we're air transat too on oct 15th. we were a bit worried about hurricanes in the beginning so booked november, but have now changed to october and I don't care. we're alone - just 2 of us but I was told that hurricanes that late in the season don't generally hit jamaica. the air currents have changed by then so they normally miss jamaica after september. don't know if its true or not but hey - it means we get married inside instead. it would be cool to say we got married during or immediately after a hurricane! I'm going with the other girls. go with a resort package instead of the transat packages. much better and includes more. well worth it. we're obviously taking the free one so we get a special dinner, cake and flowers and we have a jamaican photographer - what more could you want?

OMG!!! you look amazing!!! your pics are gorgeous and it looks like it was a fantastic day!! congrats again! I'm starting to get excited now... 5 weeks tomorrow and we leave in 4 and a half weeks!!!!

great! I know it's so nice to get the details out of the way. our wedding stuff is nothing now that it's just the 2 of us, but our AHR is what I'm working on now. I so can't wait to peek at your wedding!! I found out my dress goes free on our flight. doesn't count against weight or baggage at all. so relieved!! hey - if you guys have a minute on the 20th at our time we're hoping to find someone to take quick pics for us with our regular camera. maybe 15 minutes or so. that way we'll at least have something to show when we come home. just one of the little ways it totally SUCKS to be going alone... I just keep telling myself it will all be worth it. it will all be worth it... lol 6 weeks from today!

I was told the short was ok but I'm having both the bc and passport notarized just to be safe. plus we're both divorced so decrees both have to be red-sealed so having that done too.

congrats! sounds like it will work out!! in just 6 weeks from tomorrow my FI is wearing Tommy Bahama that we picked up from the Niagara Falls outlet in NY. Super cheap!!! and I love it. They actually have an island wedding page on their website!! He got beautiful tan pants and an ivory and peach/pink shirt and will have a deep pink orchid bout!! OMG - I'm actually getting excited now!

hey jaykay, his name is Michael Spencer and seems to have quite a name for himself in a good way. My FI works with someone that got married at GBPJ in May and said the guy is great. The only catch is the email we were given bounced back. I have 2 phone numbers but haven't tried them yet. The company name is Spencer's Tour & Taxi and the numbers are 876-842-0527 or 876-326-5436. I haven't even been able to find anything on the Internet about them. if we can get a good email address I'll pass it on cuz we definitely are going to look him up when we go in 6 weeks.

You're in Milton - do you ever go across to the US? If so, I HIGHLY recommend Kohls in Niagara. They have right up to XXXL sizing. My FI just got a beautiful Chaps suit last weekend for $150 plus we had a 20% off coupon so $120 for a suit!. Then we found him a cool mauve coloured shirt to go with the suit on clearance for $9.60, plus the 20% off! This weekend is all the labour day sales so a trip would be worth it even if you do end up paying duty! You're still way ahead of the game. I have a 15% off coupon for this weekend I can send you if you want and directions to the nice one just on the other side of the border. Have you also tried Moore's? They can have good sales as well. gosh - you sound so organized! As much as I'm sad about our disappointments here, I'm a little relieved that I'm not taking so much stuff with me! Your's sounds like so much fun!! I'm starting to count down now too! We leave 6 weeks from this saturday! And FINALLY get married 7 weeks from this Thursday!!

Chandlyn told me last Saturday when I spoke to her that back up rain plan is the wedding in the foyer, which I think means the lobby. They're forecasting a "higher than normal" number of hurricanes so I asked just in case since we're October... heaven forbid!! but hey us happy canucks are sending helicopters and troops just in case they get hit!! go canucks. what other country would be nice enough to send their troops on a just in case mission to a country that MIGHT get hit by a hurricane. least they can work on their tan!

Wow. And I thought I had problems just even trying to get a wedding!! I'm so sorry to hear things went wrong. You really have me worried now. We're taking our sand ceremony and our cake topper but I have nobody to help me with these things. We're 2. Nobody else. I don't have a maid of honour anymore and we don't have a best man either. Our cake topper we want to re-use for our AHR when we come back so now it sounds like I have to be worried about tracking it down. I can't believe they disappeared with your cake!!! I want to be able to take it back to our room and use it for a sweet. Yes - it's true you get married and you're in paradise, etc. But when things go wrong like that, it's just additional stress at a time when you don't need any more stress. With everything we've been through I definitely don't need or want any more... On a brighter note, thanks for the recommendation of Merrick. He's our photographer too and like you he has been my saving grace!!! I already told him he was my angel. He has been so calm about everything we've been through and I'm totally excited to meet him and see what kind of pics we end up with since now we're a great big party of 2!!!

Chandlyn confirmed our date on Friday so we leave 2 months from today! We fly Oct 15th and get married Oct 20th at 1:00 pm. Please wish us luck that nothing else goes wrong. I so hope that even though we have nobody there except us that we still get good pics and have a good time!

Well we booked yesterday. To leave Oct 15th. Now hopefully Chandlyn or Donnalee will confirm either Oct 20th or 21st for our wedding. I sent them the note to cancel the 17th of November and we have a tentative hold on Oct 21st but first choice would be for the Thursday instead of the Friday. Means we can party a little later and not have to worry about packing to leave. We get both Chandlyn and Donnalee as our witnesses. Imagine... strangers signing my marriage licence. Weird. But it is what it is and we're getting a wedding in Jamaica even without everyone else. So if you're around drop by and say hello...

Hey - where did you go in town, and what town? It now looks like we have a 1pm wedding and dinner only at 6 so its a long time to kill.... we're along. nobody going with us and Chandlyn & Donnalee will be our witnesses, but I don't want to leave our photographer hanging. It seems like a long time to spend taking pics but I don't know what else to do with 3 and a half hours. Thanks.

So ladies. I guess I have some updates... If anyone will be at GBPJ the week of October 17 to 21 let me know. All of our plans seem to have changed - again!! Gosh I hate family!! So it looks now as though we are leaving here on Oct 15, getting married at GBPJ on either Oct 20 or 21 (still to be confirmed), flying home Oct 22 and doing an AHR on Nov 5th. We're still alone to get married so if anyone that's there wants to come and join us for a drink, feel free. Or even stop by to say hello. The resort is saying the only time is 1:00 pm both days, which totally sucks, and we're actually waiting to see if someone cancels to have the 20th, and it isn't first choice at all but it is what it is. And Merrick is available so we still get our awesome pictures on the beach!! It means we get married a whole month earlier but the good thing is it also makes it so close to our anniversary that I'm ok with it. So if you plan to be there in October let me know...

Hey - I was in Virginia Beach last week!! Loved it and I think we're going back at Xmas to try and do more that we missed.

well we have most of the details worked out. we're getting married here at home now on Oct 22nd then leaving for GBPJ on Nov 12th as originally planned and keeping our original ceremony date of Nov 17th. even though it isn't what we wanted, we're still going to get our "ceremony" in Jamaica and a "wedding" on the beach and pictures! I got a dress for Jamaica - very simple, no train, strapless, very very plain, but I think it will work fine since its just the 2 of us and it has a couple of little sparkles on it so should be good with pictures. plus I won't need any help getting into it!!! lol all the things I was working on for Jamaica are sending me messages saying 120 days to go!! but when I switched the date now they say 95 days to go!! makes it closer now!! I just want to say thanks to the ladies here. you guys gave me a boost when I really was feeling pretty low. this will hurt for a long time as far as family members go, but we're making the best of it and I still can't wait to get to Jamaica!

we just lost our travel group to Jamaica and are now getting married here at home 3 weeks before we go to Jamaica and we're having a blessing service instead of a marriage ceremony, but we're still having our original photographer because it was paid and we're still having our "reception" dinner and cake. at least that's what the resort told me... and we invited our photographer to have dinner with us!! lol he accepted.

I'm really happy for you that you got it all worked out. I'm sort of sad now after the drama for both of us that you arrive on the day we leave and we won't get to see your wedding now!! you'll have to watch for a wedding dress bag at the airport!! lol then I'll just wave at you but seriously I'm glad it all came together for you. I suspected that the resort would work it out - they can't afford to have a bunch of people totally upset so letting the higher ups know was the best idea.

if you feel like seeing another wedding on the 17th too you can see ours if you like. we won't mind. and we don't fly home until the 19th so I'll pop down and sneek a peek at yours if it's ok. I promise I'll stay out of the way...
