sure it will be super easy to do!

@vancouverpetunia lol yeah it was the same for me. I saw a few that I liked until I looked at the prices. We ordered Doug's suit today and he ended up in a light grey instead of the tan and I'm totally ok with that. He actually tried on the ivory and omg - with his tan he looked so good in it but couldn't get around the light coloured pants and I knew if we went with black he'd cook. So gray it is. And it looks good with the turquoise vest and tie. We also have to pick a cake flavour and a filling flavour and I'm at a total loss. Any ideas? I'm thinking vanilla cake is probably the safest in terms of what everyone will like but fillings.... I have no clue.

Oh I'm so far behind in the threads! I've missed so much over the last 2 weeks! It was so much fun to meet you last night! I really hope we get another chance to do it again! I'm really sorry that you've had drama with your bridal party too. I hate it for all of you. It's awful that the plans didn't come together the way it should have, especially since you planned it ahead of time! I hope you and your MOH have a lovely day tomorrow!! It will be well deserved! I wish I had some words of wisdom for all of you but I don't. I really wonder if it's because it's a destination wedding that seems to make all of these bridal parties so uncooperative! I just don't think they fully understand that just because it's being held somewhere else doesn't mean there is any less planning work. Well, there is a bit less but there are still things that need to be done. I hope your numbers work out ok. I know we say that we understand that people can't make it for various reasons whether money or time off or whatever, but when it actually does happen it doesn't make it any less disappointing. I hope you can fill the empty spots and keep your numbers where you want them to be. You absolutely have to give a report on AF when you get back. As much as I love the resort we picked I'm still just a tiny, tiny bit disappointed about AF. I so had my heart set on that pier lol So you have to take some pics!

What kind of budget are you trying to work with? I just had a dress name suggested from someone else here but they seem to be more towards the higher end price range so I wasn't sure whether to suggest it or not. There are some that are reasonable so they aren't all super expensive but I don't know if there are enough reasonable priced ones to give you enough variety to look at. I had never heard of them before but try the Shelli Segal line.

Congrats and welcome! I believe there have been a couple of brides here that have booked at a resort that had just opened or was still in the process of opening. The Royalton Resort in Riviera Maya comes to mind but hopefully someone will chime in with their experience. You're definitely taking a risk with a brand new resort but not a risk that is insurmountable. There are always little kinks that need to be worked out in a new resort - I would definitely say keep that in mind. Other than that, I would recommend talking to your travel agent. They're the ones that would be familiar with the resort chain and how well they do with new openings. Iberostars are good resorts that I've heard but definitely keep an eye on the reviews before you leave. Sometimes it takes a bit longer to get everything functioning up to speed. Good luck!
