  1. I can't believe she's getting married today! Hoping for great weather and a beautiful wedding!!
  2. I'm definitely including some sort of bug repellant in my welcome bags, I was thinking maybe the individually wrapped wipes? My wedding is in October, not sure of what or if there is a bug season, just want to be safe! You'll be a Noob shortly, keep posting! I hated the lurker status! I DVR-ed it and watched it this morning. My FI is from England and we were just at all those places last summer so that was cool to see. She looked PERFECT and it did make me excited for our day, and even more grateful that 2 billion people won't be watching!
  3. Hmmm...okay. Yeah, a little pricey. Did they give you dimensions for the cheaper ones? They would DEFINITELY then need to double as table decor.... I haven't figured this out yet since I want to hang them from palm tree to gazebo (not just in the gazebo like most pics show). I haven't heard of anyone else stringing them like that but during my walkthrough at the resort, the coordinator said it could be done...
  4. Yes! I definitely want to do this (probably 3 or 4 for each side of the aisle, hanging on chairs). I haven't asked about pricing, I wanted to find a good "inspirational" photo before getting a quote. It'll probably be higher than I want to pay but I'm thinking I could then use them as part of my centerpiece on the reception tables...let me know if you look into and what you find out!
  5. I can't believe we're in April! Happy Wedding days to the past and upcoming April brides, amazing!
  6. $10 for $50 worth of products on vistaprint!! Expires July 21st. https://livingsocial.com/deals/39377?ref=conf-jp&rpi=9864829
  7. OMG! I got all choked up, that was beautiful! You're seriously making me consider a videographer now...I just hate myself on video. But I'd love to have it captured like you did. Questions... Where'd the guys get their suits? Our colors are grey and yellow and the boys will be in grey. The resort did your bouquet? It looks great, do you mind me asking how much "extra" it was? Who was your DJ? Doremixx? They allowed sparklers on the beach?! AS doesn't allow them at all, I heard, so that's very interesting.... Thanks for sharing your video with us!
  8. $60 per bottle for champagne!? For what?! It's not included in the private reception package? That could be a problem...
  9. I'm definitely renting the chivarri chairs for the reception so let me know if you have any luck negotiating the price! Good question! Does anyone have a floorplan or layout for how they set up the tables (and buffets, and dj, and cake table, etc)? It'd be great to see! It's amazing how close you guys are getting! I'm almost at the 6 month mark and that's crazy to me. I'm just about to start planning my Bachelorette party to Vegas for August. So fun!
  10. Can anyone share what and how they are re-using ceremony decor for the reception (other than moving the flowers that come with the exotic gazebo set up). I'm thinking more like bridesmaids bouquets or aisle decor. And has it been easy to coordinate the details? Thanks!
  11. I posted a review of some of the resorts I visited in the area (dreams was one of them): http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/66306/my-puerto-morelos-site-visit-now-sapphire-now-jade-dreams-riviera-cancun-ceiba-del-mar-and-azul-sensatori-with-link-to-photos I thought Azul Sensatori was one of the most "intimate" bigger resorts. I wanted something intimate too but my group was too big (30-40 rooms). Other "small" ones I considered were Ceiba del Mar, La Reve, Azul Beach and Zoetry. For various reasons, obviously they didn't work out. GOod luck!
  12. Welcome! I did my site visit to the area last November (19-22) and the weather was great and most of the resorts weren't horribly crowded. It was right before Thanksgiving so there were a lot of families at some of the resorts (Dreams Riviera Maya - lots of kids, NOW Jade - 100% booked, just busy in general, NOW Sapphire - not as busy, Azul Sensatori - the least busy with the least kids, then again I visited on a "stormy" day). Our wedding is in October where there will probably be even fewer people and we're expecting about 80 with 2 or 3 kids. I'm thinking we picked the perfect hotel, that's just me! The resort IS pretty secluded though so if you wanted to go to off-site restaurants, you'd need transportation and you'd either go to the tiny town of Puerto Morelos (15 minutes) or the more-happening Playa del Carmen (30+ minutes?). We''re still figuring out how to coordinate an offsite rehearsal dinner, snorkeling trip and possible day trip to Tulum (which may come after the wedding w/ a change of hotel). Good luck!
  13. I'm not exactly sure where that area is but I do know that people would be crazy to choose hanging in their rooms over a cocktail party! I'd probably be one of the people to go freshen up for 5 or 10 minutes, so maybe an area close to the rooms is a good idea. Let me know what your WC says about it. I was under the impression that there weren't many areas available but I probably didn't know what to ask for. That's awesome your group is staying in premium, no one from our group has booked there yet. Most are going for the least expensive rooms in the Azul section. Wish we had it in our budget to get a premium swim up!
  14. Is your reception at Zavas Plaza? We're doing an hour cocktail party before dinner and we're just using the "front" part of the plaza for a standing reception.
  15. We're doing a mini-honeymoon for a few nights after we leave AS. We're looking at El Dorado Seaside Suites (all inclusive and all adults - yes!) or somewhere in Tulum. Is anyone hanging lanterns between palm trees and structure? I asked when I was on my site if we could and they said yes. I think it would look nice stretching out and covering more of the area. Anyone??? Who's your WC?
  16. My experience (or research) has been the same. I HEAVILY researched weather patterns before booking our October 22nd date (also at the end of hurricane season). We tracked the weather every day in October 2010. Every day predicted rain, but it never actually rained. We visited third weekend of November and it rained off and on one day but that was because a tropical storm was passing. It wasn't that bad. There's a reef that runs parallel to the coastline that protects the area from bad hurricanes. As we were touring hotels, we were commonly told "I've lived here 30 years and have only seen 2 hurricanes" - it's just not that much of a reality there. Hope that makes you feel better!!
  17. Round Two of dress shopping for me this weekend! My mom flew down to San Diego from the Bay Area...I hope we find THE ONE!
  18. Oh...and about the first look...I don't think my fiance is crazy about the idea either .. but it's either that, or stay away from our guests for longer and I don't want to do that. I played up that fact that we'll have a "special moment" before all the craziness for just us. I wish I had more advice!!
  19. Happy to help! We're doing cocktails at Zavas b/c we can't stay up on the sky deck for too long. It was our only option really :/ and I want to stretch the day out as long as possible....it's going to be over so fast! We'll need to get a drink or something when we're both there! And totally feel free to check ours out on the 22nd!
