  1. Absolutely gorgeous! Your dress is stunning! You both look so happy! Glad the weather cooperated. We had the same situation. Our dinner actually was moved inside because by the evening it was pouring rain but our ceremony was perfect! What a beautiful gazebo! The flowers they added are wow!! Congrats on being a Mrs!
  2. The IKEA lanterns are great. I took them to Mexico 2 weeks ago and they were perfect on our table. I got chair sashes and a table runner, plus a gold organza cover for the cake table from efavormart.com The prices were reasonable and the quality was good.
  3. Congrats! Jamaica is a gorgeous place to get married and is quite popular with brides. I'm a 2011 Jamaica bride and we loved it. Good luck and happy planning!
  4. Congrats and welcome! Your wedding date is getting very close! Hope the planning is going well. If you can, post some picks of your OOT bags. The ladies love to see photos (me included)! Good luck! Lots of DR brides but I've never seen any for Puerto Plata. I hope you post a review after your wedding. It's good info for future brides.
  5. Well the owners of this site are destination wedding specialists and have won major awards with large resort chains. Why don't you contact them just to see what they say? No harm in asking and I'm sure they'd be able to get you some really good information that can help you make an informed decision. Here's a link to get in touch with them: https://www.wrighttravelagency.com/go/destination-wedding?lp-variation-id=0&title=Planning%20a%20Destination%20Wedding?&source=BDW&creative=BTN%20WTA It never hurts to ask and there's nothing to lose just by asking. See what they can do. Good luck!
  6. First question is what about your guests? How are they doing their flights? TAs can usually get good deals on flights but if you're trying to get everyone together then a TA is your best bet. What about your room block? Do you not have a TA helping you with that? If not, you could be missing out on some group perks that a TA would be knowledgeable about. Same with all of the bookings. Sounds like you have enough to deal with, without worrying about your guests getting to your wedding. We've been through the illness thing too, which is why we just renewed our vows, and it takes a lot of time and energy to deal with, plus wedding planning on top of it? A TA would almost definitely make your life easier! All the best!!
  7. @TinkerSofi Hey!!!!!!!!!!!! You came back!! You MUST be telepathic! lol I have been thinking about you the last couple of days and wondering how you were! How is the new house? Getting settled in ok? How is married life??? What date do you leave for Argentina? I never got to see your wedding pictures. Stephanie told me about them and said they're gorgeous! I can't wait to see ours. The time is going to drag!
  8. Wow! Everything looks really great! I LOVE the hangover design! Too cute! You'll definitely have to post pics afterwards!
  9. Congrats! Your date is so soon! Thanks for posting your details. We all love to read them, and the tips are always helpful! El Dorado Royale is a gorgeous resort!
  10. By the way, just as an FYI. My dress was satin. It was all steamed and ready when I picked it up. The store had put it in a clear plastic bag and I bought a cloth bag that I put over the top so it was double bagged. I folded it in half once and put it in the overhead bin on the plane. It stayed in the closet in our room until the morning of our anniversary and I took it out after Doug left in the morning, fully expecting to have to steam it. I was stunned that it didn't need anything at all. It looked just as nice as when I picked it up. We just took it out of the bag and let it hang for about 2 hours, train down, and it was fine. Just thought that might help for anyone really worried about transporting their dress.
  11. Wow! Everything looks gorgeous, and you've really accomplished a lot!! Not too long to go! We just got back from Mexico on Sunday and used Mike Cantarell Video. He was great and super easy to work with. I found his pricing pretty reasonable. I had contacted Gallardo but found them higher than what I wanted. We were only 4 so didn't need someone for that length of time. Mike has posted a few videos here - you could search and I'm sure samples would come up.
  12. I found the recent NOW Larimar threaad - maybe you can read through it and see if there are opinions or not. I'm not familiar with the resort, sorry. I'm sure there are other ladies that will chime in with information. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/77311-now-larimar-2015/
  13. @ Thanks Perian! Your chalkboard got front and centre on the cake table - I can't wait to see Sam's photos. I asked Doug why he didn't get a shot of it when he did the cake topper and of course being a guy I get "Well I'll see it all the time at home and Sam will have pictures." Yeah ok. lol Everybody loved it and said how beautiful it is (of course I completely agreed!) The chair signs were a hit too!
  14. Congrats and welcome! I think it's a matter of preference. You'll definitely get different opinions here from the ladies. I absolutely did NOT want sand in my feet so the beach just wasn't an option. There are other ladies here that know that they want the beach just because they're doing a destination wedding. So two ways to look at it. I've added the link to the official thread. I would spend some time reading it if you can. Generally questions that get asked have been asked multiple times so they do get answered in the threads, along with photos being posted. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/27597-ocean-turquesa-coral-brides/ Good luck and happy planning!
  15. Happy that you're knocking things off your list. Very satisfying! It sounds like your Toronto time was productive. LOVE the rings! You're right about the simplicity of yours - the two go together beautifully! Love the Keg too for a nice quiet dinner together. The food is good and it just gives a chance to connect. It's one of our favourite places.
  16. @vancouverpetunia I had the same issue with posting my pics. Wish I could figure out what the problem is. Some go the right way and others go sideways but they start from exactly the same spot in my folder.
  17. @JoannaBanana @deecol @vancouverpetunia Thank you to each of you. I'm happy with the way things turned out in Mexico. I've realized my husband never stops amazing me with how sweet and wonderful he is. As to the job, I probably sound more positive than I actually am I think. Right now I'm looking forward to heading to Vancouver in a couple of weeks to check on my dad. All the vacation I didn't get to take, now I want the time I worked so hard for.
  18. lol Yeah the David's bridal shoes were a whole ton more comfortable. Not sure why. I tried on the AP shoes in the store for the size. Got it and ordered the colour I wanted online since they didn't have it in store. Got them and they're snug. I tried to get the time to have them stretched before we left but it didn't work too well so I managed them for about 2 hours and then had to switch to the DB shoes lol I intend to get the AP ones stretched properly so I can wear them. I absolutely LOVE them! The colour is sooooooo pretty. I hate breaking in shoes though lol The DB ones were great from the start and I would definitely recommend them. They were a great price and the dyeing only cost $5 and you can pick any colour you want. The other site I would recommend is Nina Shoes. They have some beautiful blue ones with all different heel heights. Absolutely gorgeous. Good luck!
  19. Yay! Another thread! Congrats on your engagement and welcome! Sorry I've been MIA - we just got back 2 days ago from Mexico and renewing our vows, which was absolutely wonderful! lol The Palace resorts are definitely popular with the ladies here so you've picked a good location with Moon. I'm sure you've seen the multiple threads available on the different ones. Tygrlily definitely had a gorgeous wedding and her thread is amazing! Love your engagement ring and your wedding band is definitely an absolute steal!! I've stacked mine as well and I love it! Your colours are so pretty! The navy and pink/blush look beautiful together. I'm sure it will be amazing! Our bus stopped at Moon Palace on the way to the airport on Sunday. It was the first time I had actually seen the resort. Any other time has only been the sign from the highway. It is HUGE for sure!! lol Absolutely enormous!! We couldn't believe it. There is actually a full sized bus that runs between the 3 parts of the resort and I only know that because we just happened to see it while the people were loading onto our bus. I knew it was a big resort - you only have to read about it to get that - but I didn't know it was as huge as it is! lol
  20. Love the ring box! It's really coming along nicely! I think the mood too is the weather change. A lot of people feeling the same way. The Pinterest photo is my ring box lol It worked great and the photographer got some great shots with it!
  21. @Wafflesmom @@yycbride2016 Thank you both of you. I absolutely LOVED my hair lol Styling Trio are simply amazing! My friend brought hair extensions (she's a stylist) and they worked perfectly! I was even happy with my makeup, and that's saying something! I don't wear a lot and I asked them to make sure it was understated. The trial was a bit heavier than I wanted so they toned it down the day of. Thanks also on the job stuff. It's goofy - I was only there 2 years but the company had major stuff happen just 2 months after I started. I hung in there and like I said, was on my 3rd manager in about 13 months. This guy was just.... wow. Unreal. The thing is there is no way the president can make it that he made a mistake but I doubt this guy will last more than another year if that. By then they'll be able to let him go and the president will save face after making it look like he gave the guy a fair chance. I got a phone call last night from someone I worked with and the dissatisfaction is definitely spreading already. Things I didn't even know about so I doubt it will be too long. Something will come along. I'm not worried about it. Not yet anyway. I've got a couple of medical things to get through over the next couple of weeks so in a way the timing is ok. @@yycbride2016 Ouch - 3 times in 3 years really totally sucks!! I'm so sorry to hear that! It isn't fun that's for sure. The only good thing is they have to pay you and big time!! lol In this case for me they knew darned well that I would go after them if they didn't pay me off. The overtime I've given them over the last 18 months!! No way I'd let that go. The standing joke at home was whether or not I still lived here!! It went on for so long Doug kept teasing me about having moved out!
