  1. Kelley included this timeline within our initial quote. It doesn't include an extra hour (which we decided to do) Depart 4:45pm Arrival at las Caletas 5:45pm Ceremony 6:15pm Cocktail Hour 6:35pm Dinner 7:30pm Toasting and Cake 8:25pm Reception/Dance 8:45pm Depart Caletas 10:30pm Return 11:30pm
  2. I just paid of $350 US to do the bonfire. My guests and I are staying at Dreams but we are getting married at Las Caletas. If I was doing my wedding at Dreams, maybe they would give me a "discount" of $300.
  3. I'm doing 2 websites. The DW site has a PASSWORD people must enter (they received on their STD). This site has all the hotel info for the DW. The other site will be a mirror image of the DW site but with the reception info. We are just going to switch the URL of the sites so it's "alisonandblake" for DW and then "blakeandalison" for the second site. I felt bad about people not getting invited to the DW seeing info about it so thought 2 sites would be the best route to take.
  4. I'm getting married in Mexico in October and 2 weeks later we are doing a lunchtime AHR for about 150 people. We've asked friends and family to save their empty wine bottles and we'll use them to hold several roses on each table, with tea lights on top of a circle mirror. It's very simple but being we are doing a lunch thing, it doesn't have to be super formal. The wine bottles are definitely a way to save some money too - we'll probably make custom labels for the bottle and put a ribbon around each to dress them up a bit!
  5. Totally! I think it's totally a great thought to have a low-key get together for guests that couldn't attend. If you have the budget for it, maybe you can even do a slide show of pics from your wedding so they can see how fabulous it was and feel like they are a part of it. Your guests could even sign some kind of guest book (or continuation of your wedding guestbook).
  6. Very helpful - thanks Moosie! The YouTube videos are just photos so they aren't as helpful as the adventure wedding video. I think the raw video is going to key here!!
  7. Not sure if this is appeals to you but I am going to do fan programs in LC. I have seen them before and I think they will be a great "2 in 1" for people to use if it is really hot. They are totally cute and customizable. You can order them through websites fully made but here is a DIY site as well if you want to save some $ and have full creative control: http://www.custom-programs.com/diyfanprogram
  8. Moosie - this is super helpful. Is the price the same at $575 if you get both the raw & edited footage? Did she send you or direct you to any samples of footage from past weddings to get an idea of what it looks like? I'm super curious to see what the footage looks like from recent weddings!
  9. Thanks Ann! Yes, your link was in your signature. Did they give you ALL the footage from your wedding or just the edited version? I wonder if it would be any different nowadays being you had yours filmed 4 years ago...hmmmmmm.
  10. Thanks for all the posts on Mexico and it's safety ladies! Another question for the past LC brides (i seem to be full of questions these days) --- Did you do any VIDEO at your wedding/reception? Did you use the Vallarta Adventures services? If you did, how good did the footage turn out and did they edit it all together into a piece or just give you raw video? I'm starting to think that having video from the wedding and reception would be a good thing to look back on for memories and laughs for all the celebration that happens...and there will be plenty of that going on. Thanks!
  11. Hi Ladies! My LC wedding is just under 7 months away and a lot of my guests are now booking their flights and rooms at the resort. Did any of your guests have concerns about safety in Puerto Vallarta? A few of my relatives and one of my bridesmaids (recently a new mom...she is planning to leave her baby with g-parents in LA) are VERY nervous about the state of Mexico and it's safety. I'm trying to ease peoples minds about it but I'm having a hard time without getting a few opinions from people who were recently down there. Any thoughts on your experience and overall feeling while you were down there would be so very much appreciated. Thanks!
  12. Has anyone used just an ipod to play songs? Kelley has explained the emcee is a separate person, so the ipod would just need to be stopped/re-started during certain points of the wedding (I would assume by someone attending the wedding). I was also thinking about this option as we are in 100% control of the music being played and can already have "mixes" ready to go.
  13. choeft201 - our wedding is just under 9 months from now - October 20. If you find the name of the DJ, it would be tremendously helpful! I feel like there aren't a ton of DJs out there (and who knows in Mexico) that play the style of music we like. Lesley - I haven't been to LC (yet) so I can't comment on the DJs on Kelley's list, but I know they will play the music you want them to or you can give them a playlist to work from. The type of music I like is unique and sometimes hard to find remixes to the songs so I don't know if Kelley's DJs have access to this type of music. I am just doing research to see what else is out there before I get into crunch time. I have heard great reviews of Kelley's DJs though so if that is the route you are taking, I think you are just fine.
  14. choeft201 - my wedding is just under 9 months from today - October 20, 2011. If you find the name of the DJ that you liked, can you forward his name to me? That would be tremendously helpful!! Hopefully he had some samples I can listen to. Lesley - I haven't been to LC (yet) so I can't comment on the DJs Kelley has, but it sounds like they will play whatever music you want, you can even give them a playlist of songs. The songs we like are sometimes hard to find or unique remixes to popular songs that the DJ may not necessarily have or be able to find through his music sources so I'm just doing some research to see what else is out there I have read great reviews from the people that have hired Kelley's DJs so I wouldn't worry there if that is the route you are taking!
  15. Has anyone used a DJ outside of Kelley's list? My fiance and I are really into dance music that is remixed with high energy, and not all DJs have that type of music. We thought about doing some research on local Puerto Vallarta DJs that play at the local clubs but haven't started yet. If anyone has gone with a different DJ that plays more "dance" music, could you direct me to their website or provide info? Thanks!
  16. I'm a 2011 bride - October 20, 2011 at Las Caletas! 9 months from today.
  17. I am also interested if anyone has any answers to these questions. I am booked at LC for October 20, 2011 and am curious to know about Dreams resorts as well. Thanks in advance!
  18. ChicagoPT - does Kelley have any issues moving the time up 1 hour? We are considering doing an extra hour as well (let's face it, we'll be having too much fun to leave) but also want to make sure we have enough time to do photographs...it sounds like you had the same concerns. Right now we have our photographer coming early (around 3 before all the guests arrive) to shoot just the 2 of us and wedding party, and then we'll do family and sunset photos after the ceremony.
