  1. Hi fmichelle! These are EXACTLY what I am looking for!!! Thank you so much for posting!
  2. Rhythm of Love by the Plain White T's. So happy, upbeat, and us -- every time we hear it we smile and think of each other.
  3. Hi! Congrats on finding this website -- it is truly amazing and will help you plan your wedding in so many ways! I personally think that if you are in the continental US, you don't need a travel agent (or their fees, especially if you are on a budget). I would start by reading the reviews of other brides that have gotten married at each of the resorts that you are considering. After you choose the one that is right for you (all inclusive or not? How many guests can they accommodate? How much is dinner/open bar or consumption bar per head? etc.) I would start emailing and calling all of the resorts that you are interested in, stating that you have your "heart set" on having your wedding at their resort on or around July __, 2011. You many of the popular resorts might already be booked, but always leave your name and number in case there is a cancellation (this is how we got the date we wanted!). Make sure to consider dates during the week if they are already booked on the weekend -- often they are less expensive anyway. As for booking your plane tickets, go to kayak.com -- they will give you the lowest prices at every site. Virgin America is now flying directly to Cancun and Los Cabos starting in January and will likely have great deals soon. Good luck! You can definitely plan your wedding in six months... your first and largest hurdle is just booking the venue! After that, it's all much easier.
  4. Here's my dress -- Badgley Mischka Fifi -- but I ordered it without the bow. We're getting married on June 18, 2011 at Cabo Azul!
  5. I'm glad this thread is here. I've thought about this a lot. I love my name, and I've worked hard for my reputation, which is inherently tied to my name. However, I really want my family -- kids, husband -- to all share the same name, so I have decided to change it. I'd love to change my maiden name to my middle name, but it rhymes with my FIs last name and sounds ridiculous! In the end, I will be proud to share his name, but I will be sad to lose mine.
  6. Definitely St. Tropez! It looks really natural. I use the gel.
  7. What an awful story! I'm glad that you were able to get your ring fixed! In addition to writing a bad review online, you could also contact the Better Business Bureau to make a report if the store doesn't get back to you.
  8. I have two BMs who share the same birthday, which is also when we are away. I am throwing them a mini surprise party during my bridesmaids' lunch the day before the wedding. The first part will be to honor and thank all of my girls (and female family members) for supporting and helping me with the wedding. But at the end I will turn it into a birthday party and will bring out a cake/dessert/whatever is available with candles. I will also give them a small gift later. If they are bringing their families, you might consider having your photographer take five minutes to do special family shots, then buy one for their b-days as a gift. (This is the gift that we are giving to our officiant/best friend.)
  9. Hi Ladies! I thought I'd start this thread to help us all with our planning, especially because there aren't that many of us (or so it seems)! Where are you in your planning? Have you found ways to cut costs? Has anyone done a site visit? Have you decided on florists, DJs, or other vendors? We are getting married on June 18, 2011 and are so excited. I promise to post what I've found so far when I get another moment. Good luck with your planning!
  10. I bought a Crock Pot with the intention of becoming super domestic and using it all the time. The first time I used it (last year) was a complete disaster... second try (last night!) was the charm. No prep required, and each serving is under 300 calories! One whole turkey breast (Trader Joes sells these) 1 jar or can of cranberry sauce 1/2 cup orange juice one packet dry onion soup mix (reduced sodium if possible) 1/2 tsp black pepper Put the entire turkey breast in the Crock Pot. Mix together cranberry sauce, orange juice, soup mix, and pepper. Pour the mixture over the top of the turkey. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. That's it! It ends up smelling and tasting like Thanksgiving dinner. I got it from the Fix It and Forget It Lightly Cookbook.
  11. THANK YOU for posting this!! One of the first posts I read was a very enthusiastic "I got my STD!!" A bit disturbing until you know that it is referring to stationary, not diseases... I love that this forum is developing its own language.
  12. We aren't hosting a welcome dinner either. We've convinced a groomsman to host an informal cocktail hour inside his suite (conveniently, all suites at Cabo Azul have kitchens and living rooms). We are going to buy a ton of beer, a few bottles of tequila and vodka, and a few munchies at the local super market. Immediately following, we are encouraging everyone to hop in taxis to go to the clubs in Cabo. This way, we can control the length (and price) of the cocktail hour! This would be Thursday night. Our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner (wedding party and family only) will be Friday, then the wedding on Saturday. We will make sure that the guests that aren't going to the rehearsal dinner have a list of restaurants and things to do.
