  1. I'm sure if you advertised it, you'd have a fairly easy time selling it, especially not worn and still with the tags! This site has a "classified ads" section for posting things like that. Again, good luck. I'm sure it will all come right in the end and you'll have a wonderful wedding!
  2. Congrats and happy planning! I'm sure you'll find some useful information on this site! It's a great resource of ideas and tips as well as information and reviews. If you click at the top on Resort Reviews, then click on Caribbean Weddings, then Dominican Republic and scroll through you'll find a review of the resort you're asking about. It might give you at least a little information but there are a bunch of other resorts listed there too. As well, you can always contact Wright Travel on this site. I'm sure Tammy or one of the other agents would be able to help you out. Good luck and enjoy!
  3. Hi! Congrats on your upcoming wedding! This site is a great resource for planning tips and ideas and you'll find tons of information for Jamaica! I got married in Jamaica as well and there was a make up artist that everyone was talking about and she also works with stylists. All the ladies that talked about her all recommended her, but from what I understand she books up very quickly!. Her name is Rashel Edwards. You can find her on facebook under Chasity Artistry Rashel Edwards. Good luck and happy planning!
  4. Congratulations!! Sounds amazing! I'm sure as Tammy said one of their specialists could help you out with information on what you're looking for! I'm working on a vow renewal too for next year if all goes well. Have fun and happy planning!
  5. Welcome to the site! And congrats on planning your destination wedding! I've only had experience with October pricing and I'm in the Toronto area but I did a quick search on the price of flights out of Toronto leaving this April just to see, and depending on the carrier and how long you're going for, it did come in at just over $2200. I looked at Vancouver departures for family for October and the price difference is about $200 so looking at it that way $2500 doesn't seem that bad. I agree that's a lot of money though and definitely something to consider for your guests. The other thing I've found too is that the prices are always higher when you book really far in advance. I know when you're dealing with a large group you want to make sure everyone that wants to go, can go and not have to worry whether there is space or not. With all the resort options in the Riviera Maya or Cancun area, I'm sure there would be something else that might give you a better price option. This site is a great resource for resorts and information. Good luck and happy planning!
  6. Congratulations! It's a beautiful gown! I'm sure you'll have no problem selling it. There are also the classified ads forums that you could post it to! Good luck!
  7. Thank you! We got married in Jamaica, so I've done some of the planning bit for a DW. My hard thing now is just deciding on a resort. We're going to be a really small group, and I'm having a hard time finding out what we can and can't do with so few people. It all seems geared to larger groups of at least 20 people. We'll only be 6 or 8 including my husband and I. I signed up for the webinar next month on the resort I'm really drawn to, Gran Porto Real, so I hope to get most of my questions answered then. I love the look of it! I keep looking at other resorts, but keep coming back to GPR. I would love the Royal, but I think it's just a little over the top for my pricing.
  8. Hi. There is another thread you may want to have a look at in the forums - just do a search in the search bar and it will come up. it was started quite some time ago and there are tons of titles there! Our first dance song was "This I Promise You" by Ronan Keating. I still love to listen to it! Happy planning!!
  9. Hi. We did a few things by paypal and had no problem. Both our photographer and videographer wer hooked up by paypal so it worked out fine for payment. Rashel Edwards is VERY well known at this resort and very well known for makeup so believe me when I say, it isn't a random person! lol You shouldn't have anything to worry about!! Congrats and welcome! Your wedding date is just a day after mine! good time of the year to get married in Jamaica!! We didn't have the steel drum band, but they don't play during from what I understand. They'll play you up and walking out, then they'll play for a short time after while you're having champagne. I think they can play just about anything you want!
  10. Fabulous review! I LOVE your dress... who is the designer? it suited you perfectly! I'm an October Jamaica bride too! You both look very happy and I agree that the BDW site is really incredible as a resource! I wish you a very happy married life!
  11. Welcome and congrats on the anniversary! We haven't been married that long yet (though together almost 13 yrs) but I'm also looking at a vow renewal for slightly different reasons! I've been looking at the Gran Porto Real in Playa del Carmen but am still investigating other resorts as well. Happy planning!
  12. Welcome to the site! I'm sure if you hunt around and do some searches you'll find a ton of information that will help you out with your planning! Enjoy!
  13. Thanks AllieH. That's a wealth of information! I've been to the RM before so I know about a few of the activities you mentioned. We stayed at the Catalonia Royal Tulum and absolutely loved it! I was more concerned about the fact that Azul Sensatori is in Puerto Morelos - not quite the high life of Mexico, and we have a couple of friends that, if they do actually travel with us, are high maintenance. The evening resort shows or resort bars aren't the kind of thing that they'll go for so that's why I was wondering about the distance to PDC or Cancun for the bars and shopping. I also see they've changed their wedding packages and they're pretty pricey now. Not the kind of thing I want to go overboard for on a vow renewal. Do you have to take one of those packages? Thanks again ladies!
  14. Welcome to the site! It's a great resource for pretty much all of the info you could possibly want to plan your wedding! Any ideas on resorts yet? krisdaversa - who are the photographers that you're using? I'm in the Toronto area too so just wondered. Thanks.
  15. I'm going to correct my post with apologies. It's Dreams Cancun that will no longer be a Dreams resort as of April 30, 2014. Don't know yet who will be taking it over. The Dreams Riviera Cancun will remain an AMR Resort! Some of these resort names are tough to keep track of!
  16. Hi! Congrats on your wedding! You'll love GBPJ!! I like the idea of a wrist corsage! it will distinguish her as having a special role in your wedding! Believe it or not my daughter got married and had her best friend - a guy - as her man of honour and her husband had his best friend - a girl - as his best woman. It really was a bit comical to see at first. The best woman wore a ladies version of the tux and so did the man of honour. There are so many different ways to do things now. It's what makes you and your FI happy that is the most important! Just have fun with it! Good luck! For Canadians the short form birth certificate is acceptable. We only sent scanned copies of what was required, then took the originals with us. Happy planning!
  17. Hi ladies! There are several forums here on GBPJ! Just click on forums and type in the search words. I got married there too a couple of years ago. if anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask! It's a wonderful resort and we loved every minute we were there! Congrats to all of you and happy planning!! This is a great site and full of information!
  18. There is no law that says if you're going to a tropical destination that you have to get married on the beach! Do what makes you happy and makes you comfortable! I got married in Jamaica and our gazebo was right on the beach, so it solved the problem! lol I really didn't want my dress full of sand, or sand in my toes, but that's just me! I had beautiful sandals that I wanted to wear, so yes, I was selfish about shoes too!! Congrats and happy planning!!
  19. Aww thanks Tammy! I'm excited about being a community volunteer on BDW! I love this site and think it's a wonderful resource for all you ladies (and men) out there stressing over your wedding planning! And yes, I'm working at trying to put a vow renewal together for our anniversary in October 2015 in Mexico. So I'm also trying to plan right along with all of you! On a much smaller scale of course! Congrats to all the engaged brides to be and grooms to be out there! Good luck with your planning and have fun with it!!

    Whoaa!

Congrats and great pick of resort! Welcome to the site! Definitely check out the forums here for starters and see the reviews of other brides and brides to be that have been involved with the same resort. This site is a wealth of information and tips, photos and ideas. It's a great resource for planning a DW. I would say the first thing is relax!! As a DW past bride, I can say with certainty that it will all work out. The WCs at the various resorts are trained at what they do, and the resorts do this almost every day so they absolutely know what they're doing! As well I would say let your WC deal with your guests. It will cut down on your stress if you aren't having to answer questions. And it will give your guests a professional that they can deal with. Lastly, I have to say don't sweat the small stuff. Your wedding will be beautiful and you're getting married in paradise! Who could ask for more than that! Good luck and happy planning!
  21. Welcome to the site. If you're looking for a guide for destination weddings, I believe I saw one on one of the forums. If you do a search it should bring it up for you. I think it was put out by one of the resorts and outlines what to do at various times throughout your planning. Good luck and enjoy!
  22. Hi. I was wondering if anyone has had complaints about "things to do" off the AS resort? How easy is it to get to either PDC or Cancun? I've tried googling what's in the area, but it han't been a lot of help. I really like the resort but wondered for people that have "itchy feet" if there is enough nearby to keep them occupied? Thanks.
