  1. MaggieandJay - can you add me to the list? Our date is officially official! October 22, 2011 !!!! DestinatonWeddings confirmed our room block (30 rooms) and the hotel has confirmed our Date, Time, Ceremony Location and Reception Location! We're booking the photographer in the next couple days. The website and Save the dates should be ready by the end of January. I'm so exicited that everything is coming together! And again, I'm thrilled to be a part of this thread. Everyone is so helpful and wonderful! --Jessie
  2. Merry Christmas Everyone! For most of us, this is the last Christmas we'll be "single" - I love it! Enjoy this time with loved ones...XO
  3. Ahh...I'm glad it was helpful to you! Good luck starting over, I'm sure all of your work hasn't been for nothing. You're probably a pro by now! I loved Sapphire but we just went to contract with Azul. It just had more of what we were looking for (though it's hard to let Sapphire go!) I also loved the special feeling of Ceiba, though it was too expensive for our guests...
  4. Whoo hoo! That was pretty fast Did you choose Beach Terrace or Tequila? Congrats!
  5. Ok, so our plan sounds somewhat in line with others (wow, there are so many variations of schedules!!!) We put 30 rooms on hold which means that in a month, we owe $6k as a deposit. Since it's a chunk of change, we hope to get our family and wedding party to put their rooms on hold themselves and knock off at least $1.5k. Our save the dates/invites (we're probably doing a combo) won't go out until after the initial deposit is down and I don't want to rush so what will be will be. I've got time to think about a photographer but can you tell me quickly how much you paid for yours (to see if it'll even FIT in our budget)?!? I hate myself on video but figure it'd be awesome to have as a memory.
  6. Everyone has to be booked by March 1 for an October 24 wedding? That sounds near impossible?!?! Am I reading it wrong? Maybe your family/friends are more on it than ours would be!
  7. Awesome! I have our ceremony at 4:30pm on the sky deck. Reception at Zavas Plaza. Our TA coordinated with the Miami Coordinators to get the spots on hold. As of yesterday, I'm corresponding with Angie, my coordinator in MIA. So exciting!
  8. We were only given 30 days to put a $100 deposit down per person. Then all rooms have to be paid in full 63 days out (which seemed a little strict!). According to our TA, that was "better than most deals out there" - is she wrong?
  9. OMG OMG OMG! WE ARE OFFICIAL! I just sent back our signed rooms contract with DW.com and the hotel has officially confirmed our date, time, ceremony and reception location! We are getting married at Azul Sensatori on October 22, 2011! You guys are the first to OFFICIALLY know (that "official" word is so fun!)
  10. I've also been trying to think of how to re-use the bridesmaids' bouquets as centerpieces. Do you think they'd just supply us with thin vases to put the in? Is it tacky to re-use? Or if not the bouquets, then other florals, like these hanging bouquets (or balls) that can double as ceremony/reception decor. I hate waste (money or stuff!) haha...
  11. Wish I had more time to comment you can see a couple pics I took while I was there - link at the bottom of my review here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/66306/my-puerto-morelos-site-visit-now-sapphire-now-jade-dreams-riviera-cancun-ceiba-del-mar-and-azul-sensatori-with-link-to-photos#post_1500691 There's a photo I took at night of the pool, there's a space between the pool and lobby that Sandra said you could do cocktails if you didn't want to do it in the same place as the reception. Just fyi...
  12. Never thought Vodka would be such a hot topic! Thanks for everyone's input. I'll let you know what I hear back from Angie, I have a list of questions for her today. This is the first time I'll be emailing her directly...we're signing our rooms agreement tonight or tomorrow!!! So excited it's going to be official!!!!!!!!
  13. That would NOT have been cool of her to tell me it was included in the room rate. Hopefully it IS available at hotel bars but maybe just not in the bar package for events? I could see why they'd do that (even though I don't like it)...I'll try to find out through my TA (who is still playing middle man to the Miami WC).
  14. I saw this (grey goose on tap, hello!??!) in the presidential suite and it prompted the conversation. AS was starting to really win us over!
  15. Ok, good to know. I would be surprised if they let you choose on-site (I do corporate events for a living and it costs A LOT MORE to do that) but it's annoying none the less that the hotel wedding coordinator told you that. During our site visit, I got information that I can only HOPE is true from the coordinator giving us a tour (Claudia). For example, she said Grey Goose is served at all the bars and is included - does anyone know if that's true?? I don't see it in the event bar package but I've been bragging to my friends that we'll be drinking the good stuff while we're there. Hope I don't sound like a total lush but we all know that it's the little stuff that makes a difference sometimes Back to the food...I wish the family style wasn't so much more expensive than the plated?! It looks so good. I like the BBQ deluxe menu but it's pretty basic...has anyone had that?
  16. She DID do an amazing job...but having a gorgeous wedding makes it easier! You guys make such a beautiful couple I love the photos!!! The ones of you guys dancing...ah, looks like a blast! Speaking of dancing, did the lights up the gazebo come with or did you add? It looks great!
  17. Great pictures! And good tips We're having our ceremony at 4:30pm on Oct 22nd, and planning on taking pics before and after. I'm worried about the mosquitos as well, they were pretty bad when we were visiting a couple weeks ago (at least at NOW Jade, where we stayed). Did you have issues every night? Day too? In your opinion do you think Zavas plaza would be more protected? Maybe we should burn citronella!
  18. Check this out too for guidelines: http://delsolphotography.com/blog/index.php/seasonalguide.flo
  19. I've been told to have your ceremony one hour before sunset..I think the time changes in Mexico in late October so check out the sunset schedule.
  20. Wow! I can't believe it's over!?!? I'm so glad you had a great experience! Enjoy newly wedded bliss!
  21. Thank you! Good to know about Le Chique! When we visited, they gave us each a mojito and later a mango margartia. Both were fab but I wish we had stayed there and tried the food!
  22. Ok, getting annoyed that my comments are disappearing! I was saying that I wish I didn't love the look of chivarris that much. We're expecting 75-80 people so that's a lot of chairs! Did they charge you extra for the white folding chairs you had on the sky deck? You had a big wedding party...was that fun? Did you get a big enough pool space every day ? I'm hoping the hotel isn't very full when we're there next october. We visited end of November and it wasn't very crowded.
