  1. Sorry, I'm not too sure where would be good to look in Calgary. You should try posting in the Calgary Brides thread... you might get more help.
  2. Oooh I love that song! It's definitely going on our dinner playlist!
  3. Thank you! That really puts my mind at ease. And thank you so much for the fantastic review - it will be very helpful! It's a little disappointing to hear about the food. Did your guests say anything about it? We also have a $250 spa credit through Expedia plus our massage credit with our package - I hope we don't have any issues with this!
  4. I miss getting my little pink RSVP envelopes in the mail. And I've ordered jewelry and other wedding stuff from Etsy and Ebay that I'm waiting on. Let's hope they can end this FAST!
  5. On a side note - I know a lot of people are doing the legal wedding at home and the symbolic ceremony in Mexico to save hassle and $$$, and I know that people say your guests won't know the difference, but I'm still worried about it. Does anyone know what the Valentin does to make it appear like a legal ceremony? Do they still have you sign something in front of your guests to make it look legit?
  6. Wow - I'm so excited for you!!! And of course, I can't wait to see pics and your review. Have an amazing time and happy wedding!!
  7. Super cute! Good job! eat drink be married COLOURED.docx
  8. Wow - I just downloaded a TON of suggestions. AWESOME thread! Fi and I are both music nuts. We did a CD for our guests' OOT bags with songs we love:
  9. I started getting OOT stuff early on. I guess-timated we'll have between 35 and 40 guests, and so far it looks like I'm right. I just didn't want the stress of having to do everything in the last few months.
  10. Welcome! I found creating a master "to do" list helped, and then breaking it down into items to be done each month. This made it seem more manageable to me. Good luck!
  11. Yep, happened to me too. My best friend growing up backed out about 9 months prior. Thankfully, I asked one of my laid back girlfriends to fill in and she was happy to (so we can keep 3 and 3), but I have a feeling she might not be able to make it due to finances as well. If that happens, oh well, it'll be 3 and 2. I would give people until about 8 months prior to give me their FINAL answer... but for your wedding it's up to you I think.
  12. Thanks Janette - I actually have those translations but I wanted to change the wording of the phrases.
  13. I would think place cards would be the way to go... I'm not sure though.
  14. Yep, us too. A lot of women on here swear by their TA's, and we had one initially, but ended up booking without her. We were able to find cheaper rates faster than she could. We really didn't see the benefit.
  15. I bought a cute vintage frame for it and we're going to put it on the entrance table to the reception, with the guest book.
  16. Hey Tori, Here you go! They don't look like much, but when they're filled with flowers and surrounded by votives I think they'll be perfect. They are 6 1/2 inches tall, and I got them at Superstore in their seasonal section.
  17. I'm putting together some cute english/spanish phrases for our welcome brochures, many of which I borrowed from the great ladies on BDW, but we've made up a few of our own and I don't speak much spanish. Could someone help me out with a translation? I didn’t steal that donkey, it followed me home.... Do you remember how I got this tattoo?............. I lost my husband/wife She said she was 18 Thanks!!
  18. Ya, I will definitely be printing out my emails! I don't see how having receipts proves that you won't be reselling the items?? Maybe I'm missing something. lol. I think I will just make a sign that says "wedding decor - not for resale". If we run into trouble, it's pretty easy to prove you're throwing a wedding.
  19. Ugh, centre pieces are my biggest hurdle I think. I wanted to do silver mint julep cups, but couldn't find the size I needed in Canada, or a place that would ship to Canada that had them. I ended up buying plastic cups to use for vases. I know, it sounds awful but they nice and thick, and you really can't tell they're not glass unless you pick them up. I figure they'll be much easier to transport, and they were $20 for 5! I plan on using the bridesmaid bouquets (and mine) for centrepieces as well. I will probably need to buy an extra one, as there will be more tables than girls.
  20. Wow... I'm just seeing this post now! lol. Thanks JayKay... we have been too lazy to repaint yet, so it's still that blue. We're planning to build a walk-in closet in the bedroom after the wedding, so we might as well wait until we do that.
  21. I've ordered a lot from the US for the wedding and only had to pay a $5 duty charge once on a $150 invitation order.
