  1. How are you coordinating your welcome party? We want to keep ours super informal (also super inexpensive)...the Thursday before our Saturday wedding. I asked my coordinator about it (and wanting to rent a projector for a quick slideshow), and she only quoted me for the projector, not a per person price or rental fee.
  2. To confirm...guests don't have to wear wristbands, right? I'm 95% sure they don't...
  3. OMG, trying to find them on a map was IMPOSSIBLE and even when we thought we did, it was all wrong. From north to south, this is the order of the locations: Azul (most north) Sapphire Dreams (5 minute walk south of Sapphire) Ceiba (8 minute cab on small roads south of Sapphire) Puerto Morelos Town Jade (pretty far south, about 5 minutes drive south of the town) Hope that helps!
  4. Ditto! I'd actually PAY extra for the folding chairs without covers but that's just my opinion. I'm in corporate events for a living and might very well be jaded!
  5. We haven't even sent out save the dates but we have our first guest booked (air and room) for October. This is fun!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Oh geez, okay, good to know. 45 days is very differnt than 3 or 4, haha! Ok, maybe we'll wait to ask people their entree selections, that feels better...thanks!
  7. Awesome, okay! You obviously had people select beforehand? My WC said I could offer 3 pre-selected choices with 80+ people which I think we'll have but what if I give them 3 options and we only get 70 people? I guess that's a question for her...
  8. Interesting what you're saying. I'm so nervous about the 190+ we're inviting, I really don't want more than 75 and when we went through our list and highlighted the "most likelys" we came up with 89! I'm getting married on the sky deck (NO DOUBT ABOUT IT)..did it seem like the 80 figure might budge a little if needed? You've given me hope that my actual guest list will stay smaller than I'm thinking!!!
  9. Regarding sushi...not sure if it's at this resort but on my site visit, we ate at the japanese (sushi) restaurant at both NOW Jade and NOW Sapphire and it just wasn't that good. I know it's not Azul but we walked away thinking to ourselves "ok, we just won't go for sushi when in this part of Mexico" - and we LOVE sushi!! Maybe we're super picky but I don't think it was just that...anyways, maybe AS is smart and knows they can't mass deliver a good sushi product? I would respect them for that. Ok, the end!
  10. What menu did you choose? A plated I assume? I think your review only mentioned it being cold? haha... Trying to decide between plated and buffet. I like the plated pricing much better! THanks!
  11. We're getting the 20% off private events (basically the food and beverage). Our TA got us rates that were more than 20% off the "rack rate" listed on Azul's website but they don't get discounted further...
  12. Thank you both! For some reason I thought I remembered hearing that the only outside vendor I could hire (and I have already) was the photographer. I'm going to definitely look around! Phew!
  13. Welcome SChica927! I posted my site visit review and photos here (along with other resorts we visited in Puerto Morelos) - hope it helps! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/66306/my-puerto-morelos-site-visit-now-sapphire-now-jade-dreams-riviera-cancun-ceiba-del-mar-and-azul-sensatori-with-link-to-photos#post_1512451
  14. They really do look fake. Lovely! I had the pleasure of meeting Gaby when we went for our site visit and she was SOOOOO nice! It was extremely hard to let Ceiba go - it's such a special place. Maybe we'll go for our honeymoon!? I love the idea of writing our own ceremony (actually, it's the ONLY way). If you wouldn't mind sharing some "starters" I would be forever grateful.
  15. Can you post a link to that review? I want to find out who the horrible DJ was since we will definitely be needing one (we're having at least 80 people). This is scary, especially since AS doesn't give you options!!! Thanks!!
  16. Side note: savvybride2010 - I'm obsessed with your calla lillies! Your bouquet is one of the most gorgeous I've seen!
  17. Speaking of receptions, has anyone done the "pick and choose" menu? Any tips or suggestions? We're sending out std/invite combos later this month and it seems a little early to ask everyone their entree choice for a dinner in October. But the pick and choose menus are a lot cheaper...and I like that it's pretty customizable. For those who have done (or are doing) the buffet, which did you select and were you able to change anything? I really only saw one buffet option in the packet (the BBQ deluxe). It seems like a lot of food which is great but we're doing a cocktail reception with food right before so we may not NEED a the amount of food the buffet comes with! Thanks for your help!
  18. Happy New Years Eve everyone! 5 more posts until I'm out of Noob status! Let's make it 4...
  19. Just booked La Luna for my wedding next October! So thrilled!
  20. I feel ya, I'm ALMOST there finally. I can still post picks as a Noob (use the little square "insert picture" icon) - try it!
  21. I especially LOVE the one where you're standing in the water looking at each other...so romantic!
