  1. Congrats and welcome! You're right - this forum really does rock! The ladies here are great at providing ideas and suggestions. Do you have a travel agent yet? That's the first thing I would recommend. A TA will help you with your list of wants and don't wants. The owners of this site are destination wedding specialists and I know they could help you with locations based on what you're looking for. You can contact them through this site. Are you totally set on Tulum? I can think of one or two places that offer private locations but your budget will be a major factor, which again is why a TA can help you out. They'll be able to help you stay within your budget for locations as well as help you out with the budget you want for your guests. Good luck and happy planning!
  2. @Kristin18 Congrats and welcome! There are a number of threads for Rose Hall - too many to post them all but all you need to do is search in the search bar up top and they'll come up. Take some time to read through and I would think what you're asking will already have been asked. I'm a Jamaica bride too and Rose Hall was one on our list. We ultimately decided on a Gran Bahia resort but I know Rose Hall is very popular with brides. Good luck and happy planning!
  3. @@chel I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. That's awful! You don't say which resort you were married at. I know you're tried to contact your WC but is there a way to higher it up? Maybe a supervisor, or the head office of the hotel chain? Or looking online for the "district" where the resort is located in Punta Cana to see which registry office might be the one to contact? What about contacting your travel agent? Could they help out at all? Sometimes they have access to information. Good luck. Keep us posted on how it goes, and I'm sure if anyone else has had an issue they will step in with a reply.
  4. @ashhtayy Ok so another thread I'm trying to get caught up on! You think you're behind??? lol Aack.... I'll never get caugt up! First off, congrats on the new job and the new house!! Sounds like you're loving both!! Your dress is absolutely gorgeous and looks beautiful on you!! The belt definitely makes it!! Score on the price and the alterations! Wow! For belts, 2 suggestions: www.lastminutebride.com and www.preownedweddingdresses.com Both have a pretty good selection, and even though they're US sites, the pre-owned one does have people selling stuff in canada so you might find something. Good luck! The bridesmaid dress is beautiful too! I LOVE the colour! Have you decided on a flower colour yet to go with it? With the ocean colour in the background, your photos will be fabulous!! And the necklace will definitely pull it all together! Great deal on them too! Can't beat that!! And another score on the flasks!! Not cliché at all but you're right - definitely cool for photos!! You've definitely pulled a lot together in a short time! I've seen so many brides to be here at the six-month mark and the next thing you know, their wedding is around the corner so the time will definitely fly by!!! Love that your mom texts reminders! My renewal dress was a light satin and I wasn't too hot in it at all. Granted, it was October but it was still pretty humid and the satin didn't bother me (even with the tummy sucker underneath! lol) so early June I think you'll be ok.
  5. @@deecol Definitely post a pic of the band. That's where we got my two, on sale as well. Gotta love bridal jewellery sales! And of course pics of your dress! That's great that UK family can attend in February. Are you going to have a hen night as well, or only the bridal shower? It's one of the better times to travel for airfares from the UK (I generally use Jan to Apr and Sep-Oct for the cheaper fares). Will definitely be a fun time!!
  6. @Wafflesmom I just finished reading all the pages I missed!! I can't believe how far behind I am!!! Your wedding is getting so close too!! First off, your dress is absolutely stunning with the veil. I love it and I think the one you chose is beautiful! The earrings and bracelet are so pretty and just match so nicely. The whole look is gorgeous! And Derrick is very handsome in the suit. You will make a striking couple in your photos and I know Sam will do a wonderful job!!! I so hope we get ours soon! lol I do want to say (since the discussion took place on the day of our anniversary and I was otherwise occupied in Mexico lol) to both you and @deecol that I think asking family to sign your marriage certificate is a wonderful idea. I know they say bridal party, but when you require 4 witnesses it does make it a bit more awkward, more so when you either don't have a large enough bridal party or when you have one larger that leaves certain people left out. I think in that case asking parents is so sweet and I think they would be totally honoured!! In your case, i agree - go with your gut as to who to ask but if your uncle has been the father figure, my first instinct would be him. I'm sorry about the TA trouble but happy it got sorted and now seems to be working out. Getting final payments done is always a relief. We only had a couple of people but getting our stuff paid up made it more real. Doing an off site meant it all went separate places so being in a resort and having it one-stop shop style would be so much easier. Your gifts are gorgeous. I'm just learning about Kate Spade and while I do find the prices a bit over the top the things I've seen are beautiful! Your bridesmaids will love all their gifts and you will LOVE Styling Trio. They are so awesome and so fantastic to work with!! I think extending your stay in Mexico is a super idea and having some time to yourselves as "newlyweds" will be wonderful. You can have private dinners without worrying about keeping up with family and after the stress of a wedding, that's always a good thing. You're getting so close now!! Everything is going to be beautiful and I'm looking forward to seeing it all come together, and to see what Sam does with your photos! Wow! I can't believe there are so many so close together! And April will be even busier!! lol
  7. To all you brides to be: I'm really behind in my reviews, one of which is Joyce of Dream Weddings. Joyce was absolutely wonderful during my planning for our vow renewal, even when I got a little nervous nutsy!! She was a calming voice of reason when things were going wrong for us. You can definitely count on her webinar to be of value to all of you that are in the early stages of your planning! Good luck and happy planning!! Go Joyce!!
  8. Ahhhh!! You're married!!! Congrats on being a Mrs!!!! Can't wait to see pics!! One month tomorrow is Mexico!! Woohoo!! OMG I'm going to lose all my brides......
  9. I'm so sorry to hear about what you've had to go through. I know it's no consolation, but a few brides to be here have had TA issues, and it just makes me feel so badly for you. I really hope you get it sorted out soon, or at least that you get the answers you need and get a new agent to work with!! April isn't far off!!
  10. Awww great shot! I'm so sorry I missed it! Especially the stripper talk!! lol So glad it was a good night! Any ideas on dates put out there? Hoping......
  11. @mhogan Congrats and welcome! @@calgarybride2015 has given you a great thread to look through. Her details are great and she also did the chill out. You'll find great info there. You could also do a search up top for other threads. It's a popular resort with ladies here so you'll find other info as well. Good luck!
  12. Me too! Hope it was a great night!! Somebody please write a review!!!! Or post pics.... or something! lol
  13. @Sheridan2016 Congrats and welcome! You'll find this site is full of information that will help you through your planning journey. I would recommend doing a search up top for your resort and read the forums that come up. There are several and odds are, any questions you have will likely be answered somewhere in one of the forums. As well, you can take a look through the Resort Reviews section and see what past brides have said about your resort. We've had several DR brides over the last year. Good luck!
  14. Hi! Congrats and welcome! Have you tried a search up top to see what forums come up for your resort? As well, there is the Resort Reviews section that you can look through to see what past brides have said. Good luck and happy planning!
  15. @@calgarybride2015 Your memory is incredible! I completely forgot about Elsa's wedding! lol
  16. Congrats and welcome! I agree with calgarybride2015. I would do a search up top and see what forums come up for the resort you're looking at, as well as the "Resort Reviews" section and see what past brides have said about their experience. Good luck!
  17. @MarMig Congrats on your upcoming wedding! I don't know if you've looked through this site or not but it's definitely worth reading. I did find one forum for the resort you mentioned that is probably worth reviewing. Also look up the resort reviews and see if your resort is listed there. The ladies here are great at providing input too. Good luck and happy planning! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/17557-catalonia-riviera-maya/
  18. @Kari26 I just sent you a message.
  19. @@snswedding2016. Ladies I'm really, really sorry but I'm going to have to pass on tonight. I'm just not feeling up to it and can't talk for more than a couple of minutes without coughing like crazy. And with two if you with weddings so, so close I definitely don't want to pass anything on to anyone. Please, please say we'll do one sometime in January or early February. We would have two more new brides by then!!! I want so much to hear about everything but that's just not going to happen for me tonight unfortunately. Maybe if we do another one I'll have my pictures by then!! So, so sorry about tonight!! But there better be pictures and a full report on how it goes!!!
  20. @caitlinneilson If you're talking about a professional photographer, getting into Mexico to "work" is like getting into any other country for work. You're definitely taking a risk, especially if the person travels with a lot of equipment. A work visa is required and if Mexican customs realizes it's someone coming in to work, they could be denied entry, just like anywhere else. Having said that I know there have been people that have done it and been ok. If it's someone staying as a guest for the week with you I would treat them like a guest, not as a professional photographer coming into the country to photograph your wedding.
  21. I agree with everyone else. This close - skip the STDs and go straight to invites. Much simpler. You'll need to get people booked very soon to guarantee space so makes no sense to do the extra time and expense. Good luck!
  22. Oh Steph - I'm sorry for everything you've been through. You've really had it all, haven't you? I'm glad you've been able to stay positive (just little meltdowns lol) and not be a true bridezilla! The groomsman stuff just blew me away. I don't get some people. Even being married twice I've never been through that lol I agree - just buy the stupid pants and shut up about it!! I can't even imagine how hard it was to cancel both your mom's trip and Sean's parents too. I know how hurt Doug and I were when his parents opted out of Jamaica when we got married and the reason wasn't even health related. You're so right - your mom's health is paramount and elderly parents on their own in strange surroundings, one with some dementia is a recipe for trouble, so as hard as it was it was right. Worrying about permanent resident cards is stress enough when it's under normal circumstances never mind adding the stress of trying to get it done for a wedding. This way it's not critical right now. What you've planned for your legal wedding sounds so romantic and so special - both sets of parents will love it and I know having all that time to devote solely to them will be super special. You'll remember it for years to come and so will they! I LOVE the flower and hair pics, especially #3 of the hair. That would look so gorgeous on you!!!! Your dress will be stunning with it all put together! I love everything your girls put together for your bachelorette! Looks like it was a ton of fun! Love the pics!!! And imagine a groom giving you a flower! That sounds like one lucky lady that married him and I think it will mean your marriage will be very special! Two questions lol We spend a lot of time in both Niagara on the Lake and NF and I'm not familiar with the pie place or peppermints..... not sure I should really ask about the latter... But the pie place I'm curious about. We already have our hotel booked for January for the Icewine Festival so somewhere different to eat while we're there would be nice. Hopefully I can be there Friday. I'll see how I feel by then. ha ha @@Wafflesmom @calgarybride2015 The "support" thread would probably be an appropriate spot!! (sorry, couldn't resist)
  23. Hey! Welcome back! I didn't get the chance to wish you "happy wedding day" so even though it's done I'll say it now - happy wedding day! I hope it was everything you hoped for and more!! Can't believe you're back already!! Wow. Where did the time go? And you've already started your review!! Geez....... I'm so far behind I'll never get caught up. I'm hoping to feel better by Friday to make it for the meet so I'll get the chance to hear all about it hopefully!! Can't wait to see photos!! We still don't have ours yet but I'm really hoping soon!!
  24. @perianjay Hey! Thanks. I know - we've been doing so much the last few weeks, between Vancouver then home a couple of days and off to the US for Thanksgiving with the grandkids so its been hectic. And I got sick in Vancouver so dealing with that too. Hoping to get there Friday. Not feeling great so will wait and see. Will know by Thursday. Still haven't heard from the photographer yet on our photos but hoping soon and video won't be for a while yet.
