  1. have you actually purchased from them yet? I found my colour, but I'm concerned with the shipping costs.
  2. Welcome - you're two days before me! We're Nov 17th! what time did you get?? the 15th was what we originally wanted lol but didn't get.
  3. I actually found them online at Party City in the US for $2.79 each so I think I'll end up ordering from there. Plus their glasses and other favours are really great and very reasonably priced!!
  4. hey ashley - check our oriental trading - I think the website is orientaltrading.com they say they'll do canadian orders but I don't know what the charges are for shipping. in our case we just have stuff sent to my step son. he married an american girl and they live in pennsylvania so we go about once a month to see our grandbabies and just pick up anything we've ordered! lol
  5. I saw those!! I think they're adorable! I was thinking about those too lol hope you don't mind if I copy you. sorry - I think they're cool!!
  6. who told you they allow photographers with no cost? I was told I have to pay $75 for a pass for our photographer and he's from Jamaica or $20 for the pass if he doesn't go into any of the bars (?? go figure) do you have an email with that in writing cuz I would definitely like to go back about that if you do!
  7. I haven't yet. our wedding isn't until November so I'm still working on my flowers. but credit card info from what I understand, then I think the balance is due when you arrive at the resort.
  8. if you're using tai flora and getting flowers additional to what is "free", you have to send a 25% deposit on whatever your total is at least 2 weeks ahead so I think you need to decide in advance. at least that's what I was told. from the quote you can figure your deposit. this is only for flowers that are not included in whatever package you have
  9. if you can get 1295 all in (fuel surcharge too) I would jump on it. that's still only 45 bucks more than ours so that's great. is it Transat? is it with the upgrade to royal golden?? I found out that Transat starts goiing on sundays but not til later in the month of november so look into it. you might be able to get a Transat out on a sunday.
  10. oops just one question. is that hotel rate all inclusive or are their meals and drinks extra? I know the US does things a bit differently than our Canadian vacations. we do almost everything all inclusive!!
  11. hey Megan. that's great info. thanks!! we have friends in Indiana and Wisconsin that we've been trying to figure ou how, from Canada, we were going to help them out with getting to our wedding and I think you've maybe just solved the problem for us. at least now I have info to pass on to both couples. whether they actually use it is up to them but at least it might help! thanks again. by the way, has your TA suggested any "last minute" flights at all? both our couples would be out of Chicago I think so I know pricing will probably be a bit different
  12. push to find out what the fuel surcharge is!! I was told that it can be as high as another $100 per person, so the $1250 might not actually be $1250. make sure you get all your info up front. even if its $1350 because of the fuel surcharge, that's still damn good if the rates are up to $1500 or $1600 now. we're in the almost the same boat with the departure. we got stuck getting married on Thursday, then we have to fly home on saturday. it's not great, but at this point it isnt' a deal breaker for me because we're going away at Christmas, which is just a month later.
  13. Ha ha - that's the way I feel too, and my wedding isn't until November!! soooooo..... what's next?????
  14. I talked to our agent again just a while ago and she said she is seeing the rates steadily climbing, so they are up again today. she said we got our rate just in time or we would have been much higher. as it is, our single rate is $1725 so I know of a couple of people in our group that won't like that number. they'll either have to find a roommate or put up and shut up. that's a $500 difference just to be alone in the room!!
  15. wow. so many booked for next January already!! good luck with the planning ladies! I guess we got lucky only booking 8 and a half months in advance!
  16. I talked to our agent today and she said that the rates she's seeing are what you quoted below so they did go up. Our original quote from Transat was $1500 but Sunquest had a deal and we got a price match from Transat with Sunquest. I don't know the ins and outs or how they do it. When she gets your quotes for Sunwing and Sunquest, if they're good, ask if she'll go back to Transat for a price match. I know low season is until Dec 15th so I would just keep pushing to find a lower rate. That's what I did. I just kept pushing and went to several different agents. try 1travel2000 or selloff vacations and keep after your travel agent. if they want the business they'll keep looking for you. if our rate wasn't good, I'd still be looking. we wouldn't be giving the pricing to our guests yet so just keep at it.
  17. we're close to Hamilton too but work in Toronto. it's Marlin Travel that we're dealing with so any office should be able to help you out. they're the ones that do the air miles certificates to help you reduce your price too so it's a double bonus. no guarantee that the rate will be the same if you're leaving later, but it should be fairly close I would think. good luck!!
  18. any travel agent that deals with Transat should be able to help you out. we're out of Toronto - aren't you out of Montreal? yes the price is all inclusive - tax, fuel surcharge and the upgrade to royal golden but if you aren't out of toronto, it will be different and if you're travelling a different date that might make it different too. we're travelling on Nov 12th and our wedding is on the 17th. Transat is Saturday to Saturday so if your wedding is on the 25th, you'll have to return the day immediately after your wedding.
  19. cool. another thread! we're getting married 17.11.2011 at Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica. we're in good shape I think. venue is booked. we have our travel quote. ready for peeps to start booking. ours will be quite small - probably no more than 16. STDs went out 6 weeks ago when we confirmed date and time with the resort. wedding dress is ordered. so is MOH dress. FG dress is picked out and will be ordered in a couple of weeks. I have hairband and flip flops. we have a photographer in Jamaica booked and have the catalogue from the florist in Jamaica to pick out what we need. almost decided what they will be. invitations have been designed and are being done by a family member. OOT bags have been started but the actual bag design is still to be finalized. trying to decide between a couple of different designs. our reception restaurant is booked. we've decided on cake design. still finalizing dinner menu. still figuring out first dance location too. I think that's it. now we just wait for time to go by.....
  20. gosh I don't envy you young ladies just starting out. I went back to school at age 35 to do the law clerk program and it was tough!!! good luck to all of you! nursing is really difficult so you have my respect for sure. I feel like we're at a standstill now. there isn't really anything to do at the moment and I hate wishing the time away because it means Xmas will be a month away when we come back - yikes!!!! Jan's sounds great for pricing. I hope our final pricing comes out that good! we still aren't decided about the gazebo for the evening yet. I'd like to do it but the money I think is going to be an issue with the other half of this couple even with a small group. did anyone ever get a final answer - is it 15 p/hr per person or just 15 per person for the bartender?? can you definitely only have the gazebo for 2 hours? what's the latest time you can have it until?? if no one knows I'll call Chandlyn next week to ask, but just wondered if anyone checked into the details of it.
  21. the price is through our travel agent. it's transat out of toronto and includes the upgrade for everyone to the royal golden. $1250 is a great price so we're booking it.
  22. oh my gosh. step away for a couple of days and the world just passes you by!!! love the updates from everyone. it's nice to be kept in the loop on things. thanks to all. first of all, the flowers are gorgeous, both of you!!! if anyone wants to volunteer to do mine, I'd take about a millisecond to say yes. lol Michaels has nice stuff like that??? wow. we're using Tai Flora. our total shouldn't be more than $200 is what I've been told. my bouquet is free (I think. I'm still deciding on that one) but we only need a FG posey (she's only 4), a MOH bouquet, one MIL wrist corsage and 3 bouts. plus we're doing sand separately that is $70 and I think we're also doing a fresh flower cake top. TBD on that one. I was told if we don't take the free bouquet you get $25 towards whatever else you want. but I defintely was never told about a vendors fee so there better not even be one!!!! you'll hear me holler all the way back here from Jamaica!!! as to the judges fees, I was never told that tax was extra. now they're taxable???? the packages that include the judge and licence fees - note at the bottom of your info package that they "incur a tax rate of 16%". that's fine. if I have to pay tax, I pay tax. but why separately does the free package have judge fees of only 10%, not the 16% as with the other packages, when you don't even pay the judge fees directly with the higher priced packages anyway?????? did anyone decide about a first dance yet? we aren't sure about doing the gazebo thing yet. we might be as many as 16 but still not sure if its worth paying for the gazebo. if we don't has anyone heard if the dj in the disco at least clears the dance floor for you?? don't know if I'm in the mood to share the floor on that one.... we're doing the Grill restaurant, not the Italian. someone said something on my comment about it, but got it mixed up. I've confirmed the Grill already with Chandlyn for November. we have too many meat lovers in our group to go with pasta. but my comment was maybe since the Italian is really small, maybe that's why they won't confirm??? maybe the Grill is larger??? I haven't been there so don't know. now. final bit of info. for those of you doing late in the year like us (November). we got a quote yesterday from our TA. upgrade to royal golden for everyone, tons of little extras. $1250 all in. taxes, fuel surcharges. the works. we're going with it. it's too damned good to pass up, plus we can use air miles to pay it off. means we could technically get it for 850 bucks each with the air miles certs. so hopefully it means I'll be able to start posting numbers here soon!!!!! I'm really getting anxious to start hearing back from all the ladies that are april and may. just the reassurance that everything goes smoothly is good for the rest of us that are sitting back biting our nails off!!! jk. can't wait to see a bunch more pics!!! our countdown is now 7 and a half months!!!
  23. Ok - first I'm wondering if my restaurant is ok because of which one I booked. looking back through the threads here it seems anyone that wants the Italian is told they have to wait until they arrive, or a couple weeks before. the ones that say the Grill have been told yes. the fact that the italian is small and initmate may be the deciding factor that they can't have too many weddings in there at once?? ehpage - how are you managing being the TA??? I debated about that and my other half now is saying don't even mention prices to anyone or they'll be dropping like flies. he says lets wait a bit and see how the prices go. tris - did peeps bail cuz of pricing?? that's what I'm worried about too. we have so many experienced travellers - my inlaws to be are million milers with Holland America cruise lines, my sister in law to be is a flight attendant, my sister is a terminal supervisor at Toronto airport, we've travelled a ton of places and always booked "last minute". we went to Cabo Mexico 2 years ago and booked tuesday and flew out saturday. got an all inclusive, one week taxes in $811. the resort cost was $534. so you can see why when we're quoted $1500 for a one week vacation we know darn well the prices are going to come down.
  24. we're in the same boat! there are 2 others that I know of on our day in november - 4:30 and I think 11:30 am. they allow an hour and a half for each so there could still be one at 1 o'clock right before ours at 2:30. katelynn - which restaurant did you book? we want the Grill and so far Chandlyn has said yes. if the beach party is still on when we're there in november, we'll go and check it out. ours is a thursday so I don't know what else is going on in the resort then. ashleyL - keep us posted on how you make out with cancelling the AHR. we haven't decided if we're doing one or not. it will depend on how many make it to jamaica with us. it's just so much money to put out after everything else
  25. ashleyL - the pics are amazing!!! you both look great and really happy! thanks for posting them! ok. it's confession time. I bought my dress today. it ended up the same way JayKay said. I tried on about 8 and found the one that made me cry so I ordered it. it probably won't arrive until early July they said, which is ok. and ivory satin flip flops with a flower! and my MOH got her dress too and our little flower girl paraded around the entire store wearing the one we're getting for her and didn't want to take it off!! she has her "spin" perfected! everyone thought she was just adorable! so we have watermelon, guava and fuschia pink for the colours. my FI wants "island colours", he's getting island colours!!
