  1. Hi Ladies! What date are you telling your guests to RSVP by? Is April 20th too late for a June 18th wedding? The invites will go out in two weeks, but STDs have been out for months. Most people have already booked. How much time are we going to need to finalize numbers of centerpieces, OOT bags, menus, etc.? Thanks!
  2. Thank you so much for posting your pictures and templates! Very helpful!
  3. It was so hard to find a "beachy" navy blue dress. All seven girls decided on a gorgeous, classic Watters dress just to discover that if we ordered now they wouldn't arrive in time for our wedding. Second choice: J Crew. When the "Cyndee" dress went on sale today (plus an extra 30% off the sale price for ordering online) we took it as a sign. I'm a bit nervous about how the bust will look, but I am SO glad to have this part done!
  4. I asked the same question. Apparently yes, you have to have a dance floor due to the wood floors at Javier's. The dance floor that fits 20-40 is free, but the larger one is a (so far) non negotiable $900! I think we will have to opt for the smaller dance floor, and if people won't all fit, they'll dance around it, right? Crazy.
  5. Totally agree-- it's SO easy to feel frustrated. And I agree with the bride that said that this is a million times harder in your 30s then in your 20s!!! As of January 1st I have been on a very balanced vegan diet with absolutely no processed foods, dairy, white sugar or white flour. I've worked out 5-6 times a week (30-60 minutes of cardio; 20-30 weight training; plus stretching and abs). I have only lost 3 lbs since then. BUT -- I really don't have a lot to lose (10 lbs would be perfect) and I feel stronger and have a lot more energy than when I started. It is so important to remember that while you are building muscle, you may not notice a huge weight loss on the scale for a while (muscle weighs more than fat). I'm not too frustrated because I know that I am losing weight the right way without starving myself on a crash diet. I really want to maintain my goal weight (and this lifestyle) this time because it's WAY easier to maintain than to yo-yo. I want to be a hot bride and a hot wife. Hoping that February is when I start to notice a bigger change! I am starting to add in more pilates classes for toning, too. In the meantime, I am doing my best to ignore my FI eating ribs and pizza (and still has his six-pack abs!!!) while I sip my green tea and gnaw on my carrot sticks.
  6. Uh oh -- dance floor for more than 40 people is an extra $900!!!!! That's definitely not listed anywhere in the contract, so if you are having a large wedding, FYI...
  7. Either I'm Yours by Jason Mraz or Plain White T's Rhythm of Love. How did you decide on your dress?

  9. Sorry girls! I don't know why it didn't work! Go to bloomingdales.com and look for their bridal section. .
  10. I don't think that anyone we've invited to our wedding is very dramatic -- I can't imagine them doing anything to make us "uninvite them". Keep good company, right?! The only ones we're worried about are those who were invited by others, not by us!!! They might get the axe. Would you ever donate a kidney to an acquaintance to save their life?
  11. Awesome article today: 51 tips to help you lose weight! This makes me want to go work out right now. http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/12/28/fastest.fat.burners/index.html
  12. My colors are navy blue and green, and our ceremony will be a bit more formal, so my dad is wearing a navy suit (will take off the jacket for the reception) and FI's dad is wearing a Navy blue jacket with khakis. Both are going to find fun green/navy ties. I had to talk both of them out of wearing shorts.
  13. Hi CAR Brides! I just had to post after speaking to Bertha for an hour and a half on the phone. Wow-- I feel so much more confident about our wedding! She was wonderful. I now have more than one cocktail hour venue to choose from, menu choices narrowed down, lists of the best appetizers, and great ideas for reusing ceremony decorations in the reception venue. She was MORE than accommodating, and patiently listened to me while I rattled off two pages of questions. I know that I was nervous about how this would all come together, and I thought that I would post my sigh of relief for anyone else who was feeling a little anxious. We booked in September and this is the first time (January!) that I have spoken to her on the phone. Do yourselves a favor and set up a phone date with Bertha earlier so that she can answer all of your questions and make you feel more at ease. I'd be happy to share any of the above info if anyone is interested. Happy Planning!
  14. Congrats on booking at Cabo Azul!! For our reception favors, I think we are going to fill mini white pails (Oriental Trading Co.) with margarita flavored Jelly Bellies, and then top them with drink umbrellas -- the umbrellas will have the name of each guest and their table number (that's how they'll find their table). We are also making a donation to a cancer research fund in honor of a lost family member. Bertha had a good suggestion: she recommended doing mini tequila bottles. When it's time for the toast, everyone could toast with their tequila. You could bring personalized shot glasses as well. This could take the place of the ridiculously expensive champagne toast and would also serve as the favor. I know other brides are doing personalized maracas, Mexican tiles, or disposable cameras. There is a whole thread on favor ideas on this site too. Good luck!
  15. We are definitely sending everyone an invite, even if we know they won't be able to make it. I think it's a nice gesture, and it lets them know that they are "officially" included and thought of, and gives everyone a chance to formally accept or decline. I agree with MDLady about the keepsake aspect too.
  16. Hi Ladies, Bloomingdales online has some really great bridal dresses that would be perfect for a DW including Nicole Miller designs. Most are on sale right now! http://www1.bloomingdales.com/catalog/index.ognc?CategoryID=19349&PageID=83105137251335 Hope someone gets a great deal!!
  17. We wanted to do Polaroids, but it's ending up being more trouble than it's worth. This is an awesome alternative -- I've never seen it before and I LOVE it! Thanks for posting!
  18. Hi! It sounds like you are going to have so much fun! Are you staying at a hotel in Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo? If you're in Cabo San Lucas, I would go to their salon for a "hair and makeup trial" (less expensive) for your first day and then have her team come on the second day for the rest of the services. The 4 "services" can include bridesmaids, MOBs and MOGs too, so keep that in mind. I convinced my MIL and MOB to get their hair and makeup done... that's four right there! Just a thought. She is expensive but I hear she's awesome. My photographer works with them almost exclusively -- go to alecandt.com for pictures. Everyone looks amazing.
  19. I think OOT bags are such a nice gesture, and when I've received them as a guest, I've really appreciated it. However, a word of warning: our hotel charges $3 plus tax per bag if you want them delivered to your guests. Make sure to check your resort's policy before doing all of the work!
